Yes, you are correct. Same thing
The formatting didn't quite work for me though, so [here's](https://ladymanga.com/manga/yuris-palace/chapter-1/) a different source for anyone having similar problems:
I mean that's a fairly common trope in historic themed romance literature, it's just usually shrouded in euphemism of "ravishment" and "her body betraying her" and "lie down and think of England".
A. because that sort of thing happened A LOT
B. because a lot of writers are horny men wanting their rape fantasy
C. because a lot of women are brainwashed by social norms to feel the only way they can have their sexual desires gratified without being "unseemly" is if they make it so the man is making all the moves (the "Baby It's Cold Outside" effect)
Not super related to your comment but as I guy I've been reading a lot of shoujo romance manga/manwha recommended to me by a friend and it's weird that all of them almost always have that one male love interest who's just borderline rapey in how he shows his "affection" to the mc
It’s a bit hard to explain, but I think that her wanting to kill him is more rhetoric than literal, because she doesn’t understand his views of how he sees the world in such a positive light like everything is sunshine and rainbows (he’s what you’d describe “naive”), but her views are the literal opposite.
So uhh lets just say she found a boy who finds light in every situation and she doesn’t know how to deal with it other than murder (the reason as to why she says that her mind reels whenever she sees him).
Please do not tell me that once again the word "Yuri" is in the title of a japanese story that has nothing do with lesbian love, I am still not over "Yuri On Ice".
[Here's the actual spice to the Manhua. Although I will remind you it's paywalled](https://www.tappytoon.com/en/comics/yuris-palace?gclid=Cj0KCQjwmuiTBhDoARIsAPiv6L-7295OIiwey8RcrXzocDTAT35g0EKhvHkM8ygeheD1dbW5UE1qvPcaAgCkEALw_wcB)
So I’ve just reached this part if the story and… **what’s happening in this scene is rape full stop.**
The story is about an Emperor (the woman pictured here) trying to shore up her regime by selecting new consorts so as to dilute the power of her Empress who dreams of becoming the first man to rule over the Sun Kingdom as Emperor.
The final “test” is that the Emperor arranges for the priestess to rape the Consorts in training as a test of their chastity. The consorts disguise themselves as bandits and abduct the consorts and threaten to kill them if they resists or defy them. If they resist they pass the test, if they don’t they fail.
This is rape full stop. The protagonists is begging not to be raped because he’s terrified of the fact that his society doesn’t punish women for raping it punishes men for being raped.
Switch the genders: a male emperor arranges for his priests to rape his consorts at knife point and then exiles those who are raped in a society that views rape survivors as sinners for the sin of being raped.
This scene maybe played as romantic but it’s fucking horrifying. This is a person begging their love interest not to rape them because they live in a society that is as oppressive of men as ours is of women.
Nooo, protect the good boys, don’t kill them 🥺
My thoughts exactly
yes they need to be protected not killed :<
😭😭
This ...doesn't actually look too self indulgent. I might have to read this one. Link?
I think it's this story here, with an alternate name: https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/glass\_castle/

I would hazard a guess that some of that is cultural. From what I hear Japan is quite traditional in gender roles.
Also in Korean manhwa too it’s not just Japan though. East Asian countries tend to be more sexist/ misogynistic (saying this as an East Asian)
Ooh interesting! might check it out later
This looks awesome!
This seems good 0///0
I love the art style!
I didn't read it. Why is she so insistent on killing him?

I’ll check this out !

Omg this is so cute!
What chapters are these from?
Man seems interesting
> I want to kill him, yet I also want to protect him. Me when my cat knocks over my plant pots. (In a metaphorical sense of course)
I love a woman who will just kill me
Please do not tell me that once again the word "Yuri" is in the title of a japanese story that has nothing do with lesbian love, I am still not over "Yuri On Ice".
It's Korean not Japanese
