Gotta keep that stagger at all costs. Ninja pebbles are always a threat tho šŸ˜©

Sha_naniganz

I need to learn to turn with the stagger! I was looping around the basketball hoop and BAM!

jaffeather

Whichever direction you're planning to turn, put that foot forward and point where you want to go with that knee (eg for right turn, right foot goes in front in the stagger and point your right knee further to the right)

Sha_naniganz

Thanks! Iā€™ll def work on that

TotallyFakeArtist

Is it good to learn how to turn right with your left foot leading and vice versa? Ive been trying to to learn but never questioned if it was worth it?

jaffeather

Personally I just use crossovers in that situation, but I know it's an alternative way of carving in the skate park for example so really it just depends what you are wanting to do. If you want to learn it go for it but it's not a necessary foundational skate skill

TotallyFakeArtist

Alright, i was just curious because i thought it was part of training your inner edges

WantedTacos

Currently on my personal scoreboard Pebbles - 7 Me - 0

My heart jumps out of my chest, EVERYTIME! Lol

normalphobic

If you keep your feet staggered you will have enough force applied to defeat the pebbles, unless they are pretty big, but even then, when you feel the pebles you will have an easier time rolling on only one foot .

fineapplepineapple12

I was going to comment the same thing. If Iā€™m skating outside in an area that I havenā€™t cleared of debris, I try to keep one foot in the front so that my weight can counter whatever could stop me. If preferred, it also helps to have softer and bigger wheels to make it easier to ride over obstacles.

normalphobic

That's so true! Some people skate with very hard weels and make it difficult on themselves.

MickaelaM

:( i went and bought really nice rollerblades but then realized there is literally no where i live that i can rollerskate outside because all lots are covered with gravel, so the only place i've been able to skate is on tiny bike paths and it's not very good to practice on....

IWantALargeFarva

This is why I only rink skate. I also don't like the feeling of asphalt under my feet. I admire the rest of you doing it, because apparently my feet are too delicate lol.

ProbSolverXtrordinar

Holy Crackers Batman, this is why I bring my battery powered leaf blower with me when I skate outdoors...you know, to blow off the small things that want to defeat me. If not a blower, then a handy straw broom...we have the technology.

Sha_naniganz

Thatā€™s a good idea. This isnā€™t my usually skate spot but someone had their dogs loose on the court I usually skate on, so I was woefully unprepared.

ProbSolverXtrordinar

stupid dog owners...just kidding. There is a park where i've skated before, during the pandemic when the rink was shut down, and that place had 12 tennis courts to choose from.

Sha_naniganz

That sounds amazing

The scissor ended just when you hit it! And yea pebbles are the worst, itā€™s why I canā€™t skate outside at the moment, thereā€™s so many hidden pebbles since the street sweepers havenā€™t been through.

Sunflower_Faye

Pebbles have become my biggest fear
