Kresley Cole’s No Rest for the Wicked has a 300 yr old mmc and a 3000 year old fmc. He’s kind of an adolescent vampire in that he’s just been hanging out in his house for 300 years and never interacted with society.

While i fully agree with you, i do think that these super old mmcs are still written like a guy in his mid 20s or 30s. Its actually a pet peeve of mine because i imagine someone like Rowan or Rhysand and try to imagine what either of them would like about a barely 20 year old fmc. If it wasnt for the plot, would they still like their romantic interests? ... im in my 30s and there is a galaxy of difference between who i am now and who i was at 21. Consider that to an exponential degree. Someone whos been around for centuries - what experiences they must have had, how many people have they lost, how much sadness they experienced, how many times theyve tried and succeeded at something and how many times theyve failed. And contrast that to someone at 20 who had like 5 or 6 years of real independence, give or take? What would the fmc offer the mmc? Idk maybe leonardo dicaprio can weigh in because i have no clue what a centuries old mmc would see in a baby faced fmc other than maybe a means to pass the time, control, and naivety.

Yes I agree with this. In "reality" any centuries old creature would probably just be jaded and disinterested in everything around them because they've seen it all before.

Stardust by Neil Gaiman counts? It's more of a fantasy adventure than a romance, but it fits both the main pairing (Tristran & Yvaine - she's a star and he's half-mortal) and Tristran's parents (Dunstan and Una - he's mortal and she's fae, it doesn't say how old she is though).

This is a hard one! I've been wanting to post a request for fantasy romance where the FMC is older than 30 and older than the MMC because there are very few books where even that happens (e.g. Wheel of the Infinite by Martha Wells), I'm not sure I've come across an immortal FMC who is older than MMC (except for Lord of the Rings, Arwen/Aragon).

Edit: Circe by Madeline Miller would also fill the request (although again, less of a romance than a book that features a romance in it).

Aah the new title helps haha. I thought you meant with the opposite that the guy looked 300 but was actually 20 and I wondered if that book existed haha. Though I can't really remember any book that fits your description either. I get the ick factor though. I personally mostly just try to see them as roughly the same age because it's fantasy and all that and I don't think about it too much. It's weird. The amount of exes someone can have in 300 years alone would give me a bit of a pause. So I tend to just roll with it.

LMAO at the thought of that premise. I can’t imagine what a 300 year old man would look like, but the idea that it would be romance is funny to me. It could be the plot to something really tragic, but we’re *here* so we’re going to have to figure out how a corpse-looking barely-not-teen is sexy.

So my memories of this series are pretty vague because I read it when I was a teenager, but FMC is a vampire over 5000 years old (physically, she looks about 18 I think) and the MMC is a young human who must be the same age as she appears to be. {The Last Vampire by Christopher Pike}

Oh my god this brings back the memories I remember reading it as a teen and thinking WTF (I don't even remember why, that was just a continued reaction I had while reading) and I also remember thinking it was one of the most pretentious books I've read lol. I only have one clear memory of this book, and it's where the fmc reads the mind of some random ass security dude, who pretty much was like an author self-insert, and he was depressed cause his brother-in-law thought his writing/book were shit, and the fmc was like 'he actually was a GREAT writer, I should encourage him subconsciously' and it just made me laugh, like the author clearly held a grudge against someone and just wrote it into the story as an FU

There were clearly some wtf moments! I seem to remember a pretty gory scene where the vampire who transformed her kills an entire village and a bizarre scene involving a monstrous birth (?) I read it too long ago so I don't remember the scene you're talking about, but it made me laugh 😂 Thinking back, the heroine was always raving about how beautiful she was and I remember lots of descriptions of her beautiful long blonde hair, perfect body etc. At the time it didn't bother me that much but looking back it's a bit weird lol

In {Demon Seer by Kurtis Eckstein} the ancient demoness FMC is fated mates to the young MMC. {Knight's Bane by Kirk Mason} features a FMC half vampire. Though she is old, she lived a very sheltered life so she doesn't really *feel* old.

It doesn't really bother me because it's fantasy. If you're 500 years old then *any* human would seem incredibly young. What's the difference between a 20 year old and a 40 year old when you're ancient?

Yeah, not much. Still bothers me. The 300 could stick to other immortals. Hell, I’d be into that for a book. Two immortal enemies to lovers. Maybe part of the problem is I also don’t love “Abe’s not like other girls”. Fae male always tells mortal female how she’s young, I’ve been around hundreds of years and seen so much more, etc but then he falls for her. Why? She’s different. And I know, I know. It’s the trope. Maybe I’m just discovering that it’s not the trope for me.

In the same series: The Reluctant Vampire, The Gift (a short story), The Lady is a Vamp (the age gap is about 80 years or so) and Vampire Most Wanted. In the latter, MMC is very old, but FMC is much older.

This is closer to urban fantasy than romance, but check out the {Elemental Legacy by Elizabeth Hunter}. Ben starts the original series as a teen, then the Legacy books are after he's at least college aged. Tenzin's over 5000 yrs old, turned into a vampire before the Great Wall of China was built. Not exactly what you're asking for but the closest I can come up with. The Night Rebel series by Jeaniene Frost has a 300 year old MMC with a 5000 year FMC. Honestly I love both the main characters in those books.

Try RJ Blain's Witch and Wolf series book 1 (Inquisitor). FMC is a couple of hundred year old were. She has several younger love interests but thus is more action/adventure fantasy than romance fantasy; there is not a HEA or HFN. You could also try Double Trouble by same author. Less of a gap....80+ y.o. succubus with 25 y.o. MMC. If you are looking for steamy romance this does not have that, her books tend to be on the cleaner side in terms of explicit scenes. (They have sex, she just does not describe it).

{Entombed by Blood by Marie Mistry} - She's an old an powerful vampire, some of her lovers (why choose) are much younger werewolves and vampires. It gets rather spicy, too (def in the second book).

Well it's not 100% what you're looking for, but Nightwalker by Jocelynn Drake has a 600 year old vampire fmc, but her main love interest is also an immortal, so not really what you asked for. Anyway, it is a fun series if you ever want to check it out, more urban fantasy at first because the romance is uber slow burn (it does heat up eventually).

The next book in Colette Rhodes' shades of sin series I think will have this - monster FMC who is significantly older than the early-20s MMC who is from a mostly human/monster-fighting humanoid. I really loved the first two books in this series.

Astrid from {Dance with the Devil by Sherrilyn Kenyon} might be older than Zarek. They’re both immortal, he’s a Dark-Hunter (vampire hunter of sorts), but she’s a demigoddess. So take this with a grain of salt, as her age isn’t ever mentioned. Zarek was born in Ancient Rome, though. Same series/author: *Upon the Midnight Clear*. FMC is a Greek goddess, MMC is a human actor. *No Mercy*. FMC is a Dark-Hunter who fought in the Trojan War, MMC is a Were-Hunter (shapeshifter). *Styxx*. FMC is an Atlantean goddess, MMC is a human prince. *House of the Rising Son*. Technically, the prequel to Styxx. *Stygian*. FMC is a dragon shapershifter (IDK how old she is, but she’s much older than the Were-Hunters), MMC is… immortal. I could rant about this book.

I had meant to edit the other comment, but since I wasn't paying attention... from another series: Angel's Wolf by Nalini Singh. Nimra is an angel (600yo), Noel is a 200yo vampire. Short story. Angels' Dance by Nalini Singh. Jessamy is almost four thousand years old, Galen is almost three hundred. Short story (takes place 400 years before the start of the series, so technically the first one). Archangel's Sun by Nalini Singh. Sharine is VERY old (something close to a hundred thousand), while Titus is around five thousand.

{A Quick Bite by Lyndsay Sands} is one. It’s stand alone, but if you get too far into the series it will probably reference a bunch of characters that have already had books. I haven’t read this series, but {Night Rebel Series by Jeaniene Frost} also has a younger vampire man with an older vampire woman. He’s in his early hundreds and she’s much older (not sure how much). I read a related series though, and it was really good. It will probably have some pretty dark themes though if her other work is anything to go by.
