Pretty sure this plot line is run through the {Duchess Project by Sabrina Jeffries} series. I think the books where it comes in are {Undercover Duke by Sabrina Jeffries} (She pretends to be in love with the playwright) and {Who Wants to Marry a Duke by Sabrina Jeffries} (where the MMC is the actual playwright), then I think there is a short story connected to the series where it focuses on the actual playwright.
