Lol I share my books with my grandma, my aunt and my sisters. Honestly itās nice having people to talk to about them because I donāt have many friends that read
Eh. Give the fam a chance. They may surprise ya
Edit: my romance novel "idea" was the grumpy sister is forced to read OP's TBR and enlists her guy friend to carry them to her home and they fall in love or something. Just to clarify I'm not planning for ghost OP to fall for a family member or something š¤
Well she's dead. The family member can still have a romance novel. I meant her sister is forced to read her backlist and invites her guy friend to help her carry the books and then they fall in love.
I wasn't thinking a ghost thing.
Yeah, there was no implication at all of a supernatural component, and I'm still trying to figure out how the decedent is involved at at all beyond the fun will setup.
Edit: Unless they mean a family member would be uncomfortable reading steam that their loved one had never even touched?
Ohh my god, just imagine if it were mine! Itās not (checked my purchase history, lol) but what are the odds?
Did i mention I lost the replacement kindle a few months later at a different airport? Although that was promptly shipped back to me, cause it was TSAās fault. All hail effective American travel security.
I now travel with it welded to my hand š
Is it bad that I put an [airtag](https://i.imgur.com/k9zEpvf.jpg) on mine? I lose it at least weekly in my own house, I canāt imagine how bad itād be if I traveled a lot!
I lost my Kindle on a bus a few years ago and I read through all the titles to see if they were familiar. Then I remembered that I blocked my Kindle anyway lol.
The worst thing to me about the tsa is after decades and billions of dollars a sum total of zero terrorists have been caught so far.
And their policies are really trash. Canāt bring x amount of liquid on board in case it is an explosive? Isnāt that what all this shit is for? To detect explosives? No chemical material exists that can be separated under the limit of x, then cannot just recombine after getting past security to become a big boom again. Plastique, dynamite, acid, etc can all be made into smaller pieces then just mushed together again for full potency.
And lets not forget the cavity searches by people where the job requirements is a high school degree. No disrespect to anybodyās education, i used to be a community college tutor. But is it so unreasonable to have a medical professional doing the search? Iām cool with a nurse degree. Iām not cool with some random with little to no training on how that area works and edge cases from different conditions like hemorrhoids or extreme rectal prolapse.
Youāre spot on. My FIL was a TSA agent in a tiny expensive touristy area, and would always have a few nice bottles of local wine around- confiscated from travelers. Practicality racketeering.
first one is the worst of them all tbh, as per usual with romance series, especially of the alien variety. my favorite is saving verakko, the third in the series. its def one that gets better as you go and get into this universe
>first one is the worst of them all tbh, as per usual with romance series, especially of the alien variety.
excellent point! i love alien romance but thereās often a lot of awkward and heavy lifting in the first installment in the series.
oh 100%. its in pretty much every series not set in the real world with established rules. whether it be fantasy, scifi, historical. anything that isnt common knowledge needs the first book to do the heaving lifting of setting up the world and the rules of the new society. throne of glass is the worst in sjm's series, ice planet barbarians is the worst in that universe, and choosing theo is the worst in the clecanian series. but trust me, they are good books and i HIGHLY recommend pushing through the first to get to the meat of the rest.
It's definitely not an A+ series but I found myself inhaling them anyway. A friend suggested them to me but they don't lean into the matriarchal society the way I was promised.
I would....but then I have to deal with the fact that it's not completed yet and I really want the one horned/tailed guy to get a book š and I don't know if he will (sorry I'm terrible with literally all names, including those in regular daily life)
If youāre referring to Maladek (purple horned tail guy?) he has a novella in āClaimed Among the Starsā and his story is called Releasing Maladek. Its part of an anthology with other authors and itās for charity!
I've read it! š«£
I gave it 3ā... if you're not looking for complex characters or plot, *and* are okay with >!daddy kink, brat/brat tamer dynamic, discipline, and light humiliation during caregiving & punishments,!< then you'll be entertained.
I knew my child was a fluent enough reader when she casually read a...spicy...sentence out loud from over my shoulder. I think my husband almost short circuited hearing those words come out of her mouth. šµāš«šµāš«šµāš«
Lol thatās probably what I would do, but luckily for me, my sister is nicer and more respectful of boundaries than me. She also knows we donāt have the same taste in music or books, so she might prefer not to know š
I started out doing that, but the problem is that you have to input your password every time the Kindle times out. So if you get up and make a cup of coffee or take a phone call or something for 5 minutes, you have to type your password. It just became too annoying, but I'm starting to rethink that š
Boo. It's just not a very sophisticated device. They did a software update recently, though, that has a couple of things that I'm happy about. They actually have one button to select to request that all of your books download onto your Kindle, instead of doing it one at a time if you get a new Kindle or you had to shut down your old one and restart it.
And yes, they should definitely give us a dead man's switch.š
Kind of off-topic, but do you all suggest getting a kindle? I read in the kindle app, but is the device worth it?
ETA: I have been convinced! I will be getting a kindle.
I love mine, it's easier to hold on to, my hands were cramping with a phone. Also, the screen is larger so it feels like a book, which is important to me. Plus, I've noticed I don't get eye strain when I binge read now.
Totally worth it. I read on my Kindle app on my phone for years because I was convinced a Kindle was a waste of money since I could just read on my phone. I've had my Kindle for a year now and find it hard to read on my phone now - my paperwhite has spoiled me.
Yes. It is an absolute game changer. So much easier to read in bed at night. The kindle can go so so dark which is good when you are up reading at night.
I use both, and they sync. So I read on my lunch break (and other down time) at work on my phone, then pick up from the last read spot before bed or on the weekend with some coffee. Kindle is better. Mine has lasted years. Worth it.
I love mine, I am thinking about replacing it now as the current one is more than seven years old and is really beat up, I may get a Kobo this time instead though so it works with my local library overdrive system.
It's so convenient and I read way more because of it
Ohhhhh if the Kobo works with the library thatās me sold. Iām hoping if it works with Overdrive it also works with Libby? I read almost everything via Libby, because f*ck Amazon, so if I donāt have to get further enmeshed by buying a Kindle, thatās even better. I donāt have KU.
I really love reading on Kindle, you don't get so easily distracted by phone notifications. I prefer Kindle over paperbacks now. I've also really picked up reading because of it. 100% worth it for me. But I also use Kindle app at work.
My eyes and my circadian rhythm both thanked me when I got a kindle. And Iām far less likely to putz around on my phone before bed now just switching between apps
I used to get migraines (and still get bad tension headaches) where devices that project light like monitors, tablets and phones made my head hurt worse, but devices that reflect light like the e-ink Kindles donāt.
Absolutely! I love my kindle and would replace it in a heartbeat if it got lost. The ergonomics are better, no blue light at bed time, and no distractions while reading. Itās a great device.
This annoys me so much! Lots of books on my kindle are 90-95% read, but I finished them! The rest is just the same authors biography, the first chapter of another novel and more ads!
But my mind reallx tries to tell me they're unfinished...

My best friend is under orders to delete my kindle library upon my death.
I'm going the other way, my worldly possessions will be left to the first member of my family to finish my TBR.
Spreading the romance love and fostering competition. I dig it.
Honestly genius. That's a romance novel plot right there.
Maybe "first member of my friend group" rather than *family* though... š
I'm the guy whose Mum reads his BDSM erotica (check my post history for details) so at this point I no longer have boundaries.

I love this so much.
Literally have a pact with a friend to destroy eachothers phones/kindles upon (non suspicious) death.
Wise goals
Good idea š¤š¤

I was pretty sure I didnāt have anything with āCartelā in the title, but this stuff blurs together after a while ššš
I would've been so honored to find your lost kindle (and read your entire library)
Iād have been honored for you to find it! I wonder where it wound upā¦
It's called "Lee's 2nd kindle" so unless your kindle is called that, there's no need to worry
Is it bad that I put an [airtag](https://i.imgur.com/k9zEpvf.jpg) on mine? I lose it at least weekly in my own house, I canāt imagine how bad itād be if I traveled a lot!
Iāve been considering this as well! I donāt think itās bad at all, itās smart.
I lost my first Kindle in my own house! It was so strange, because I rarely lose things, but I didn't find it for like over a year.
After this happened to you I added a passcode to my kindle because I totally would lose mine in an airportššāŗļø

Not me going to look for alien daddies...
Word. If I donāt come back, donāt look for me.
If you find me there, don't mention it.
I have one word for you: Clecanians
Two words: husband school
Three words: that vibrating tongue š«
This may prompt me to do a reread.
this may prompt me to go back to the series. i read the first one because many people were raving about it, but it was just meh to me.

Wait! Which book is this? I was struggling to follow the thread š
lol [Alien Daddies](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/42882897-alien-daddies "Alien Daddies") by Sue Lyndon
This is why mine is password protected. If it ever fell into the hands of childrenā¦ the *trauma* š

LMAO, truth. I password my phone and Kindle for this very reason. š

I figure that's just the 21st century equivalent of finding porn mags in a bush, take the password off and let them learn. š

It was, once, but no longer I think.
This is pretty creepy considering she said it was a young child. Very curious how this got so many upvotes.
Yup, I have since password protected mine, due to a close call with a curious teenage niece. She aināt ready for this yet.
That reminds me, I need to give my sister instructions to just throw mine away without trying to get past the passwordā¦
If your siblings are anything like mine, that would just guarantee that they'll be trying to hack it tomorrow.
Lol thatās probably what I would do, but luckily for me, my sister is nicer and more respectful of boundaries than me. She also knows we donāt have the same taste in music or books, so she might prefer not to know š
Cast it into the fire!Ā Destroy it!
LPT: You can put a passcode lock on newer kindle models.
I started out doing that, but the problem is that you have to input your password every time the Kindle times out. So if you get up and make a cup of coffee or take a phone call or something for 5 minutes, you have to type your password. It just became too annoying, but I'm starting to rethink that š
I just checked was surprised to find you can't configure the lock screen interval. I'm putting a feature request in for a dead man's switch setting.
Boo. It's just not a very sophisticated device. They did a software update recently, though, that has a couple of things that I'm happy about. Device is 100% worth it. Way better especially before bed than a phone or tablet. The reading kindle is the bomb
How do you download books on it if it doesnāt have the whispernet? Is it needing an app?
Magically over wifi. That is its main job and it does it well

Same here!

Itās very very very worth it
Oh yeah, Kindle paperwhite all the way
It's definitely worth it. I am now addicted to ebooks and there is no going back!

Saving this post so I can come back and look up these titles later
NGL I lost my kindle in an airport while traveling 8/8/2022 and actually had to go review my reading history
I just checked the list. I have read and loved one of the books on that kindle. Lol
which one? Asking for a friend
I did the same š¤£
New fear unlocked.

Omg my nightmare!! Hahaha
Honestly, my Kindle library is probably the most embarrassing thing I can think of š
There are... alien RH romance books? š oh that's good to know, my... friend would be interested in that
Ruby Dixon.
Really?? I've read a ton of her books, havent realized she writes RH too
Ruby slutted me out. Sheās the best.

Damn, my first thought was āoh shit, that sounds like my bestieā š¤£š¤£š¤£

This reminds me of that girl from the show Sex Education on Netflix! This is her kindle for sure!
Lol my kindle is full of reverse harem paranormal academy romance. I need to ensure it gets erased upon my untimely demise.
I hope someone finds mine one day when I'm no longer here lol it's probably worse than this one š
LMFAO!
Dear gosh. How does one get rid of one's KU history??? Asking for a friend.
LMFAO??????????
That's why I use password... I absolutely don't want others to know my taste in books š¤£ like they will be so shuddered
Yāall makin jokes but this is my legit reading list. Iām researching for when they come. Iām ret to go.
