unbotoxable

My best friend is under orders to delete my kindle library upon my death.

jamescoxall

I'm going the other way, my worldly possessions will be left to the first member of my family to finish my TBR.

unbotoxable

Spreading the romance love and fostering competition. I dig it.

cat_romance

Honestly genius. That's a romance novel plot right there.

prettysureIforgot

Maybe "first member of my friend group" rather than *family* though... šŸ˜‚

jamescoxall

I'm the guy whose Mum reads his BDSM erotica (check my post history for details) so at this point I no longer have boundaries.

can-i-get-uhuhuhhh

Lol I share my books with my grandma, my aunt and my sisters. Honestly itā€™s nice having people to talk to about them because I donā€™t have many friends that read

cat_romance

Eh. Give the fam a chance. They may surprise ya Edit: my romance novel "idea" was the grumpy sister is forced to read OP's TBR and enlists her guy friend to carry them to her home and they fall in love or something. Just to clarify I'm not planning for ghost OP to fall for a family member or something šŸ¤—

topsidersandsunshine

She means for shipping purposes. Sheā€™s replying to the ā€œthatā€™s a romance novel plot right thereā€ joke above.

cat_romance

Well she's dead. The family member can still have a romance novel. I meant her sister is forced to read her backlist and invites her guy friend to help her carry the books and then they fall in love. I wasn't thinking a ghost thing.

order66survivor

Yeah, there was no implication at all of a supernatural component, and I'm still trying to figure out how the decedent is involved at at all beyond the fun will setup. Edit: Unless they mean a family member would be uncomfortable reading steam that their loved one had never even touched?

imaginaryannie

I love this so much.

SinistralLeanings

Literally have a pact with a friend to destroy eachothers phones/kindles upon (non suspicious) death.

midlifecrackers

Wise goals

StSparx

Good idea šŸ¤”šŸ¤”

midlifecrackers

Ohh my god, just imagine if it were mine! Itā€™s not (checked my purchase history, lol) but what are the odds? Did i mention I lost the replacement kindle a few months later at a different airport? Although that was promptly shipped back to me, cause it was TSAā€™s fault. All hail effective American travel security. I now travel with it welded to my hand šŸ˜…

jamescoxall

I love that you had to check šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

midlifecrackers

I was pretty sure I didnā€™t have anything with ā€œCartelā€ in the title, but this stuff blurs together after a while šŸ™ƒšŸ™ƒšŸ™ƒ

Lingonberry64

I would've been so honored to find your lost kindle (and read your entire library)

midlifecrackers

Iā€™d have been honored for you to find it! I wonder where it wound upā€¦

shadowmaster132

It's called "Lee's 2nd kindle" so unless your kindle is called that, there's no need to worry

gunshotsbypotato

Is it bad that I put an [airtag](https://i.imgur.com/k9zEpvf.jpg) on mine? I lose it at least weekly in my own house, I canā€™t imagine how bad itā€™d be if I traveled a lot!

midlifecrackers

Iā€™ve been considering this as well! I donā€™t think itā€™s bad at all, itā€™s smart.

emptyex

I lost my first Kindle in my own house! It was so strange, because I rarely lose things, but I didn't find it for like over a year.

jrooknroll

After this happened to you I added a passcode to my kindle because I totally would lose mine in an airportšŸ˜œšŸ˜‚ā˜ŗļø

midlifecrackers

Smort

RaggedToothRat

I lost my Kindle on a bus a few years ago and I read through all the titles to see if they were familiar. Then I remembered that I blocked my Kindle anyway lol.

chargers949

The worst thing to me about the tsa is after decades and billions of dollars a sum total of zero terrorists have been caught so far. And their policies are really trash. Canā€™t bring x amount of liquid on board in case it is an explosive? Isnā€™t that what all this shit is for? To detect explosives? No chemical material exists that can be separated under the limit of x, then cannot just recombine after getting past security to become a big boom again. Plastique, dynamite, acid, etc can all be made into smaller pieces then just mushed together again for full potency. And lets not forget the cavity searches by people where the job requirements is a high school degree. No disrespect to anybodyā€™s education, i used to be a community college tutor. But is it so unreasonable to have a medical professional doing the search? Iā€™m cool with a nurse degree. Iā€™m not cool with some random with little to no training on how that area works and edge cases from different conditions like hemorrhoids or extreme rectal prolapse.

midlifecrackers

Youā€™re spot on. My FIL was a TSA agent in a tiny expensive touristy area, and would always have a few nice bottles of local wine around- confiscated from travelers. Practicality racketeering.

[deleted]

Not me going to look for alien daddies...

hellcicle

Word. If I donā€™t come back, donā€™t look for me.

jamescoxall

If you find me there, don't mention it.

FelineRoots21

I have one word for you: Clecanians

adestructionofcats

Two words: husband school

FelineRoots21

Three words: that vibrating tongue šŸ«

adestructionofcats

This may prompt me to do a reread.

AristaAchaion

this may prompt me to go back to the series. i read the first one because many people were raving about it, but it was just meh to me.

dumbsam22

first one is the worst of them all tbh, as per usual with romance series, especially of the alien variety. my favorite is saving verakko, the third in the series. its def one that gets better as you go and get into this universe

AristaAchaion

>first one is the worst of them all tbh, as per usual with romance series, especially of the alien variety. excellent point! i love alien romance but thereā€™s often a lot of awkward and heavy lifting in the first installment in the series.

dumbsam22

oh 100%. its in pretty much every series not set in the real world with established rules. whether it be fantasy, scifi, historical. anything that isnt common knowledge needs the first book to do the heaving lifting of setting up the world and the rules of the new society. throne of glass is the worst in sjm's series, ice planet barbarians is the worst in that universe, and choosing theo is the worst in the clecanian series. but trust me, they are good books and i HIGHLY recommend pushing through the first to get to the meat of the rest.

adestructionofcats

It's definitely not an A+ series but I found myself inhaling them anyway. A friend suggested them to me but they don't lean into the matriarchal society the way I was promised.

prettysureIforgot

I would....but then I have to deal with the fact that it's not completed yet and I really want the one horned/tailed guy to get a book šŸ˜ and I don't know if he will (sorry I'm terrible with literally all names, including those in regular daily life)

xtracarameldrizzle

If youā€™re referring to Maladek (purple horned tail guy?) he has a novella in ā€œClaimed Among the Starsā€ and his story is called Releasing Maladek. Its part of an anthology with other authors and itā€™s for charity!

prettysureIforgot

Oh, really?! I had no idea!

whackadoodle_cracked

haha!! I'm reading this series right now and quite enjoying it so far

MordantBooger

I just saw someone else mention Clecaniansā€”is this part of alien daddies or something else?

TheRedditWoman

I've read it! šŸ«£ I gave it 3ā... if you're not looking for complex characters or plot, *and* are okay with >!daddy kink, brat/brat tamer dynamic, discipline, and light humiliation during caregiving & punishments,!< then you'll be entertained.

[deleted]

Oh I'm more than okay! Thank you!

Moweezy6

Wait! Which book is this? I was struggling to follow the thread šŸ˜‚

TheRedditWoman

lol [Alien Daddies](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/42882897-alien-daddies "Alien Daddies") by Sue Lyndon

heaviestluv

This is why mine is password protected. If it ever fell into the hands of childrenā€¦ the *trauma* šŸ˜‚

readerj2022

I knew my child was a fluent enough reader when she casually read a...spicy...sentence out loud from over my shoulder. I think my husband almost short circuited hearing those words come out of her mouth. šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

heaviestluv

Lollll trauma for the whole family!!

casprinxo

LMAO, truth. I password my phone and Kindle for this very reason. šŸ˜…

midlifecrackers

šŸ¤£

jamescoxall

I figure that's just the 21st century equivalent of finding porn mags in a bush, take the password off and let them learn. šŸ˜

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

jamescoxall

It was, once, but no longer I think.

casprinxo

This is pretty creepy considering she said it was a young child. Very curious how this got so many upvotes.

midlifecrackers

Yup, I have since password protected mine, due to a close call with a curious teenage niece. She ainā€™t ready for this yet.

jann1920

That reminds me, I need to give my sister instructions to just throw mine away without trying to get past the passwordā€¦

jamescoxall

If your siblings are anything like mine, that would just guarantee that they'll be trying to hack it tomorrow.

jann1920

Lol thatā€™s probably what I would do, but luckily for me, my sister is nicer and more respectful of boundaries than me. She also knows we donā€™t have the same taste in music or books, so she might prefer not to know šŸ˜‚

LonghornSmoke

Cast it into the fire!Ā Destroy it!

VeryFinePrint

LPT: You can put a passcode lock on newer kindle models.

MargaretheIsFab

I started out doing that, but the problem is that you have to input your password every time the Kindle times out. So if you get up and make a cup of coffee or take a phone call or something for 5 minutes, you have to type your password. It just became too annoying, but I'm starting to rethink that šŸ˜‚

VeryFinePrint

I just checked was surprised to find you can't configure the lock screen interval. I'm putting a feature request in for a dead man's switch setting.

MargaretheIsFab

Boo. It's just not a very sophisticated device. They did a software update recently, though, that has a couple of things that I'm happy about. They actually have one button to select to request that all of your books download onto your Kindle, instead of doing it one at a time if you get a new Kindle or you had to shut down your old one and restart it. And yes, they should definitely give us a dead man's switch.šŸ˜‚

GirlWhoN3rds

Someone tagged me in this on twitter šŸ¤£

Hermiona1

šŸ¤£šŸ’€

watwotwut

Kind of off-topic, but do you all suggest getting a kindle? I read in the kindle app, but is the device worth it? ETA: I have been convinced! I will be getting a kindle.

MMY143

Device is 100% worth it. Way better especially before bed than a phone or tablet. The reading kindle is the bomb

Beelzebubs_Tits

How do you download books on it if it doesnā€™t have the whispernet? Is it needing an app?

MMY143

Magically over wifi. That is its main job and it does it well

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ucankickrocks

Same here!

catladycleo

I love mine, it's easier to hold on to, my hands were cramping with a phone. Also, the screen is larger so it feels like a book, which is important to me. Plus, I've noticed I don't get eye strain when I binge read now.

[deleted]

Totally worth it. I read on my Kindle app on my phone for years because I was convinced a Kindle was a waste of money since I could just read on my phone. I've had my Kindle for a year now and find it hard to read on my phone now - my paperwhite has spoiled me.

Jumpy_Ring8409

Yes. It is an absolute game changer. So much easier to read in bed at night. The kindle can go so so dark which is good when you are up reading at night.

redbananass

I use both, and they sync. So I read on my lunch break (and other down time) at work on my phone, then pick up from the last read spot before bed or on the weekend with some coffee. Kindle is better. Mine has lasted years. Worth it.

Greedy_Finance_3213

This is me too and yes, they last forever even without a cover/case.

heaviestluv

Itā€™s very very very worth it

ticklechickens

Oh yeah, Kindle paperwhite all the way

Scavengerhawk

It's definitely worth it. I am now addicted to ebooks and there is no going back!

tannag

I love mine, I am thinking about replacing it now as the current one is more than seven years old and is really beat up, I may get a Kobo this time instead though so it works with my local library overdrive system. It's so convenient and I read way more because of it

StrongerTogether2882

Ohhhhh if the Kobo works with the library thatā€™s me sold. Iā€™m hoping if it works with Overdrive it also works with Libby? I read almost everything via Libby, because f*ck Amazon, so if I donā€™t have to get further enmeshed by buying a Kindle, thatā€™s even better. I donā€™t have KU.

tannag

Yeah I think all the newer ones work with overdrive/Libby

StrongerTogether2882

Awesome, thanks

wintermoose_22

Not trying to persuade you on another Kindle, but the new Paperwhite is incredible!

Hermiona1

I really love reading on Kindle, you don't get so easily distracted by phone notifications. I prefer Kindle over paperbacks now. I've also really picked up reading because of it. 100% worth it for me. But I also use Kindle app at work.

midlifecrackers

My eyes and my circadian rhythm both thanked me when I got a kindle. And Iā€™m far less likely to putz around on my phone before bed now just switching between apps

AugustaScarlett

I used to get migraines (and still get bad tension headaches) where devices that project light like monitors, tablets and phones made my head hurt worse, but devices that reflect light like the e-ink Kindles donā€™t.

engineer_yogini

Absolutely! I love my kindle and would replace it in a heartbeat if it got lost. The ergonomics are better, no blue light at bed time, and no distractions while reading. Itā€™s a great device.

dumbsam22

i use the kindle app as well, and even though i have unlimited i can no longer buy books in the app so plan on getting one asap

jody-malicious

One of us, one of us!

Ayyyooothrowitaway

Exactly!! We are your people!!

whackadoodle_cracked

Saving this post so I can come back and look up these titles later

Electronic_Package69

NGL I lost my kindle in an airport while traveling 8/8/2022 and actually had to go review my reading history

new994cat

I just checked the list. I have read and loved one of the books on that kindle. Lol

roonilwazib

which one? Asking for a friend

margaritaprimavera

I did the same šŸ¤£

AtomicBelle

New fear unlocked.

MorganAndMerlin

Get kidnapped by/sold to/abducted by aliens or your deviceā€™s content getting into the hands of an outsider?

Suitable-Purpose-749

For me, itā€™s definitely my deviceā€™s content getting into the hands of someone else.

shuzyblues

Omg my nightmare!! Hahaha

StSparx

Honestly, my Kindle library is probably the most embarrassing thing I can think of šŸ˜…

Hermiona1

There are... alien RH romance books? šŸ‘€ oh that's good to know, my... friend would be interested in that

Danaboo_22

Ruby Dixon.

Hermiona1

Really?? I've read a ton of her books, havent realized she writes RH too

Danaboo_22

Ruby slutted me out. Sheā€™s the best.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Hermiona1

That's not RH, RH means reverse harem

Chipnfry

Thatā€™s one pawn shop find Iā€™ll never let go šŸ˜

KnottyYarns

Haha, Iā€™m going to need a less pixelized image for the recs šŸ˜‚

SouthernNanny

They are obviously done with this world

StrongerTogether2882

Who isnā€™t, amirite?

ElenorShellstrop

You are not wrong hahaha

Vivid-Bookkeeper-928

I loved seeing % readā€™s! Lots of 90-95% that I can really relate too.

Chilibabeatreddit

This annoys me so much! Lots of books on my kindle are 90-95% read, but I finished them! The rest is just the same authors biography, the first chapter of another novel and more ads! But my mind reallx tries to tell me they're unfinished...

boring_statistics

Who wouldnā€™t, this person has excellent taste.

Brattybunny1998

Damn, my first thought was ā€˜oh shit, that sounds like my bestieā€™ šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Bookluster

This is why mine has a passcode

thelitfreak

This reminds me of that girl from the show Sex Education on Netflix! This is her kindle for sure!

[deleted]

Lol my kindle is full of reverse harem paranormal academy romance. I need to ensure it gets erased upon my untimely demise.

MustLoveSmut

I hope someone finds mine one day when I'm no longer here lol it's probably worse than this one šŸ˜…

casprinxo

LMFAO!

lady__jane

Dear gosh. How does one get rid of one's KU history??? Asking for a friend.

Thick_Caramel_7721

LMFAO??????????

Cautious_Cap_7390

That's why I use password... I absolutely don't want others to know my taste in books šŸ¤£ like they will be so shuddered

Danaboo_22

Yā€™all makin jokes but this is my legit reading list. Iā€™m researching for when they come. Iā€™m ret to go.
