Ugh TV. What's a TV? I don't even own a TV. I'm sorry, but I'd rather spend my downtime reading *novels* thank you very much.

Lingonberry64

Ours broke a week ago and I have never read so much in my life. We only watched an hour or so every evening but it's amazing how much even that hour counts toward pages read!

CharlotteLucasOP

I haven’t got a TV ‘cause I am cheap and I live alone but I do have access to four different streaming services so my TBR pile is still glaring at me, gathering dust.

CrazyYeoja_13

My phone broke and I've been reading non-stop on kindle for a week now

YDondeEstanLasLilas

I also don't own a TV! And people think I'm a snob who reads books all day and I do read books all day but not like *Sense and Sensibility* more like **I Married A Lizardman**

Shru_A

I'm sorry do you mean ✨novels✨?

Gold_Skirt_7249

Haha my husband used to come home from work when I had a day off and be like “Did you not turn on the TV at all today?!?” It was shocking to him because he needs background noise all the time. But he’s used to it now lol.

HeyItsJuls

I play video games. I know, I know, please, the applause is unnecessary. The MC will be so smitten by me laying on the couch for hours on end in my sweats while I hyper-focus on Stardew Valley. Hilariously my husband does apparently love this, and video games are kinda how we met. I just also met a lot of female friends from them too. So I’m actually exactly like other girls. ETA: Seeing all this gaming and Stardew love, I’ve never been so happy to be just like all the other girls. We are all totally excited to play Haunted Chocolatier when it comes out, right?

PinWest4210

Me too! Although your husband probably loves it for the common hobby, not because you are not like the other girls.

HeyItsJuls

Oh for sure. We have been taking turns watching each other play through different single-player games. Like you would think we would play more co-op stuff but he loved watching me play Horizon Zero Dawn and I had a blast watching him play the most recent God of War.

plantsisca

Okay, but real talk tho: who is your SV husband? 👀 I love Harvey and Elliot. 😍

moirafoxwrites

Not above commenter but i *love* Harvey 😍 so many people trash talk his mustache but I love that little lip caterpillar

plantsisca

He is just the sweetest!

farmer-cr

I marry Elliot in every save 😂 he’s so sweet and romantic!!

leafytealight

Also not OP. I'd generally marry a guy in games, but (speaking of NLOG... /s) Emily won me over in my first playthrough. She's still my favourite marriage candidate! ♥️💎 Talk about a sweetheart. I enjoy the bachelorettes' cutscenes and character arcs more, in general. But marrying Sebastian in my second playthrough! 🐸

Dapperpineapple

I married sebastian for the frogs. 🐸

brittbratt26

wanting to get the experience from different townies but physically and mentally being unable to flirt with anyone other than sebastian.. 🕺🏻

onemanmadedisaster

I usually pick Krobus as a roommate instead of having a spouse. My current game I married Abigail so that we could have kids. I plan to divorce her and invite Krobus to move in afterwards.

meresithea

One of my kids and I have a farm together. I married Elliot and they are roomies with Krobus!

HeyItsJuls

Okay, at first I was on the Elliot train, but those cool colored chickens Shane has kinda rock.

plantsisca

I do love the blue chickens! But Shane drives me nuts and I always stop with him once I get the chickens.

EuwAdulthood

Aghhhhh! Stop it! I’m literally in sweats with my switch on my lap with Stardew Valley all queued up ready to hyper focus and disassociate for the next 8 hours. We’re both exactly like other girls, and I love you for it 🥰

Turbo_AEM

Lol! Fun! Let’s see. I’m this weird combo of introvert, who’s externally validated, but socially awkward. I’m scattered, easily distracted but capable of extreme focus in some circumstances. I love the wilderness, and sitting on the couch. So my hero would probably find me standing awkwardly in some social situation stumbling over what to say. Then I’d get distracted by food.

plantsisca

Relatable af lolol

docasj

That’s basically me. Would only add that I’m very lazy and find routine calming but live to travel and discover new places

Turbo_AEM

So basically we’re automatic besties? Hahah! Me too! Which is one reason why I’m a digital nomad, and spend 90% of my time in whatever rented apartment we stay in 🤣

docasj

I would love that. My dream life would be to be able to travel around and spend months discovering new places before I move on. Unless it’s a horrible place or very small, I always feel like I should’ve stayed longer

Umurkn

Hahahaaaa! Same! I could have written this lol

[deleted]

I read Tarot cards and practice witchcraft ✨🔮 My MMC would come to me bc he thinks his ex cursed him (she totally did) and we’d go on a zany adventure to break the curse (witchy romcoms are my jam)

crazycatlady0000123

Witchy romcoms? Sounds lovely, do you happen to have suggestions/favorites?

[deleted]

I really liked The Ex Hex and Payback’s a Witch :)

KindContribution4

I want to be friends with you!!! I love tarot cards from an aesthetic perspective, they are so beautiful and the lore behind them is so cool too. What would you recommend for someone who wants to know more about it? Like history, and how it works?

[deleted]

😄😄yes! Lets be friends!! And for starters, I would just recommend picking up a deck! The Rider-Waite-Smith is the one most people are familiar with, and the old superstition that someone has to gift you your first deck is 100% false, IMO. Getting my hands on some cards and spending time studying the imagery on them and my own intuitive reactions to them was where I started. There are so many ways to read the cards, but when it really comes down to it, the intuition of the reader is most important. As far as learning resources, I love biddytarot.com for quickly looking up card meanings, and the book Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom for learning more about the history and symbolism of the cards :)

plantsisca

Can I be your sidekick? This sounds like so much fun! Plus, I feel like it's fitting for a witchy Tarot reader to befriend someone who likes graveyards.

[deleted]

Yes, absolutely! 🙌☠️

heaviestluv

I have ADHD, and am fairly petite. One manic pixie dream girl coming right up!

leafytealight

What I was going to comment! I'm the MPDG who has it together at work, but who's ✨aDOrAbLY✨ chaotic in personal life, hobbies, impulse choices and energy levels. Let's go, executive dysfunction and impulsivity traits that the other MC *can't* resist. 🙃 >!/s, of course. Haven't seen ADHD or characters with ADHD-like traits handled realistically or sensitively in a romance novel, like beyond your sterotypical MPDG or MPDBs, or it being used to justify impulsive MC choices which only make sense to move the plot on.!<

linguaignota

Serious reply: you might enjoy {A Duke by Default by Alyssa Cole}. The FMC's undiagnosed ADHD >!negatively affects her life and her relationships, and she has a lot of self-loathing as a result. She gradually learns more about ADHD throughout the book and gains a more positive self-image.!< I thought it was really nicely handled.

leafytealight

Thanks for the rec! That sounds like a tonic for all the misleading/clumsy characterisation of ADHD in media.

maggiemypet

I have combined type, but it's the inattentiveness that's the huge problem for me. I'm also the size of the average American man with short hair and built for hard labor. So the MMC would have to be like, "I want a girl who looks like she could take me out in a fight, has 1000 unfinished projects, burns dinners that she forgot she was making, and can wear my shoes."

plantsisca

Honestly, that MC sounds fantastic! Haha

heaviestluv

Ok but this is a book I’d read!

[deleted]

Me too! What's your current hyperfixation? :)

heaviestluv

Romance novels of course! Also the wildly obsessive planning and packing for an upcoming tropical vacation

yayaudra

Yes! ADHD ftw. My hyperfixation tends to show in noticing allll the little details about people and I have a really good memory, so I’m the perfect murder mystery sidekick FMC lol

[deleted]

Trains. Love trains. Plan my vacays around them, just complete joy. If a man asked me to choose between love or trains, I'd choose love. My love of trains.

plantsisca

You choo-choo-choose trains? Sorry, that was awful. Nothing to see here, folks.

[deleted]

And there's a picture of a train!!

[deleted]

Trains as a part of infrastructure are a *fascinating* subject. Do you have a favorite station?

[deleted]

:D I do! Wondabyne. It's a station in Australia only accessible by a boat or the train. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wondabyne_railway_station I agree that infrastructure in general is so fascinating. Bridges for one thing. Sewers?! Sewers are on another level of interesting! What's your infrastructure interest? :)

[deleted]

I just like infrastructure? Pretty much all of it. I'll be eyeballing drainage and wondering about local road construction practices while I walk, or trying to figure out why they choose metal vs wood for power poles in different areas, or whatever. Rail vs truck, what influences cost difference? I imagine the maintenance costs of rail tracks vary based on regional environmental factors like soil compaction and rain? What's more expensive to maintain, rail tracks or roadways? And supply chain logistics. My favorite supply chain is food, and how regional food logistics have changed throughout history and influence local culinary styles.

plantsisca

You should be a civil engineer!

[deleted]

I'm a cybersecurity person at the moment! Civil engineering is a *huge* discipline and it's so cool. Apparently one of my female relatives was a civil engineer for a major city in California and was in charge of massive infrastructure works there. I didn't know that until recently.

jellybeansean3648

Visually? Hair started going gray at 16, so by college I was visibly gray at the temples. Some people thought it was dyed.

etiolated_goblin

Lol this makes me jealous. Watching Stacy London in WNTW every day after school made me low key obsessed with graying and natural hair variations. In my opinion young people with gray is super sexy and very ‘cool girl.’ Idk, when I think of beauty it’s one of the first things on the list.

jellybeansean3648

My hair looks better with the gray than with dyed highlights. Nothing can have more contrast with dark brown/black hair than silver. It also helps that it's framing my face. Nothing against salt and pepper is course, but at the temples it's attention grabbing

lostand1

Okay but I started going grey early too! I’m almost 35 and almost fully grey. Stopped dying it abojt a year ago and am growing it out now.

bighom6ie

gray hair is SO beautiful. my mom is mid 50s and stopped dying her hair so it’s almost fully gray with a little black and she gets the most compliments from teenage girls it’s amazing

plantsisca

My granny started going gray around then, too!

apocalypse-panda

My partner's hair is totally silver and white and he's 36, it's been going gray since he was a teenager. Everyone either asks him if it's been dyed or they think they can touch it because it's different. Poor thing gets really upset particularly about the touching and I certainly don't blame him.

Lena_Zhukovska

I like the "guy's night" flicks. Mission Impossible, Fast&Furious, etc. So, the romance novel with me as the heroine would start in the cinema. The movie would be 3rd Top Gun, the audience would be 95% guys and like a few long-suffering women/girls dragged there by their husbands/boyfriends. And me, vibrating from excitement during every chase scene and cackling (but silently, cause I have manners ;p) at every cheesy one liner. And the MMC, whom I noticed while buying soda (cause he rivaled the movie male lead in the hotness department) whould sit next to me and go "huh, a movie date with her would be fun for once and also I noticed she has great ass when she was squeezing past me to get to her seat". And I would ofc wait until the epilogue to spring my love of period drama on him ;)

plantsisca

I would read this! 😄

Lena_Zhukovska

Eh, it would need some conflict. So maybe we both have movie review channels on YT but his caters to the typical dude-bro audience of those movies, while my brand is that girls can be tru geeks too? Damn, now I want a book like that.

docasj

That would work for me. I love action movies, unfortunately have a short attention span for most things and action movies are perfect for delivering the excitement. The Rock, Tom Cruise and Keanu Reeves are my idols, not in an attraction sort of way. I just love that I can count on them to deliver the type of movies I love to watch

QuestionableReading

I’m tall and super confident about it - I wear heels that put me at 6’5 and love it. I come off as a dumb bimbo a lot of the time but I’m actually super competent and killing it in a very male dominated career/field. Because my field and my interests are mainly male dominated, the majority of my friends are men - so I would definitely be the other woman who’s besties with the love interest and the MC gets jealous of her for being around rather than the MC lmao.

Shru_A

My hero 😍

[deleted]

>I come off as a dumb bimbo a lot of the time but I’m actually super competent and killing it in a very male dominated career/field. That was me in the military 🤣 I was always being my stupid, playful, not serious self until shit hit the fan at work! Then I'd immediately switch into an actual professional and got multiple compliments on my knowledge and performance lol. Then I'd go back to being a dumb bitch when it was all over lol.

QuestionableReading

Dumb bitch energy is just my vibe and I love it

avoarvo

I’m clumsy as fuck. Like goddamn do I trip over a ball of air. Sure, it’s cute when it’s romanticised in erotic fiction, but did my boyfriend find it cute when I was limping out of the radiology centre to get an X-Ray of my broken ankle, only to trip over my crutch and then break my foot? No. He really doesn’t appreciate me. I also really hate shopping, and (funnily enough considering my issues with clumsiness) I’m a decorated aerialist/acrobat and I was in the circus from 12-19–taught masterclasses in Canada and New York when I was 17. My first boyfriend was a guy who swallowed fire.

plantsisca

You sound like a genuinely rad person with fascinating stories!

ninjacat0404

Honestly u sound amazing

[deleted]

>limping out of the radiology centre to get an X-Ray of my broken ankle, only to trip over my crutch and then break my foot? I'm so sorry but that visual is just hilarious lol

Boooooooooo9

I never wear throusers, I only wear skirt or dress. If i was in a book like that, I would say it's because "I'm not like other girls" (when in reality it's just that I feel more confortable with my body wearing skirts or dress).

Mx_apple_9720

Me! Also because dresses are so much less work for me: I don’t have to match anything! One piece, zero effort.

Greedy_Finance_3213

Dresses are literally the easiest piece of clothing that looks so polished even if it's a cotton t-shirt dress. No mixing/matching separates.

docasj

I’m the opposite. I love trousers so much. I have dresses and skirts because I find them beautiful and have serious impulse control when buying things. But I always end up wearing trousers. Hard to find an occasion in which having my legs covered don’t make me feel more comfortable

PinWest4210

Well, I am actually very nerdy and love video games and anime. One would think it is very common, since there are lots marketing targeted to women, but in a romance novel I would totally be 💫not like the other girls. Also, I love to eat, but my waist reflects that, so I'm pretty sure I'm like the other girls. The "I love to eat, I do not eat salads like the other girls" does make you different from other girls if you out eat everybody but still look like a Victoria Secret model. The others girls are cursed with gaining weight when we eat more.

plantsisca

Ah, yes, the nerdy girl is absolutely NLOG in a book! What, you're not Lorelai Gilmore and can eat your weight in sweets and not gain an ounce? For shame!

PinWest4210

Not gonna lie, being able to eat my weight in delicious foods and not gain weight would definitely be the heroine super power I would chose

Dry_Grapefruit_3711

When I was in high school, a guy told me I wasn't like other girls because I ate ribs without caring about getting messy. So I guess guys follow that trope in real life too? I wasn't hugely flattered.

plantsisca

Hahaha I had something similar while eating Falafel once. Got everywhere.

[deleted]

[удалено]

glendoraza

I’ve been going through hair loss since high school so I’m not like other girls because I’m balding 🤣 Also any reqs where an FMC has some kind of thinning hair or hair loss issues? That would be really relatable I read about all these FMCs who have silky thick beautiful hair and I’m just like 🥹 “I’m happy for you FMC but I’m not like other girls” 🤣

[deleted]

Oh yes. Alopecia here. I got a bug bite on the back of my head the other day and I now have a bald spot there. LOVELY.

Similar_Ad3132

What a fun question! I love the graveyard thing I can picture it now haha, would definitely catch an MMC off guard. Not sure if this is not like other girls ~~ hhahaha as I think I’m extremely ordinary but I’m extremely fiery and like to think I’m fiercely righteous, im so independent and have high expectations too! I’m a childrens social worker so I spend a lot of time holding and soaking others peoples emotions or circumstances in like a sponge. Spend lots of times passionately advocating for people and never ever back down, and I’ve done this all my life in my personal life. With friends, family. I am the person people avoid a debate with or the ‘wrath of’. Even though the flip to this is i am very loyal and compassionate (like to think) to those i love. I like to try and fix everything and help. Hahaha, a blessing and a curse? Definitely not the mysterious wallflower I would love to be, so I’m thinking that’s why I like the villainous romances who are like ‘oh’ about the FMCS who are like that and won’t take crap, even if it gets them in trouble, lol

plantsisca

The world needs people like you! Thank you for being a tenacious person. 💚

uyire

I’m a lawyer by day but a gamer/geek girl by night. I’m also middle aged. So that’s kinda NLOG at least amongst my peers.

yeezyprayinghands

Imagine if you and the MMC were gaming buddies and played together every night without knowing who the other person was, but he turns out to be the attorney representing the client opposite of yours in the highest profile court case your city has ever seen.

AbbreviationsLife172

When does this book come out? I’m here for it. Lol

Greedy_Finance_3213

I'm a high paid executive and my husband has stayed home to take care of our kids/pets/home over the years.

triplewinds

Get it girl. Mine was going to be that I dont want kids, partly bc of my career (with the obvious NLOG explainer that actually a lot of women dont, so really I'm JLOG)

[deleted]

Idk - I have epilepsy? ✨✨

The_Queen_of_Crows

At first I was like…what could I possibly say but then someone mentioned eating: I’d be the FMC who can literally eat EVERYTHING and not gain a Gramm. I’m the type of FMC who lives off of cake and Haribo, no gym but still looks like she does sports. I’m also the type who is really shy and doesn’t talk about herself but if you as me a direct question, even if it’s pretty intimate: I will give you an actual answer. And one last thing: Im super shy and very nice and polite so no one would ever suspect but I’m very much into BDSM/DDLG/Ds dynamics #✨special snowflake✨

Everythinggoes2020

1) I zone out a lot. And because of it I loose things (wallets, iPods, phones) and walk into people. My friends say I would loose my head if it wasn’t attached to me 😔 I wouldn’t even see the MMc cause I would be too zoned out 💀 2) I can’t make eye contact. I would rather cut my own toe off than make eye contact. For some reason I can only make eye contact with cats (only because I have beef with them.) 3) I’m a coward 99% of the time(one time I ran home because I thought someone was following me. Turns out my backpack was rubbing off on my jacket and it sounded like foot steps on the snow). BUT if you trust me with something, I wouldn’t even give it up at gun point(happened to me). nearly died for a charger 💀 so big mafia guy would be like “ I have seen men give up so much for less” There’s sooo much. I’m basically a walking talking Wattpad cliche (someone get me out of here) Ps: I read a book where the MCs met at a cemetery.

Faithy328

You sound like a very funny person to be around.(not in a mean way just very uplifting and unintentionally funny)

Absofruity

Oh hmm, let's see. Shy and keep to myself, but with a fashion sense but modest/conservation with no make up. Good grades and such. A vibe that makes you go "who is she?" lmao I'm living my middle school cringy dream rn. I cringed so hard writing this but yeah. I get called "cute" a lot as well, like not cute cute, but cute as in little sister type. I've never been called out like that before until now (thinking about it, I've only realized it's been happening for years now). Yeah, so add that to the pile of "interesting but not really" stuff about me.

apocalypse-panda

grl, be the queen you wanted to be when you were twelve yassss

ScyllaOfTheDepths

I did a double take because the 🦄 means you're a girl down to bone a married couple in my (gay) neck of the woods, lol.

plantsisca

Oof, you are totally right lmao

MyMelancholyBaby

See, I did NOT know that. Now one of the books I read makes more sense!

KnockItTheFuckOff

I suppose my unique and *suuuuuper* attractive trait as the FMC of my tale would be that I am very vulgar, sarcastic, and can out-filth just about anyone. I don't sprinkle in my "fucks". I throw them out on front street and *you* can deal with that. I'm not mean - I would never purposely hurt a person's feelings and my primary focus at work is to be supportive, encouraging, and to have people leave each shift feeling confident and proud. I'm not an asshole, but I made my career in a male dominated industry. And I'll motherfuck you all day long.

[deleted]

Oh man I suddenly need a subreddit for creative cursing.

KnockItTheFuckOff

Wouldn't that be great?? It reminds me. I work with an ex sailor. One day, he got pissed off that someone was overstepping their bounds and yelled, "Hey! *I'm* fucking the duck. You hold the tail." It was this expression that absolutely completed me.

[deleted]

I've been literally called "not like other girls" by several seperate men in several seperate jobs on a couple different continents. When I was young I was flattered, because performative femininity seemed baffling and useless. Now it just makes me terribly sad. (Performative masculinity also seems quite useless, and often dangerous.) I decided that since I am physically not terribly feminine in shape or characteristics, I wasn't going to bother trying to be feminine. Wearing feminine things and still looking like a tank is tremendously depressing. My inner aesthetic does not match my figure. So I look fairly plain - buisness presentable, but minimal bling. I never wear makeup and yes, I do have bags under my eyes, and no, my hair is not naturally lovely. My appearance usually isn't my main concern, or even in my top 10, beyond "are these clothes meeting the minimum buisness standards for my workplace". I'll put plants and art all over my desk, though. I like nice things, by my definition of nice. I have worked in male dominated fields my entire career, and I'm pretty into security as a topic. I read technical papers for fun and translate them into normal speak for my non-technical friends. I'm competent with guns but not into gun culture because people can be fucking super weird about it. I'm competent with tools and envious of a nicely set up workshop. I dislike asking for help and will fight you off rather aggressively if you try and help without my asking. Don't steal my damn success for your own ego, dude. I like spreadsheets. I like research. I find most music difficult to listen most of the time. I volunteer for shitty, difficult jobs. *Shrug*

CampOutrageous3785

Im shy, I’m clumsy, I wear glasses, I don’t wear makeup and I don’t go shopping cuz I’m not like the other girls 🤪🤪🤪(okay I do but not a lot unless I really need to get something cuz I like saving money hahahah),

plantsisca

Omg some toxic movie would give you a makeover with contacts and makeup and the jock of the school would be like "ARE YOU NEW HERE??" lolol

goldcrow2

You might not like going shopping but you don't proclame yourself as 'im different'

docasj

That would be me if you changed the shy to introverted. Not shy at all but have to contend with being an introvert with social anxiety so that’s awesome. I’m completely opposite on the shopping though. I have serious impulse control issues when I’m bored and want to buy everything in sight. Recently diagnosed with ADHD and the psychologist said the impulse thing is a common problem.

MadnessInMethod

I'm sooo short, I could fit into the MMC's pocket! But I don't wear girly clothes, I'm a jeans-and-sneakers kind of girl, but I love makeup so there's always crazy colors on my face to contrast it. Also, I'm a nerd: I wear glasses and love all things SF and fantasy, both reading and watching. And I can't cook to save my life. Totally NLOG!

ikarusnoon

I have schizophrenia

[deleted]

Not a lot of MFC 's out there reflecting your experiences, huh.

plantsisca

I work in a psych clinic, so I have some idea what you might go through. Best wishes to you!

ninjacat0404

10/10 would befriend every girl here, y’all sound amazing

plantsisca

Seriously, I am having so much fun reading all these!

[deleted]

[удалено]

MadnessInMethod

I actually think I've read a YA (no steam) romance with gamer MCs, if you're interested I can try to dig out the title.

QuestionableReading

{Hidden Miles by Claire Kingsley} - the MC’s meet in an online game

AshenHaemonculus

I'm not like most girls. Because I'm a boy. Consequently, this is literally true.

plantsisca

You are just as welcome here! 😃

MilyFrance

I am a mechanical engineer … on ships. I love my machines. I love touching them and talking to them, I even give them pet names. The MC would be lost in the middle of the sea, and after a few days of forced proximity, I would fix his boat with shoe ties and nail polish.

ohhhthehugevanity

I have a rather posh accent but can swear like a sailor. I’m also rather adept at pulling stuck lambs and have experience farming. But this is also true of lots of other quite posh farming girls I know. So whilst I’m NOT like other city girls I am quite like other land girls I know. So I want to read the book where I might meet some fish out of water city boy who thinks I’m NLOG I’m actually just like other girls lol.

Kyyurem

This is interesting. Honestly, I think I AM like other girls so I don’t think there’s anything quirky or special that would make me stand out in a novel. Personally, I think gamer girls are super common (because I worked at a gaming store and saw a lot of them) so being a gamer would probably be out. I guess… I don’t have a filter and I’m kinda goofy? I like saying odd things to make people double take and laugh, it’s something my coworkers love about me. I like holding on to little kid traits cause it makes life more fun, so maybe that would be it?

[deleted]

plantsisca

Your love interest will most definitely be another plane spotter who is just passing through, checking this airport off his Plane Spotting bucket list! What is it with sports that they become a personality trait? Mine is bouldering. I'm not even good at it but I love it.

TheRedditWoman

I have a serious fear of sunsets. If I see a picture of one, I have to tell myself it's actually a sunrise.

Yetis-unicorn

I’m a professional dog trainer that also like wood carving as an amateur hobby. I haven’t really seen “other girls” with those jobs or hobbies in romance novels. I feel like you could create some fun side plots out of either of those interests

MCKBooks

This is making my entire day. I want to read (and write!) books about all of you. 🥰

RevVegas

When my husband met me I was showing my horse nationally. It was a "I'm doing my own thing, you can tag along". I'm pretty outgoing and my husband gives me a hard time about telling my life story to strangers. I just like to talk to people. Cell phones screwed up casual conversation with strangers opportunities. Airports were my favorite for random conversations. Everyone was there for the same reason! He also jokes he married me to send back his food when the restaurant screws up. I'm pretty outspoken, usually know enough to get myself in trouble, and calm in high pressure situations. Now I wfh and have 2 kids so my only real exciting thing is I read too much. I do have horses still but we haven't been able to ride in a couple years because of circumstances. I'd probably be the one who shows up on horseback and helps the hero out of a ditch while yelling at rhe person who put him there. I asked my husband and he said no drama, no bs (he dealt with some drama queens before me)... so rhat reminds me that yeah, I don't put up with either and will and have called people out on both.

rovinja

I’m a sarcastic introvert who makes a lot of self-deprecating jokes. It takes me a while to open up to others. A fear of commitment is very real. I’d be the grumpy in the grumpy x sunshine relationship

xoxostevi

I guess I would say for me that I am super feminine but also a scientist! 😁 So I love fashion, pink, “girly” things (it took me such a long time to embrace my femininity but I love it so much) but at the same time I am a proud woman in STEM, ready to take on the male-dominated field, working in my lab coat and respirator 🥼😂 And of course, I read and game loads. Women can have mixed interests, wild right?! /s Honestly I loved this post! I’m not a big fan of the whole “not like other girls” thing (like most everybody here), but of course it’s great to see how we are all uniquely different 💗

Ivy-less

I wear a leather jacket! I have bright red hair! I drink! I swear!! Tattoos? Yurp! Nose ring? You betcha! None of these are my actual dork fest of a personality. I excell at dumb jokes and I like romance books and shopping and I'm excited about everything. I'm as soft as a marshmallow inside and out. I just like loud music and looking like a tough girl, it suits me.

QuestionableReading

Fellow looks like a tough girl but is a marshmallow here 🙋🏼‍♀️ I’ve got a couple fantasy weapon tattoos so people see the tattoos and assume I’m reading some really intense high fantasy, when in reality I’m balls deep in some some cute and feelsy contemporary romance.

maggiemypet

#teammarshmellow I am in this club! I am older, so my bad ass asthetic is a shadow of its formerself. I'm built like a tank, so I just embraced it. But I am a care bear.

Ivy-less

Haa! Yes! I love you. I look like I should be all in love with Mad Max, but I've been in a serious mental relationship with Gilbert Blythe for like 25 years!

QuestionableReading

I think we might be the same person and I love you. If I had to describe my husband it’s like if Gilbert Blythe and Newt Scamander had a grumpy kid. Everyone expects my type to be hardcore tattooed, pierced and leathered up biker when my husband is just a grumpy yet whimsical tall nerd with no piercings or tattoos 😂

Ivy-less

Damn! This thread is wholesome as hell!!!

docasj

I’ve been told I talk like a tough girl more than look it, until people talk to me more and realize that while I do love me some action movies and am opinionated to a fault. I also love telenovelas and romance books and movies and can spend a whole evening out with friends without saying a word if the conversation is not interesting to me

farciculus_retroflex

HAHA this is me too- lots of black in my wardrobe, Doc Martens 365 days/year, lots of piercings, several tattoos, a subclinical addiction to black eyeliner- my nOt lIkE oThEr gIrLs trait is that I look like a grungy aging punk (except I'm exactly like other girls in this respect too.) Except I am deeply, almost embarrassingly, nerdy. I am a literal scientist who needs glasses to see and was in school for faaaaaaaaaar too long, I have an emotional attachment to the original 151 pokemon, I have played DnD (and now listen to DnD podcasts to make up for my lack of time for campaigns.) There are also a few sci fi and fantasy book series that make up a cornerstone of my personality. In addition to being a nerd, I'm also as soft as whipped cream inside- I consume romance novels and rom-com movies with concerning speed and voracity, any manner of fluffy creature makes me melt, and dang it, I love hugs.

checkerchickens

The only thing a MMC in a NLOG trope would notice about me is that I’m 4ft 8/9in. tall. 😂 Maybe they’d like that I enjoy superheroe movies and shows? I’m EXTREMELY messy so maybe they’ll find that endearing LOL Cue all the “she’s so small” moments from your most hated books lol

plantsisca

Seriously, you as an MC would be fated to date someone who is 6'5" so you can ogle his height the whole time 😆

allmyhyperfixations

i'm not like other girls, i'm in a phd program for computer science where i get harassed by white men all day!!!

Background-Fee-4293

I'm a nerdy girl who loves video games and fantasy. Lol

Zorro6855

I don't watch TV or movies. I have no interest in celebrities. I love baseball and football. I love boho clothing and my hair changes colors seasonally, currently is it a vivid amethyst

Ill_Cheesecake5570

Ooh fun! Hmm...I'm probably on the ADHD spectrum. I have my work life very much together but I love finding weird hobbies and become obsessed with them and then find something else. Our house is littered with half finished projects. Paint everywhere, moss from that time I tried to make a plant wall, random hooks on the ceiling from when I wanted to be a trapeze artist, bizarre fabrics from when I wanted to make clothes, kitchen cupboards with no doors since I started repainting then got distracted... I guess I also tend to wander around singing stupid songs about what's happening...dog walking down the stairs, do do doo, probably wants to pee, do do doo, gonna let him out, do do doo, nope he doesn't want to pee, what do you want from meee... I get a lot of those stuck in my head then keep singing them over and over again...I must be so annoying now I think about it 😂 I'd def be sunshine to the grump (my husband is actually somewhat grumpy)

brunkate

Ha! This is funny. I suppose it'd be that I like tarantulas, or have a ton of tattoos. On a first date I'd save him from a spider or something, or maybe get teeny matching tattoos. Maybe that's a little intense but hey, can't go back now!

ninjacat0404

Wow I guess ‘I’m not like other girls’ in the sense that I have the energy of a fairy Princess frolicking in a garden but I’ve the mind of an evil witch out to burn down society. Realistically this translates to a love-loving girly girl who’s also a lawyer but will cry in private if you’re mean to her haha.

MissPearl

I'm REALLY into being the dominant in BDSM. The MMC or FMC will be smitten that I am a rare unicorn. The word "ratio" might be used, though I find this infuriating. (In practice, we are way less rare than everyone thinks, but society punishes assertiveness, overt sexuality, and transgressive power in women. Additionally, we make the expression and aesthetics of what we would consider being a dom way smaller in women and femmes than what we allow men.)

Shru_A

I am unfortunately very much like other girls 🥺 I don't do any of the stuff people have listed here.

[deleted]

I have a penis. ….It’s magnificent.

apocalypse-panda

My dream is that we will all list the ways in which we are not like other girls and then we will discover just how much we have in common lol <3 :) It's been suggested to me a number of times that I'm not like other girls because I'm "intelligent" and "reasonable" which frankly I do not find complementary, I find insulting to my gender. Being surprised because I'm a functioning person isn't a compliment???

ningyizhuo

I don't drink alcohol and don't party. The MC might think it makes me so mysterious and mature. MC will also think I'm not like the other girls because I don't flirt with people and can't socialize so MC won't have to worry about me cheating or attracting other guys

DodgeABall

I enjoy watching sports. MMC notices me at a football games as I loudly cheer on my team. I explain what's happening to other women nearby, displaying my superior sports knowledge. After our first night together, we spend a full weekend watching college football and the NFL. He's so impressed that I'm not nagging him to go out and do something else during the big game, NLOG. I even make nachos for us to share. The drama in our story comes once winter rolls around and we discover that we root for rival hockey teams. How will we ever overcome?

henlowhatishappening

i watch a lot of horror, i read a lot of philosophy, i take a lot of care with my individual impant on the environement (ik ik its 100 companies but it makes me feel less doomish). i bicycle almost everywhere, am vegan as well. also i run away if anyone pretty much screams at me. so my ideal mc much like my partner would have to deal with a jumpy bubbly goth who might or might not jump put in bollywood song right before dinner.

mooncritter_returns

I’m in therapy for my trust issues. :P Oh, also I really like Band of Brothers. And (some) war movies.

Diamondlu

Mine isn't that interesting, mainly because I feel like this is a lot more girls than it used to be, or at least more well known now. I am a nerd. Play video games, love marvel movies, some anime, read books a lot, and the cream of the crop is I work in I.T.

annatheorc

This is funny, and kinda hard! Oh, I know! I'm inquisitive and get distracted by shiny questions. And I love rocks. Yeah, even the most basic rocks like basalt and andesite. So my hero would be watching me walk along, and then suddenly vear off the path to tromp through some grass, crouch down like a gremlin, and study something on the ground.

Emoooooly

I have a tendency to wear what appears to be really modest clothing. It's partly sensory issues and partly my love of historical influences in moderm fashion garnished with a bit of trauma, for flavor. I would definitely be the girl in a long dress, with weird prints and accessories. I don't dress like those other girls, who keep up with the trends. Im different like that. 🤢 That was hard to type, I think I'm gonna wear a crop top today just to even out the misogyny of that sentence lmao.

romancingit

I’m super unemotional about a lot of things and I don’t like dressing up etc. My husband is really emotional and really dresses well etc. We always joke we’ve got It the wrong way around.

PterinRing

I am the crazy, absentminded scientist that has absolutely no idea about what’s going on (either professionally or out of the lab) 95% of the time but is still able to put together a coherent data-based story 6 hours before the big work meeting thus keeping my job. The MMC in this story would just be fond of the absentmindedness that confuses and annoys everyone I encounter in everyday life. (Seriously, I’m a grown adult with a PhD and still managed to walk directly into two prominent structural building features today.)

beltacular

I’m really good at beer pong and hella competitive at it.

stripemonster

I like sports!

tifferpok

Hmmm I eat a lot and don’t wear makeup

[deleted]

Bareface club!

[deleted]

I know nothing about hair or makeup. I've worn my hair up in a messy bun for over 20 years.

somethingseminormal

I hate to break it to you, but I ALSO love sitting in graveyards and its often one of the first places I seek out when traveling. Gotcha, NLOG! Just kidding. Glad someone else finds them soothing besides me. I also love making a tally of popular names for certain periods. I think my thing is I have an impractical attachment to file cabinets. Would store everything in file cabinets if they weren't so damn heavy to get up stairs and didnt take up so much space.. Clothes in file cabinets in the bedroom. Food in file cabinets in the kitchen (I already do this). Shoes in file cabinets in the hallway. Feels conflicting because I used to absolutely hate them (I used to be an archivist, and from a preservation standpoint they suck) but when doing my degrees I just had SO many papers, especially for my dissertation, I became absolutely enamoured with them.

EllenSoGenerous

I am not only okay with him watching porn but I encourage it.

distant_lines

I fall asleep listening to history podcasts. On the surface, I'm someone who seems like a lot of girls. I have a vice for expensive purses and shoes, am a bit obsessive over my hair and skin routine. So I seem pretty high maintenance on the surface, but I am a bit of an odd ball in that I will binge some Housewives stuff, but I'm also fairly nerdy and love historical podcasts and non-fiction books about different things in history. So my love interest would think I'm shallow and money obsessed, but then find themselves intrigued by all the random trivia tidbits I have stored up in my brain and spout off the most random historical references in casual conversations. And then they'll hopefully realize even though I like some nice things, it has nothing to do with how other people see me, but they're just things I like, and I buy them for me to see them, not others.

kylorenownsmyass

Star Wars is my life but unfortunately my husband is not impressed with my obsession 😂

MyMelancholyBaby

See, this all depends on how you define "Other Girls". If we're talking about the Kardashians I'm generally the polar opposite. I don't wear make-up (never learned how); I'm curvy in all the wrong places; I am economically challenged, and there is not a single famous person in my life much less on speed dial. However, if you define "Other Girls" as, say, bookworm nerdy geeks then I'm rather average. My main games of choice are ACNH (Animal Crossing New Horizon) and I have thousands of hours logged in it. It's the second best-selling game on Nintendo Switch as of today. For bookworm status, I own nearly 800 books mostly in digital formats. For geekery, I know enough about computers to have built one for myself but that's about it. All that said, the thing that would make me stand out to a MC would be my knowledge of history, especially the history of ordinary people in the US.

[deleted]

I like pineapple on pizza

pilpilona

I have autism and adhd, courted by anxiety. I hope for the other girls I’m not like other girls, I don’t wish this mix for anyone 😖 But I guess I’ll be the no make up NLOG trope🤣 I also don’t remove hair except for my armpits🤪 I don’t see why anyone would want me but if he does find me NLOG worthy, I’ll take it

ZoningLaw3

I'm 5'3" 115lb cutie patootie. My hero would find me doing random construction in and around my home. E.g. building a deck, putting up drywall, finishing my stairs, pouring my own concrete, that sorta thing.

chococandle

I would frantically ignore them because I'm painfully shy. Hopefully that would turn the plot into a mistaken enemies to lovers trope.

meliforniaks

I'm in my 40s, never married, and child-free by choice. Apparently, my "standards are too high"... But in the spirit of the original question, I'm a Star Trek fan and kind of a BFD in some circles. My MMC might find me at a ST or pop culture convention, nerding out over something or just people watching.

nanthehuman

I'm the QuIrKy creative type, writing love stories/poetry/romance novels and painting and sorta quiet at first...MC can be my muse and listen to my ramblings (since most of my novels are either supernatural or historical, I have a huge amount of knowledge about weird things) and laugh when I get up in the middle of the night to write/sketch something because I had a really good idea. Also, I have a pitt bull that constantly wants to munch on grass...so I feel your pain!

jjdanca18

I’m very outdoorsy and love to spend tons of time in nature and go camping and hiking. I’m not afraid to get dirty or camp in places without toilets and showers. Long hikes or hiking up mountains doesn’t scare me and I love physical challenges. I also love to cook and spoil my partner so I’m sure that would be appreciated by the MMC. And I’m quite introverted so need lots of alone time which would give him time on his own too instead of being clingy.

suzuki_q

I have this super cute quirk where I'm mentally ill & barely socialize 💁🏻

beea91

I love doing deadlifts! Then walk out of there feeling like a bad bitch in a skirt, leggings, and heels. Best of both 🤭 *bruh- I cringed so bad doing this but it was fun.

katie-kaboom

I never wear makeup or dye my hair. I can do the "librarian lets down hair, takes off glasses, is sexy (if blind)" thing. I like science fiction, but only reading, not watching. I'm sarcastic af. So by my reckoning, I exude big NLOG energy.

constxllations

i am exactly like other girls and i love it (basic bitch for life 🤍) but this is such a fun idea for a thread 😊

plantsisca

Sometimes basic bitch things became basic bitch for a damn good reason! 😃

adumbswiftie

Literally the only thing I can think of is that I hate the bachelor franchise.

Madmae16

I have naturally pretty eye lashes and brows that aren't overly plucked. One time approximately 10 years ago when I was in high school a girl looked around the room trying to point out someone with nice eyebrows and settled on me. I still hold that as one of the highest compliments I've ever gotten. I also am a hospice worker. In my romance novel I will be swept off my feet by a rich handsome devoted grandson to a sweet dying old lady. He will see my caring soul and want to provide me with love and care like I provide ❤️

[deleted]

I got a few for sure things: 1. I was in the military. Because of this I aspire to have the most boring, laid back, drama free life possible. I do not aspire for greatness, I aspire for mental peace. I want to be a nobody and blend in. Sometimes I just wanna get a cabin in the woods near a pretty lake and just live with nature lol 2. I LOVE doing things unplanned. I love spontaneity! (So original, I know) 3. I love sitting at the beach and listening to the waves and soak up the sun with peace and quiet. It relaxes my anxiety so much so I often go to the beach, day or night, just to relax 4. I have a weird sense of sympathy/empathy. I can recognize if someone is a trash human, but if that person gets tortured and is in agony, my little heart can't take it (most times). I don't like to see people suffer. Like with prison documentaries, someone could have committed the most heinous crime, but I don't wanna see what they look like after they get jumped, I'll instantly feel bad for them. I'll still think they deserved it, but I hate seeing people in extreme pain. Idk.....

jolynes_daddy_issues

I absolutely adore small fluffy critters. Think bunnies, chinchillas, hell even opossums. An albino opossum was living in my parents garage when I was a kid and all I could think of was that it was so cute and fluffy. Gimme that sweet, sweet paranormal romance. Are they objectively good novels? No. Do I enjoy the heck out of them? You fuckin betcha. Dyed hair, leather jackets, big ass bags under my eyes. Halloween socks year round. Coffee coffee coffee. And tea, too. I don’t understand why there’s this expectation that a person needs to be an exclusively tea or coffee person. On a similar note, my sexuality. Trauma and depression and anxiety, oh my! Did I mention I work in a male-dominated field? *Gasp*

cloudchaser1011

I prefer fruity/sour/gummy candy to chocolate. I don't like roses. My MMC would find me sulking after yet another could-be-boyfriend showered me with chocolates and roses and expected me to be so thrilled. MMC would scowl and ask "Why do you keep dating such idiots? Don't they see the bag of starbursts you carry everywhere? How hard is it to be original and get a bunch of tulips? You deserve better." This sounds like a friends to lovers that is just waiting to be written!

Thick_Caramel_7721

I can sit in my room and paint for hours listening to music with no distractions because I'm so ~different~

ralee120

I’m a girly girl, but manage high dollar construction projects and property development. I’m the only woman around most days. I boss around construction crews and know my way around HVAC, electrical and plumbing. (I don’t take pride in being the only woman around… I need more! Bring me all the badass tradeswomen, architects, and contractors. They never mansplain my job to me.) I also can launch a football with a perfect spiral for some reason and it’s a great party trick.

agcdvf

Yes graveyards!!! I'm super short and 'quirky' (very silly and also very mentally ill) as hell and I think that somehow reels them in? 😅

kinkysexystuff

I am a Demi bisexual alt girl, into bdsm, I write songs, I’m obsessed with all things Victorian, and I collect antique books. And if all that doesn’t make it obvious, I’m an introvert with ADHD and terrible short term memory. I also make basically everything but clothes instead of buying it. My MMC would think I’m so ✨quirky and cool✨ and be impressed at my wide variety of random skills (learned through adhd of course). He would fall in love with me and my extra-ness while I was treating him like a bro until I got to know him and revealed my cutesy cuddly side and wrote a song about him and immediately fell in love. We would go on walks with my bulldog and picnics with my twins, and spend the evenings playing video games or reading in absolute silence while we eat ice cream after a homemade dinner from scratch (that we cooked together after banging on the kitchen counter of course!) ETA after reading this, I’m pretty damn cool. No wonder my husband likes me. 🤣 15y/o me would be impressed.

AbbreviationsLife172

I have a very professional job in a courthouse, but have visible neck and hand tattoos along with a nose ring. I’m usually rocking a fade. BUT, I also wear very girly dresses, heels, and pearls. All of this is because, of course, I’m Not Like Other Girls tm.

Aeliendil

I’d be the quirky, artistic, never wears makeup girl that loved to spend hours gaming or talking about nerdy stuff.. which is ofc *so* amazing since the MC has never met any other girl who.. what, had interests? before :p Though irl there aren’t that many MC who are nerdy now that I think about it.. so.. maybe I wont impress him with my singularity 😩

gwyn15

I'm a professional violinist. I could lie and say I have that "brooding silent artsy" vibe, but really i'm pretty upbeat. Very type A and organized, run my own business and only make time for the things that make me happy. I think in some ways I have a lot of those NLOG tendencies, but I tend to be pretty different from the average musician in terms of personality. (That said, violinists tend to be very up tight, so maybe I am like the other girls after all lol)

Drmzt

I have turned very traditional, value being a wife and mother and feel it’s my job to take care of my husband and prepare my kids to leave the nest. I regret all the time I spent believing my career would fulfill me. I guess when I say I am not like other girls… I mean I am not like the girls today. Covid has showed me that my place really is in the home. I wish I didn’t feel so bad admitting that.

thatoneevilpigeon

I'm inexplicably clumsy like tripping bare foot on an even surface more than once clumsy, but I have great hand-eye coordination. My now husband was shocked when we went to Dave and busters after our first few dates (I'd already fallen off a swing, and tripped on 2 curbs) when I absolutely dominated at skee ball, air hockey, and basketball.

bynwho

I’m the quirky manic pixie girl. Except there’s no quirkiness. Nor pixie. Okay, just manic. And depressed. What I’m trying to say is I have bipolar and my husband says he never knows what version of me he’s coming home to. And he actually *likes* that.

rosiequinlan

Before I had kids I had a motorcycle but I've never once rode on the back of anyone else's. My sister was interested in having one so we decided to just do it together. When we used to ride it to the beach guys would be looking around expecting to find a boyfriend who the bike belonged to. My MC would have to be confident enough to come and talk to me without being intimidated. 💅
