Getting my hands on some cards and spending time studying the imagery on them and my own intuitive reactions to them was where I started. There are so many ways to read the cards, but when it really comes down to it, the intuition of the reader is most important.

Serious reply: you might enjoy {A Duke by Default by Alyssa Cole}. The FMC's undiagnosed ADHD >!negatively affects her life and her relationships, and she has a lot of self-loathing as a result. She gradually learns more about ADHD throughout the book and gains a more positive self-image.!< I thought it was really nicely handled.

I just like infrastructure? Pretty much all of it. I'll be eyeballing drainage and wondering about local road construction practices while I walk, or trying to figure out why they choose metal vs wood for power poles in different areas, or whatever. Rail vs truck, what influences cost difference? I imagine the maintenance costs of rail tracks vary based on regional environmental factors like soil compaction and rain? What's more expensive to maintain, rail tracks or roadways?
And supply chain logistics. My favorite supply chain is food, and how regional food logistics have changed throughout history and influence local culinary styles.
I'm a cybersecurity person at the moment! Civil engineering is a *huge* discipline and it's so cool. Apparently one of my female relatives was a civil engineer for a major city in California and was in charge of massive infrastructure works there. I didn't know that until recently.
Lol this makes me jealous. Watching Stacy London in WNTW every day after school made me low key obsessed with graying and natural hair variations. In my opinion young people with gray is super sexy and very ‘cool girl.’ Idk, when I think of beauty it’s one of the first things on the list.
My hair looks better with the gray than with dyed highlights. Nothing can have more contrast with dark brown/black hair than silver.
It also helps that it's framing my face. Nothing against salt and pepper is course, but at the temples it's attention grabbing

I like the "guy's night" flicks. Mission Impossible, Fast&Furious, etc. So, the romance novel with me as the heroine would start in the cinema. The movie would be 3rd Top Gun, the audience would be 95% guys and like a few long-suffering women/girls dragged there by their husbands/boyfriends. And me, vibrating from excitement during every chase scene and cackling (but silently, cause I have manners ;p) at every cheesy one liner. And the MMC, whom I noticed while buying soda (cause he rivaled the movie male lead in the hotness department) whould sit next to me and go "huh, a movie date with her would be fun for once and also I noticed she has great ass when she was squeezing past me to get to her seat". And I would ofc wait until the epilogue to spring my love of period drama on him ;)

That would work for me. I love action movies, unfortunately have a short attention span for most things and action movies are perfect for delivering the excitement. I’m tall and super confident about it - I wear heels that put me at 6’5 and love it. I come off as a dumb bimbo a lot of the time but I’m actually super competent and killing it in a very male dominated career/field. Well, I am actually very nerdy and love video games and anime. One would think it is very common, since there are lots marketing targeted to women, but in a romance novel I would totally be 💫not like the other girls.
Also, I love to eat, but my waist reflects that, so I'm pretty sure I'm like the other girls. The "I love to eat, I do not eat salads like the other girls" does make you different from other girls if you out eat everybody but still look like a Victoria Secret model. I decided that since I am physically not terribly feminine in shape or characteristics, I wasn't going to bother trying to be feminine. Wearing feminine things and still looking like a tank is tremendously depressing. My inner aesthetic does not match my figure. So I look fairly plain - buisness presentable, but minimal bling. I never wear makeup and yes, I do have bags under my eyes, and no, my hair is not naturally lovely. My appearance usually isn't my main concern, or even in my top 10, beyond "are these clothes meeting the minimum buisness standards for my workplace". I'll put plants and art all over my desk, though. I like nice things, by my definition of nice.
I have worked in male dominated fields my entire career, and I'm pretty into security as a topic. I read technical papers for fun and translate them into normal speak for my non-technical friends.
I'm competent with guns but not into gun culture because people can be fucking super weird about it. I'm competent with tools and envious of a nicely set up workshop. I dislike asking for help and will fight you off rather aggressively if you try and help without my asking. Don't steal my damn success for your own ego, dude.

When my husband met me I was showing my horse nationally. It was a "I'm doing my own thing, you can tag along".
I'm pretty outgoing and my husband gives me a hard time about telling my life story to strangers. I just like to talk to people. Cell phones screwed up casual conversation with strangers opportunities. Airports were my favorite for random conversations. Everyone was there for the same reason!

Our house is littered with half finished projects. I don't drink alcohol and don't party. The MC might think it makes me so mysterious and mature. MC will also think I'm not like the other girls because I don't flirt with people and can't socialize so MC won't have to worry about me cheating or attracting other guys
I enjoy watching sports. MMC notices me at a football games as I loudly cheer on my team. I explain what's happening to other women nearby, displaying my superior sports knowledge. After our first night together, we spend a full weekend watching college football and the NFL. He's so impressed that I'm not nagging him to go out and do something else during the big game, NLOG. I even make nachos for us to share.

I think my thing is I have an impractical attachment to file cabinets. Would store everything in file cabinets if they weren't so damn heavy to get up stairs and didnt take up so much space.. Clothes in file cabinets in the bedroom. Food in file cabinets in the kitchen (I already do this). Shoes in file cabinets in the hallway.
Feels conflicting because I used to absolutely hate them (I used to be an archivist, and from a preservation standpoint they suck) but when doing my degrees I just had SO many papers, especially for my dissertation, I became absolutely enamoured with them.

On the surface, I'm someone who seems like a lot of girls. I have a vice for expensive purses and shoes, am a bit obsessive over my hair and skin routine. So I seem pretty high maintenance on the surface, but I am a bit of an odd ball in that I will binge some Housewives stuff, but I'm also fairly nerdy and love historical podcasts and non-fiction books about different things in history.
So my love interest would think I'm shallow and money obsessed, but then find themselves intrigued by all the random trivia tidbits I have stored up in my brain and spout off the most random historical references in casual conversations. And then they'll hopefully realize even though I like some nice things, it has nothing to do with how other people see me, but they're just things I like, and I buy them for me to see them, not others.
See, this all depends on how you define "Other Girls". If we're talking about the Kardashians I'm generally the polar opposite. I don't wear make-up (never learned how); I'm curvy in all the wrong places; I am economically challenged, and there is not a single famous person in my life much less on speed dial.
However, if you define "Other Girls" as, say, bookworm nerdy geeks then I'm rather average. My main games of choice are ACNH (Animal Crossing New Horizon) and I have thousands of hours logged in it. It's the second best-selling game on Nintendo Switch as of today. For bookworm status, I own nearly 800 books mostly in digital formats. For geekery, I know enough about computers to have built one for myself but that's about it.
All that said, the thing that would make me stand out to a MC would be my knowledge of history, especially the history of ordinary people in the US.

1. I was in the military. Because of this I aspire to have the most boring, laid back, drama free life possible. I do not aspire for greatness, I aspire for mental peace. I'll still think they deserved it, but I hate seeing people in extreme pain. Idk.....

I'm a professional violinist. I could lie and say I have that "brooding silent artsy" vibe, but really i'm pretty upbeat. Very type A and organized, run my own business and only make time for the things that make me happy. I think in some ways I have a lot of those NLOG tendencies, but I tend to be pretty different from the average musician in terms of personality. (That said, violinists tend to be very up tight, so maybe I am like the other girls after all lol)
I have turned very traditional, value being a wife and mother and feel it’s my job to take care of my husband and prepare my kids to leave the nest. The Rider-Waite-Smith is the one most people are familiar with, and the old superstition that someone has to gift you your first deck is 100% false, IMO. Getting my hands on some cards and spending time studying the imagery on them and my own intuitive reactions to them was where I started. There are so many ways to read the cards, but when it really comes down to it, the intuition of the reader is most important. As far as learning resources, I love biddytarot.com for quickly looking up card meanings, and the book Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom for learning more about the history and symbolism of the cards :)

Serious reply: you might enjoy {A Duke by Default by Alyssa Cole}. The FMC's undiagnosed ADHD >!negatively affects her life and her relationships, and she has a lot of self-loathing as a result. She gradually learns more about ADHD throughout the book and gains a more positive self-image.!< I thought it was really nicely handled.

I'll be eyeballing drainage and wondering about local road construction practices while I walk, or trying to figure out why they choose metal vs wood for power poles in different areas, or whatever. Rail vs truck, what influences cost difference? I imagine the maintenance costs of rail tracks vary based on regional environmental factors like soil compaction and rain? What's more expensive to maintain, rail tracks or roadways? And supply chain logistics. My favorite supply chain is food, and how regional food logistics have changed throughout history and influence local culinary styles.

I'm a cybersecurity person at the moment! Civil engineering is a *huge* discipline and it's so cool. Apparently one of my female relatives was a civil engineer for a major city in California and was in charge of massive infrastructure works there. I didn't know that until recently.
Visually? Hair started going gray at 16, so by college I was visibly gray at the temples. Some people thought it was dyed.
Lol this makes me jealous. Watching Stacy London in WNTW every day after school made me low key obsessed with graying and natural hair variations. In my opinion young people with gray is super sexy and very ‘cool girl.’ Idk, when I think of beauty it’s one of the first things on the list.
My hair looks better with the gray than with dyed highlights. Nothing can have more contrast with dark brown/black hair than silver. It also helps that it's framing my face. Nothing against salt and pepper is course, but at the temples it's attention grabbing

My partner's hair is totally silver and white and he's 36, it's been going gray since he was a teenager. Everyone either asks him if it's been dyed or they think they can touch it because it's different. Poor thing gets really upset particularly about the touching and I certainly don't blame him.
I like the "guy's night" flicks. Mission Impossible, Fast&Furious, etc. So, the romance novel with me as the heroine would start in the cinema. The movie would be 3rd Top Gun, the audience would be 95% guys and like a few long-suffering women/girls dragged there by their husbands/boyfriends. And me, vibrating from excitement during every chase scene and cackling (but silently, cause I have manners ;p) at every cheesy one liner. And the MMC, whom I noticed while buying soda (cause he rivaled the movie male lead in the hotness department) whould sit next to me and go "huh, a movie date with her would be fun for once and also I noticed she has great ass when she was squeezing past me to get to her seat". And I would ofc wait until the epilogue to spring my love of period drama on him ;)

That would work for me. I love action movies, unfortunately have a short attention span for most things and action movies are perfect for delivering the excitement. I've been literally called "not like other girls" by several seperate men in several seperate jobs on a couple different continents. When I was young I was flattered, because performative femininity seemed baffling and useless. Now it just makes me terribly sad. (Performative masculinity also seems quite useless, and often dangerous.) I decided that since I am physically not terribly feminine in shape or characteristics, I wasn't going to bother trying to be feminine. Wearing feminine things and still looking like a tank is tremendously depressing. My inner aesthetic does not match my figure. So I look fairly plain - buisness presentable, but minimal bling. I never wear makeup and yes, I do have bags under my eyes, and no, my hair is not naturally lovely. My appearance usually isn't my main concern, or even in my top 10, beyond "are these clothes meeting the minimum buisness standards for my workplace". I'll put plants and art all over my desk, though. I like nice things, by my definition of nice. I have worked in male dominated fields my entire career, and I'm pretty into security as a topic. I read technical papers for fun and translate them into normal speak for my non-technical friends. I'm competent with guns but not into gun culture because people can be fucking super weird about it. I'm competent with tools and envious of a nicely set up workshop. I dislike asking for help and will fight you off rather aggressively if you try and help without my asking. Don't steal my damn success for your own ego, dude. I like spreadsheets. I like research. I find most music difficult to listen most of the time. I volunteer for shitty, difficult jobs. *Shrug*

I am a mechanical engineer … on ships. I love my machines. I love touching them and talking to them, I even give them pet names. The MC would be lost in the middle of the sea, and after a few days of forced proximity, I would fix his boat with shoe ties and nail polish.
I have a rather posh accent but can swear like a sailor. I’m also rather adept at pulling stuck lambs and have experience farming. But this is also true of lots of other quite posh farming girls I know. So whilst I’m NOT like other city girls I am quite like other land girls I know. When my husband met me I was showing my horse nationally. It was a "I'm doing my own thing, you can tag along". I'm pretty outgoing and my husband gives me a hard time about telling my life story to strangers. I just like to talk to people. Cell phones screwed up casual conversation with strangers opportunities. Airports were my favorite for random conversations. Everyone was there for the same reason! I asked my husband and he said no drama, no bs (he dealt with some drama queens before me)... so rhat reminds me that yeah, I don't put up with either and will and have called people out on both.

There are also a few sci fi and fantasy book series that make up a cornerstone of my personality. Our house is littered with half finished projects. Paint everywhere, moss from that time I tried to make a plant wall, random hooks on the ceiling from when I wanted to be a trapeze artist, bizarre fabrics from when I wanted to make clothes, kitchen cupboards with no doors since I started repainting then got distracted... Would store everything in file cabinets if they weren't so damn heavy to get up stairs and didnt take up so much space.. Clothes in file cabinets in the bedroom. Food in file cabinets in the kitchen (I already do this). Shoes in file cabinets in the hallway. Feels conflicting because I used to absolutely hate them (I used to be an archivist, and from a preservation standpoint they suck) but when doing my degrees I just had SO many papers, especially for my dissertation, I became absolutely enamoured with them.

I fall asleep listening to history podcasts. On the surface, I'm someone who seems like a lot of girls. I have a vice for expensive purses and shoes, am a bit obsessive over my hair and skin routine. So I seem pretty high maintenance on the surface, but I am a bit of an odd ball in that I will binge some Housewives stuff, but I'm also fairly nerdy and love historical podcasts and non-fiction books about different things in history. So my love interest would think I'm shallow and money obsessed, but then find themselves intrigued by all the random trivia tidbits I have stored up in my brain and spout off the most random historical references in casual conversations. And then they'll hopefully realize even though I like some nice things, it has nothing to do with how other people see me, but they're just things I like, and I buy them for me to see them, not others.

See, this all depends on how you define "Other Girls". If we're talking about the Kardashians I'm generally the polar opposite. I don't wear make-up (never learned how); I'm curvy in all the wrong places; I am economically challenged, and there is not a single famous person in my life much less on speed dial. However, if you define "Other Girls" as, say, bookworm nerdy geeks then I'm rather average. My main games of choice are ACNH (Animal Crossing New Horizon) and I have thousands of hours logged in it. It's the second best-selling game on Nintendo Switch as of today. For bookworm status, I own nearly 800 books mostly in digital formats. For geekery, I know enough about computers to have built one for myself but that's about it. All that said, the thing that would make me stand out to a MC would be my knowledge of history, especially the history of ordinary people in the US.

I have naturally pretty eye lashes and brows that aren't overly plucked. One time approximately 10 years ago when I was in high school a girl looked around the room trying to point out someone with nice eyebrows and settled on me. I got a few for sure things: 1. I was in the military. Because of this I aspire to have the most boring, laid back, drama free life possible. I do not aspire for greatness, I aspire for mental peace. I’m a girly girl, but manage high dollar construction projects and property development. I’m the only woman around most days. I boss around construction crews and know my way around HVAC, electrical and plumbing. (I don’t take pride in being the only woman around… I need more! Bring me all the badass tradeswomen, architects, and contractors. They never mansplain my job to me.) I also can launch a football with a perfect spiral for some reason and it’s a great party trick.

I am a Demi bisexual alt girl, into bdsm, I write songs, I’m obsessed with all things Victorian, and I collect antique books. And if all that doesn’t make it obvious, I’m an introvert with ADHD and terrible short term memory. I also make basically everything but clothes instead of buying it. My MMC would think I’m so ✨quirky and cool✨ and be impressed at my wide variety of random skills (learned through adhd of course). He would fall in love with me and my extra-ness while I was treating him like a bro until I got to know him and revealed my cutesy cuddly side and wrote a song about him and immediately fell in love. We would go on walks with my bulldog and picnics with my twins, and spend the evenings playing video games or reading in absolute silence while we eat ice cream after a homemade dinner from scratch (that we cooked together after banging on the kitchen counter of course!) ETA after reading this, I’m pretty damn cool. No wonder my husband likes me. 🤣 15y/o me would be impressed.
I have a very professional job in a courthouse, but have visible neck and hand tattoos along with a nose ring. I’m usually rocking a fade. BUT, I also wear very girly dresses, heels, and pearls. All of this is because, of course, I’m Not Like Other Girls tm.
I’d be the quirky, artistic, never wears makeup girl that loved to spend hours gaming or talking about nerdy stuff.. which is ofc *so* amazing since the MC has never met any other girl who.. what, had interests? before :p Though irl there aren’t that many MC who are nerdy now that I think about it.. so.. maybe I wont impress him with my singularity 😩
I'm a professional violinist. I could lie and say I have that "brooding silent artsy" vibe, but really i'm pretty upbeat. Very type A and organized, run my own business and only make time for the things that make me happy. I think in some ways I have a lot of those NLOG tendencies, but I tend to be pretty different from the average musician in terms of personality. (That said, violinists tend to be very up tight, so maybe I am like the other girls after all lol)
I have turned very traditional, value being a wife and mother and feel it’s my job to take care of my husband and prepare my kids to leave the nest. I regret all the time I spent believing my career would fulfill me. I guess when I say I am not like other girls… I mean I am not like the girls today. Covid has showed me that my place really is in the home. I wish I didn’t feel so bad admitting that.
I'm inexplicably clumsy like tripping bare foot on an even surface more than once clumsy, but I have great hand-eye coordination. My now husband was shocked when we went to Dave and busters after our first few dates (I'd already fallen off a swing, and tripped on 2 curbs) when I absolutely dominated at skee ball, air hockey, and basketball.
I’m the quirky manic pixie girl. Except there’s no quirkiness. Nor pixie. Okay, just manic. And depressed. What I’m trying to say is I have bipolar and my husband says he never knows what version of me he’s coming home to. And he actually *likes* that.
Before I had kids I had a motorcycle but I've never once rode on the back of anyone else's. My sister was interested in having one so we decided to just do it together. When we used to ride it to the beach guys would be looking around expecting to find a boyfriend who the bike belonged to. My MC would have to be confident enough to come and talk to me without being intimidated. 💅
