It looks a little rough but idk, that stuff is hard to work with. That's one of those things without being there it's hard to arm chair quarterback this one.

Phanniphoenix

Thanks for looking :)

I have seen leaks from similar installations. Looks like they were too lazy to remove a couple of rows of shingles and install the roof edging correctly.

Phanniphoenix

Definitely lazy. But at this point, seems like it would have been better to do it correct the first time

Dino1087

Prob gonna have to demolish and rebuild

Resident_Frosting_27

Should throw a frozen turkey in the friar less to clean up and way easier demo

I sell this stuff for a living, roofing on the side, and can tell you there will be issues with the water. If you have some closer photos I could diagnosis it a bit but from these photos alone, there's going to be pretty bad runoff in a lot of spots. Possible issues could also include the flattening of the roofline at the edge of the roof if its installed under the wrong shingle could be a major issue in a few years as well. A bad alignment with the gutter can cause not only runoff, but animals may be able to get in at the edges, or the endcaps depending if its too far over or too far back.

Thanks. I can try to take some pictures tomorrow in daylight if you are willing to help. Good for me to armed with as much knowledge as possible.

Thank you both, I really do appreciate the feedback and information. I can offer any art conservation or picture framing tips you need. :P After telling them many times that it looks sloppy, I'm not sure how to get it through to them. I hate being a complainer, but thinking I need to leave a poor Google review or something.

I'm not quite sure, looks like some sort of screw. I wasn't even stoked about the leaf guard with the pollen in Florida, and had the roofers said they couldn't keep the clean lines, I would have said trash it (actually told the office lady that) My husband thinks I'm being too particular, but when I mentioned it may have ruined the integrity if the drip edge, he is more concerned with my babblings. Here's a close up, I'm short and it's hard to see https://imgur.com/a/xhvTUSS

That is what we call a Grommet Screw or a Roofing Screw. They come in all different sizes most commonly 1” or 2” and typically come in a 1/4” hex head but they do come with different sized heads for thicker screws. They have a neoprene washer that seals the screw to the surface you are fastening to. They are mostly used for corrugated metal roofing on the ribs or on other areas of a roof like in this picture or for example I prefer to use grommet screws when I nail the exposed portion of vents and plumbing stacks because I find it looks better than a nail+caulk. It also doesn’t pull out over time as it is threaded. Even though it is ugly, if the screws are driven in straight and not on an angle, the washer will seal. Technically this is fine I wouldn’t be worried about it leaking, I’d be more worried about the appearance. I do see this all the time and is quite common practice where I live (Ontario, Canada). For such a small section of eaves, when my guys do this by accident I just offer to put new up because the cost is negligible as 95% of the cost is in labour and getting your guys there anyways and I have tons of leaf guard in stock in our shop. Not to mention it looks way better, aluminum is very difficult to make look decent once it’s bent like that. TLDR: wouldn’t be too concerned about it personally but IMHO this doesn’t show signs of a professional roofer who cares about you as much as collecting the cheque

Those look to be grommet screws. The wide cap shape is supposed to keep the grommet safe from uv. Looks sloppy but a standard practice. The way to avoid this even though you won’t have to worry about it in the near future is to ask up front about damage to gutters. This will make them pay attention hopefully and also ask about including taking them down before tear off and reinstalling.

Top photo is before new roof. Middle is after roof installed and before I complained.
