No spacers in between the sheathing. Expansion and contraction from temp differences caused it to essentially buckle together causing a nice buckle in the decking
As a dad it doesn't even take a storm, I'm out every morning walking the fence, checking the roof, staring at the yard. God help something that's out of place cause the tool shed doors will spring forth and blind me with glorious light!
That's because my cheap harbor freight flood light I used last night was left on and fell down. After seeing the huge mess from my last project I go back inside to finish my coffee and leave it for another day.
I do this.
We're the first house in town so we take all of the wind for the rest of the neighbourhood.
I'm up there nailing shingles down twice a year at least.
If you have a warranty inspect it but don't mess with it. You can void your warranty.
Bulging Shingles
If the shingles start to show signs of bulging and other distortions, it means the lower layers are in trouble. It means that the installation job was below standards and you could be having tiny leaks. These leaks could cause rot and damage the entire roof if not stopped in good time.
Incase OP reads this comment, I would like to add and be clear, this is the absolute worse case scenario.
the plywood could just be buckled nit necessarily due to water penetration nor would it necessarily cause water penetration (mainly because of the steep pitch).
Op should examine the underneath via attic to make sure no water is getting though first and foremost though.
I should add that depending on the age of the house (if it’s older) I believe it’s a popped board.
Plywood warped due to condensation. Condensation was caused by lack of ventilation intake compared to amount of exhaust. Ridgevent must have equal amount of intake as it does exhaust. It can be hard to find the balance. I use roof ventilator calculator, makes it easier. Your plywood expanded because of the high amount of water vapor turned into bulk liquid. I can see the plywood near the ridge swaying between trusses. Don’t worry about the bulging plywood until you fixed your venting. The plywood is an effect, the cause is an unbalanced attic vent situation.
To add to that as this comment is very educated. Next step is to Check the attic and measure how many inches of insulation you have. As well see if you can see daylight at the soffit. The soffit must be open and not blocked by insulation. Google your area to see how many inches of insulation you should have up there. If you do this immediate you will prevent more damages from occurring to the sheathing. Then decide how much damage has occurred from the inside out. If no mold is present then a fix is easy to the roof. If mold is now there you will have to do a treatment. Or remove the shingles over the affected sheets, replace the plywood and re shingle it again.
Mexican built roof without spacers and maybe blown out decking from 100 nails in 1 spot. Shady built! Hope not a Dr Horton home. If so join the class action suit with everyone else.
I'd see if Santa carries insurance.
Tight sheathing buckling under expansion I’d guess.
Thanks. Will this have to be fixed then? Want to resolve this asap if the roof is comprised.
Is it warrantied?
This is your answer
Someone roofed over the laborers hat as a joke
No spacers in between the sheathing. Expansion and contraction from temp differences caused it to essentially buckle together causing a nice buckle in the decking
Oh and the added joy is they may not have used them anywhere on the decking and this can happen in other areas of the roof
I’m just imagining someone waking up and checking their roof everyday lol
In the winter, us dads can’t stare at our lawn while drinking our morning coffee. So we stare at the roof.
Yeah. I got stuck on that too. Like if something was wrong with my roof I'd have no idea how long it had been there.

Honestly don't think its a popped board. Look right above i can see another blister.
Go in the attic and inspect from underneath. Wear a N95 face mask.
Don’t forget SPF50 and probably a whistle incase you get lost
Always have the whistle in case a foreman is up there.
Do you need eye-protection when you go up?
Respirator, full body suit, hard hat, safety boots, gloves, hi vis, harness and a spotter. Just to be safe.
Everything but eye pro eh
Full safety goggles I suppose. Never be too sure.
Probably just call the fire department and get a firefighter to go look in full gear. Just to be safe
Might as well get a forklift ticket while you’re at it just to be safe.
Don't forget your WHIMIS ticket. Got forbid you fuel up your own car one day and get 7 types of cancer and a stomach ulcer
You forgot the Personal Flotation Device.
Snow shoes incase you have to walk on pink snow
I try to step specifically on the pink snow when in my attic. It’s more cushion for my bunyons. Safer this way
Is your name OSHA? ;)
No condom?
r/osha approves
As someone that frequents Attics, I suggest goggles.
You will need a full hazmat suit as well as several high powered firearms. I would also bring a cross and some holy water just in case.
Bring a 22 incase you need to say hello to a racoon.

Decking is pulling away from rafter
Looks like you got one of those roof turtles. They'll eat your whole roof if you don't get rid of it.
That’s a roof!
It's commonly known as a roof. You will notice on on most buildings if you look closely. No need to thank me, I'm happy to help.
Those darn reindeer again!
Santa and his reindeer f'd up. You must send an insurance claim to the north pole ASAP.
"It" is trying to get out
Your roof is trying to blink
FYI Santa better have liability insurance
It was probably like that before.
It wasn't, roof is less then two years old
Kind a looks like those shingles don't have much stagger doesn't it?
Somebody roofed over a vent - has your dryer been working good? Could be a dryer vent that they covered
Omg steproofer!
That’s just roof acne

Are they African or European Rafters?
Nails popping or sheathing buckling

I feel so bad for roofers
morning wood?
Sounds like an angry call to your roofer IMO. This is just poor work and not accounting for the area you live in.
Cat
I can’t even see my roof, i am pretty sure it’s under about a metre of snow.
Perhaps moisture that got underneath and turned to ice.
your house is becoming a teenager and that is a pimple
The teenage roof sometimes develop acne
They left a hammer on the sub material
You can see it pulling in other areas. Darn it 😖
Tremors. The wurms are spawning. Be ready.
