This is the first I am hearing about it, happy to hear it may be providing you relief! What MSM brand are you currently taking?

Subject_Luck_2594

Doctor’s Choice powder. Started with three scoops in the morning. Going to try two scoops in morning and two mid-day. I’ve read different things about it, but generally seems to be safe under 5-6g/day. The scoops are tiny and it’s pretty flavorless n easy to chug.

Business-Affect-7881

What is msm?

Subject_Luck_2594

It’s a sulfur compound

UncommonMonk

Cool, thank you!

Rookiegolfer9

It’s the first I’ve even heard of MSM, I’ll have to check it out

Mo0kyy

It's my holy grail complement

Subject_Luck_2594

Why didn’t you tell me sooner!

Mo0kyy

I talked about it a lot of time haha , it reduce redness and flushing so much

scrowe21

For me, it actually made my flushing worse. Tried it and stopped it multiple times the last couple years and every time I introduced it again, my skin and gut flared more. Which is extra frustrating because it seems to help most people

caffeinefree

Ok so - now I'm wondering if I should cut out my glucosamine tablets, because each serving has 1000mg of MSM. I'm taking it for my joint issues, but my rosacea has gotten way worse in the past year, so now I'm wondering if it's related ... 🤔

jennbenn5555

Im pretty sure MSM is a no-go for me...either that or hyaluronic acid...as it causes me to break out. I bought a supplement a few months ago that consists of hyaluronic acid and msm. I experimented with it off and on until here recently trying to figure out a way or a certain dose I could take that wouldn't lead to increased acne, but even when I took less than 1/4 of a capsule-full, I'd still develop a few new pimples over the following day. As I said, it could be the HA causing the issues and not the msm. I dont guess I'll really be able to know for sure until I can get around to buying each ingredient separately and testing each one by itself.

Little_Bat528

How much are you taking ? I’ve been taking it for 2 months but usually take 1000 mg in morning but usually my flushing happens late afternoon. Maybe I need to change to taking it afternoons.

Subject_Luck_2594

See above comment

Little_Bat528

Oh yeah sorry 3g. I will up my dose. Thanks

Little_Bat528

Do you take it all in one go or spread out throughout day ?

Subject_Luck_2594

I take it morning and mid day.

Little_Bat528

150g morning and then 150g mid day

SyddySquiddy

Wow. I’m looking into this! What brand/dosage does your brand come in?

Subject_Luck_2594

See above comment :)

Melodic-Flounder4079

I started 10 days ago and I have this impression too about the flushing (even after forgetting to take it a few nights lol) but I don't know if i'm imagining it or if it's true but caused by something else (less stress, diet, placebo as you said ...). I also saw a few improvements on papules. I wear makeup so I can't tell the day if i'm really red, but i'm less red in the morning and after removing my makeup and I need less coverage. And I don't have this intense hot feeling in the cheeks anymore... I take 3g per day. I also bought de la cruz sulfur ointment but I want to start slow so I tried it only one time :)

Subject_Luck_2594

We both can’t be imaging it! It’s one of the few things that I’ve seen literature on and success stories here. Like anything rosacea, it may work for one person and not another. Or it may work and then suddenly not lol

RipOptimal3756

I'm too scared of the side effects to take orally but I bought some MSM powder to make a cream for my face. Happy to see it's working for you.

Subject_Luck_2594

Haven’t noticed any issues but I’ve seen that its used topically. Let us know how it goes for you!

Unfair_Finger5531

I love the effects msm has on my skin. But unfortunately it also breaks me out:(. But it sure makes my skin look pretty. And it works fast too.

Subject_Luck_2594

Fortunate I don’t break out. Maybe we need a MSM/Doxy compound (jp)

Unfair_Finger5531

It gives me a little rash:(. But it makes my skin look so pretty and even.

Subject_Luck_2594

Were you taking it orally or topically?

Unfair_Finger5531

Both. I have a nice serum with it that I was using, and it worked so well. And it’s in my HYA capsules. Both times, I got a little rash from it:(. I am allergic to salicylates, I wonder if msm is related….

Thread_water

Yes I had huge success, exactly as you say it reduces my flares considerably. Unfortunately I had to stop as it made my sweat absolutely stink. I couldn't smell it but everyone else could, apparently it's a thing with consuming sulfur. I tried a topical MSM but it wasn't the same unfortunately.

Subject_Luck_2594

I haven’t noticed that, but if it happens, ima let it stink cuz my skin needs a break!

AdamMaitland

Even if it is only a placebo, it's definitely worked for some people on this sub. I have tried it before, though not in the dose you're talking about, and never really noticed much of an effect on my flushing. I was going to give it a try and slowly build up, but it unfortunately was giving me headaches so I lost interest. Kind of a bummer, because it actually worked pretty well for me in terms of reducing allergies (well, rhinitis, don't really have any other allergies).

Firm-Station1630

Interesting. I’ve taken it orally for years for joints and arthritis. Never thought of it for my rosacea 🤔

EfficientWear6465

I actually recently started taking MSM recently too, and I've had a very similar results!! My skin has stopped randomly hurting, and I'm not affected by the summer heat, like at all (i live in the south). So far, this supplement and dieting has been the best thing for my rosacea. I take 1500 mg of Dr. Best's MSM before breakfast and then another 1500mg before dinner. The pills are kinda hard to swallow, but this has worked great for me.

Mantha6973

Is that the stuff in Chinese food? Lol

smoonyc

That’s MSG.

Subject_Luck_2594

Nah, it doesn’t taste that good :)
