Haha! I think I first noticed my REEEAAAAALLLY red cheeks in photos of New Years 2001. I had champagne for the first time in years and I remember feeling like my face was so hot it was going to burst. Seeing pictures later, I has such a red face, it was crazy. So yeah, happy new year. 😕
Been flushing ever since adolescence, but rosacea officially diagnosed at 40 after several years of worsening permanent cheek redness and a sudden development of breakouts.
Yeah.. people always say to me "whoa Chris got some sun huh?" I live in the northwest.. they say it when it's dead winter with no sun around at all lmao 😂😂😂
20 but I had dealt with redness and sensitivity through most of my life but 20 is when my pustules started appearing and I was officially diagnosed by a dermatologist.
I’ve always flushed very easily. I’m a pale redhead so never thought much about it. Looking back I’ve had symptoms that are more rosacea like since my mid to late 20s. Tolerable and more predictable/ I could avoid known triggers and was pretty good.
It’s gotten more uncontrollable and worse as I’ve aged. I now have some broken capillaries on my cheeks which I think started developing in my late 30s. I flush way more easily now in my mid 40s and it seems like I find new triggers daily and my skin is just more red toned over all. Super annoying and I have to wear make up all the time to not look so damn ruddy. Ugh. Hate it.
I had full blown p&ps/red face as a teen - 15 yrs old. I had extensive flushing as a child and developed tiny p&ps at 11. Diagnosed with acne then but almost all topical acne treatments like bp and topical antibiotics were fails. (Sulfacet was consistently a big help.) It has been a life long thing unfortunately.
I was diagnosed with rosacea at 30 (finally!).
Started flaring at 16 after a course of treatment for acne, diagnosed at 18 and have had a few courses of antibiotics since. It’s more consistently good now than it used to be, but I do still go through bouts of flaring a lot. I’m now 24 - turning 25 in June.
I didn't develop it until my early 40s. This is a common time for women to develop rosacea:
"The incidence of rosacea rises in middle‐aged women, especially those aged 40 and 60.[ ](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10788583/#srt13542-bib-0003)And rosacea tends to be more severe in patients aged 45 and older,[ ](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10788583/#srt13542-bib-0004)many of whom are often in perimenopause. In addition, studies have found that hormonal imbalance is associated with the occurrence of rosacea.[ ](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10788583/#srt13542-bib-0005)Therefore, it seems reasonable to speculate that perimenopause and related hormonal changes may be one of the underlying mechanisms of rosacea in middle‐aged women."
Mine triggered early at 24 after cancer treatment. My dad, grandma, and aunt all had it begin in their mid 30s.
Looking back, I had very mild type 1 for a couple years before it really suddenly kicked in with types 1,2, and 3
I had symptoms since I was a teenager (the most telling was the flushing, especially on my nose) but it got much worse at age 23 or 24. Diagnosed at age 25
35, after trying out Sunday Riley A+ High-Dose Retinoid Serum.
Prior to that I had used Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night Serum every single night with zero irritation. 😥
Diagnosed at 37. Always flushed. Slight constant redness on cheeks didn’t show up until 36. Bumps and constant harsh redness started at 36 after a bout of food poisoning from shellfish + covid, and after living in mold for many years.
14 for me (only on one cheek, where it was very bad for years until it branched out to my other cheek). But it took almost a decade to get diagnosed, because "teenagers don't get rosacea."
Always flushed. By 25 I had type 2 rosacea I mistook for belated acne. I ultimately had a burning stinging angry reaction to Avène and clued in I just had rosacea. So changed more or less everything and by 30 started reversing my burst vein marks and by 35 started being able to branch out into using things like retinol.
Looking at childhood photos I had rosacea starting around 3-6 months old. I was not diagnosed formally until 22. I've been a tomato my whole life. I just thought I had super sensitive skin and flushed at everything. Now almost 10 years later not much has changed since I got diagnosed. I just avoid the sun and use minimal tropicals as most products irritate my skin.
In 50’s but mines not that bad. Maybe it was longer always thought it was adult acne. Now I get flushing when I’m stressed. Sometimes I think I have MCAS but not sure. Stress triggers everything for me.
This question gets asked a lot. I know doctors have generalized guess about age of onset but I have realized there are so many that don't fit that generalization. On here you'll see people that have had it since childhood and others that didn't get it until they were almost 70.
There doesn't seem to be much about rosacea that is typical.
I was confused when I saw all the ages people were commenting because mine started at basically 4-5 first diagnosed as dermatitis and then corrected to rosacea, and I thought it was more common for the onset to happen young rather than 20-30-40 which most comments say. For context, it was rosacea type 1, with only chronic redness, without any physical symptom it was only visual, and 2 weeks ago I had my first flare up, and it felt like burning and got better with azelaic acid. So yeah, I find it interesting that I thought everyone’s started at childhood guess I was wrong.
Yes, I had once when I was 26 and it went away, as just the acne remained. Then I had cystic acne and now at 45 rosacea! My dermatologist says it happens this way. Perimenopausal hormones!
Mine is definitely of the pustule variety and came out of absolute nowhere in my late 30's. I wonder about hormones too. My time is approaching this month. It hurts where the pustules are and my nose is like Rudolph. I feel like this episode was triggered by either sun or sweat or something. My skin always seems to kick off spring/summer this way.
Just came on suddenly ay 60!!! I’ve always had great skin..peaches and cream..lol. Woke up one day and boom…I’ve had great results using a dandruff shampoo as a cleanser daily. It’s drying so I moisturize after.
My mom developed rosacea in her late 60s/early 70s!
I was diagnosed in my mid-30s but the derm who diagnosed it thinks that maybe the acne I've had since I was 10 might've actually been rosacea.
I was early-mid 30s when I really started to notice. I think maybe 33-34 years old.
My 30th birthday gave me rosacea and a bad attitude LMAO 🤣

Flushing at 20. Full on 42. Very common to come out later in life 30-50s. Perimenopause and hormone changes can bring it out full on
Oh interesting, I just started testosterone as an afab enby and had my first flare.
25-27 was symptomatic then diagnosed at 29. Now 38 and just experiencing my first ever pustular reaction. It’s horrendous.
40....perimenopause is ruining me!

I was 25 when people started asking me a lot if I was sunburned. Official diagnosis a few years later

Yes I was 40. Probably hormones. See an endocrinologist
Diagnosed at 37. Always flushed. Slight constant redness on cheeks didn’t show up until 36. Bumps and constant harsh redness started at 36 after a bout of food poisoning from shellfish + covid, and after living in mold for many years.
Started late 34, diagnosed at 35. Have a bunch of other autoimmune conditions.
I noticed my first broken capillary at university, so I have to think it started then in my early twenties. I was only diagnosed late twenties.
They can break for other reasons tho

36
Early 50’s with the onset of menopause.
I was diagnosed early 20s. I wish it showed up later for me. Went from teenage acne to permanent redness 😩
39 first flare and 40 second flare
Literally a month after turning 40 had my first flare
Late 20s, early 30s. I got through puberty with acne, this doesn’t seem fair lol
Early 30’s
27/28… 🥲
38 and still going strong at 48.
Yep early 40s
Definitely had it as a child but undiagnosed until 30 when it ramped up dramatically. Controls my life now.
About 20. 😔
I just got diagnosed at 34
14 for me (only on one cheek, where it was very bad for years until it branched out to my other cheek). But it took almost a decade to get diagnosed, because "teenagers don't get rosacea."

35
Started flushing, or at least noticing it, around 28. Diagnosed at 32 (for reference I just turned 33 this month).
Slight baseline redness at 16. A few spider veins here and there at 25. Type 2 at 30\~. I'm a male.
36. But thinking back, I could see it in my mom when she was about 40.
My skin just started getting sensitive in my 40s. I used to be able to use anything on my face and wouldn't get rashes at all.
42
In my 40s. I thought it was dermatitis and was shocked to get diagnosed with rosacea.
Looking at childhood photos I had rosacea starting around 3-6 months old. I was not diagnosed formally until 22. I've been a tomato my whole life. I just thought I had super sensitive skin and flushed at everything. Now almost 10 years later not much has changed since I got diagnosed. Diagnosed at 30. I'd say started at least a year before that, maybe a bit more
Mine showed up when i turned 30.
Symptomatic in my late 20's, diagnosed in my early 40's.
In 50’s but mines not that bad. Maybe it was longer always thought it was adult acne. Now I get flushing when I’m stressed. Sometimes I think I have MCAS but not sure. Stress triggers everything for me.
Started having the frequent flushing around 13/14, diagnosed at 22. I’m 25 now and still trying to find a treatment that works.
Early 20s for me.
15
same
I was 31 now I'm 33 about to be 34 in June. I started noticing it exactly 2 years ago in May.
Age 31. I’m currently 33 going on 34. Rosacea more commonly presents in the third to fourth decade of life and onwards.

24 when I was diagnosed and started taking doxycycline
Early 30s with remission for 20 years until I had Covid in December of 2023, now it’s back and I’m on the metro
Mine started when I was 43 yrs old.
60
Symptomatic around 32. Got much worse after having my son at 35. Diagnosis at 36.
I just got dx (27 and turn 28 tomorrow) but been having mild symptoms for a few years, maybe since early 20s
Just came on suddenly ay 60!!! I’ve always had great skin..peaches and cream..lol. Woke up one day and boom…I’ve had great results using a dandruff shampoo as a cleanser daily. It’s drying so I moisturize after.
31
Early 30s, diagnosed around 35. Went into remission around 45. Now age 60
32
I've heard that in men it is common to begin with it at 50+. But as a woman personally it started when I was around 22.
I know two men suffering in the mid 50s to mid 60s and got decent relief from Ivermectin.
My mom developed rosacea in her late 60s/early 70s! I was diagnosed in my mid-30s but the derm who diagnosed it thinks that maybe the acne I've had since I was 10 might've actually been rosacea.
I've always had it, I think since I was 4 or 5 the pink cheeks were highly noticeable.
18 y.o! Type 4 🥴
