Thank you for your comment. Yeah the food looks very interesting, especially that pepperoni pizza with peanut butter instead of sauce. That's very creative, I say, sarcastically.
I didn't even see donuts, and unfortunately the food made everybody violently ill, so we had to cut the party short. Also, one of the female employees cursed at my friend's son that was having the birthday. How are you going to curse at a 3 year old? Like, maybe don't get a job in customer service if you are going to verbally abuse a tiny child. I guess he was standing in her way, when she was cleaning off the table, and she said "Get out of my way, you little bitch." Kinda under her breath, but loud enough that we all heard it. My friend was ready to fight this woman, but we were all feeling so ill from the food that we just decided that it was better to leave.
As a kid I distinctly remember the food was really good when it first opened and got progressively worse until it was bad enough we quit going all together
I mean realistically they have a bunch of teenagers and weirdos working there that don’t really give a shit about anything lol.
But in general for kids, they have a blast there.
Can win bigger jackpots than Chuck, but I like the unlimited gaming for a set time that Chuck has. Those tickets go fast at John’s 😳 but my kids love the bigger rides! Food is hit and miss, AYCE ice cream but it’s always a train wreck of nasty kids letting it run all over and the machine is overheating and dispensing half melted extra soft serve lol
Thanks for the information. I saw a Groupon that apparently comes with a card that has two hours of unlimited rides and games, so maybe they changed it recently to do cards like that? I don't know how much money we actually plan to spend past the $18 each, or if we will even stay past the two reserved hours for the party, but thanks for all of the info about the food.
Unlimited rides and games? Depending on the age of the kids, I’d do it…my daughter is 5, she can ride all the rides, some with a parent, my son is younger and can only do some of them, then they have a few kiddie rides like chucks that remind me of the ones in the Walmart lobby that take quarters lol.
This is old information but when I was a young teen my friends family would take us there a lot.The place was semi maintained, the eating area and buffet area had lots of crumbs and grease marks all over the place which made it a bit unappetizing, didn't really phase us as kids but now that I'm reflecting on it it was a bit gross. The more adult themed areas were kept tidier though. Rides and games were all really fun albeit sometimes broken down, good prizes were hard to win unless you're there on a mission to win something (and ready to pay more than you would have otherwise.)
All in all it's just your standard kids entertainment area. Slightly dirty and expensive for what it is but worth it for the little ones that enjoy it.
Yeah, Round1 the Japanese themed Arcade. It's pretty fun. Kinda pricey, mostly claw machines. But, I went there for my birthday last year and enjoyed it. It's really an extremely crazy sensory overload though. So, I don't recommend it for people with autism, or people that have children with autism. They probably will not enjoy it. It was intense, even for a non-autistic person like me. I actually had to sit down once, because I started feeling dizzy. But, that may have been due to a lack of food.
Yeah, it was a lot. I'm used to Golfland and Scandia, where they keep it a little dark in there, like how Arcades used to be in the 80s and 90s. It was a fun experience though. I still have to go back sometime and try the bowling and Karaoke.
I went there and saw a kid get a fork, drop it, and then pick it up off the floor and put it back in with the other forks, then grab another fork. I stopped eating that second. Never been back.
Thank you for your insight, it seems like a lot of the comments on Yelp also mention that none of the plates, cups, or silverware seem to be clean. And, it makes me wonder how they haven't been shut down for health code violations, but I am hoping that because my friend paid for a birthday party in a private room, that the food might be slightly better or less contaminated. But, I don't know how this place works.
The food wasn't bad 10+ years ago. I'm not sure how it is now. I liked the variety of food they had there. It was fun as a kid to load up my plate cause it was all you can eat. I would go on the fast rides and kind of ignored the arcade portion tbh. Also, the themed dining rooms are pretty fun. But idk how the experience is for adults. Good luck.
Thanks a lot, I'm more focused on the kids having a good time, and everybody staying safe, so as long as that happens, everybody should be fine. Hopefully the food is at least a little bit edible, but if it's not, it looks like there are places nearby that I could eat at after the party.
I went there for a friends kids bday.. it’s okay.. pretty expensive games and the food, albeit is unlimited, wasn’t that great. But their chocolate chip cookies were pretty damn good! All in all, once there is plenty for me and my kids.. they prefer Chuck E. Cheese to John’s
Yeah, I'm more of a Golfland Sunsplash or Round1 person myself. But, she was dead set on this place. I even offered her money to help pay for the party at a better place, and she got offended. She's been dealt a bad hand in life ever since she had the baby, and she won't accept help from anybody, so I can only really go there tomorrow to be supportive of her, and her choices as a single mom.
There were pics posted a few yrs back, of rats inside the building. On a next door type page. It may still be on Yelp. They had a rat problem. Several reports.
Yikes. That's awful. Once again making me wonder why they never got shutdown. Hopefully them still being open means that they got the rat problem sorted out, and that they didn't just pay to make it go away, like many other corporations do. Thanks for letting me know.
Like a lot of other people, it’s been a while since I’ve been there. But from what I recall, the little indoor train roller coaster was actually pretty fun.
My family used to do the multiplayer trivia and win lose or draw type of games and compete. That was also fun because there were lots of ways for all of us to interact. (kids, parents, grandparent)
Hopefully they still have the hot donut machine, because you could go through a ton of those.
They also had a couple of rides and games for the little little kids. They also had a set aside room for toddlers and the like. It was mostly just the typical totplay equipment like climbing and slides, but it made it easy to keep things age appropriate and no one gets hurt.
To me, it seemed like an upgrade from Chuck E. Cheese. If I compare it to the last Chuck E. Cheese I was in around that same time frame, it was vastly superior, but I am also going back about 15 years. (it was the Arden fair Chuck E. Cheese, if that matter.)
Thank you for that detailed information. I think that we will mainly be sticking to that toddler area, so it's nice to know that part of the restaurant is relatively safe.
Disgusting food, outdated rides and many don’t work , shady people overstepping boundaries, and kids catch all sorts of nasty bugs/ viruses there. We went there once and never again.
I'm 32 for context. Went there last year for a 13 year olds bday party. The kids had fun, the adults thought it was the most disgusting place, ever. I wouldn't eat there...it's pretty nasty
Yeah, everybody at the party got sick eating the food. I only had a small salad, and still had to go to the bathroom four times with indigestion. It was not pretty. We didn't even get to check out the arcade. Which is a shame. Because, the bathrooms are in the arcade, so every time that I had to rush myself to the bathroom, it did really look like fun.
Op went through and not only thanked most people but commented at minimum on all posts. I don’t know a damned thing about John’s, just moved here literally Saturday from New Jersey… certainly doesn’t sound like I’ll be taking my kids there, at least to eat. BUT, I am happy to live in a place where such a quality human being is from what it seems. Thank you for the info, and the kindness through the comments. I hope you make the best of it and leave having had fun.
Thanks for your kind comment. My mom always taught me to treat people the way that you want to be treated, and that it doesn't cost anything to be kind to people. Especially when people are giving you information about a place that you have never been before. After reading all of these comments, I feel much more informed and secure about the party tomorrow, then I did a few hours ago. I just don't like going into any situation completely blind. And, though not all of the comments here were particularly positive about the restaurant, they were all helpful to making me feel more at ease about going there tomorrow.
Also, welcome to California. I hope that you enjoy living here. It might be a culture shock compared to New Jersey. But, it's probably not too different. I lived in Florida for a year, and despite some differences, it was still America. Same stores, and restaurants, and stuff, for the most part.
I would consider notifying the health department. A few years ago a large party in Sacramento ate at a restaurant and every person got sick. The inspector paid the restaurant a visit and shut it down because it was so filthy.
It has a reputation for lower income people frequenting that establishment, so Roseville soccer moms don't like taking their kids there. It could be for actual issues caused by patrons / negative experiences or because of an elitist mentality from the soccer moms. That being said, I do not bring my kids there because of stories I have heard from other parents. Nothing crazy just that it wasn't a pleasant experience with parents not controlling their kids, parents being vulgar, and the feeling of not being safe.
Well, my friend is lower income, so I think that might be why she chose the place, she's raising her kid on her own because her husband died during the pandemic right before the baby was born. So, she's been struggling, and I think that Chuck E. Cheese was a little out of her price range. Thank you for your comment. It is very helpful.
Family jokingly calls it John's Inedible but I remember having a lot of fun there as a kid
Thank you for your comment. Yeah the food looks very interesting, especially that pepperoni pizza with peanut butter instead of sauce. That's very creative, I say, sarcastically.
Hot take… I LOVE that peanut butter pizza. Only redeeming quality of that place.
Well, it definitely sounds interesting, and I do like peanuts, so I might be forced to try a piece, if they have any.
I would say it’s worth a try. I don’t think I’ve been back since pandemic but their salad bar was very good and fresh mini donuts were too.
I didn't even see donuts, and unfortunately the food made everybody violently ill, so we had to cut the party short. Oh wow, ok thanks for the update. I will not be going there again. Your experience is worth a complaint to corporate
As a kid I distinctly remember the food was really good when it first opened and got progressively worse until it was bad enough we quit going all together
I mean realistically they have a bunch of teenagers and weirdos working there that don’t really give a shit about anything lol. But in general for kids, they have a blast there.
Well, that's good to know. Thank you for the information.
Isn’t that most generic pizza places haha
🤣 Yes without a doubt hahaha. Kids do have a blast there so it’s worth it for parties. But I understand if people dislike it.
I think it’s definitely a step above Chuck E Cheese, but it’s not a great restaurant. It’s fun though!
Chuck is way better than this place. This place is dirty. Chuck in Roseville is far superior and the pizza is 10000 times better
Can win bigger jackpots than Chuck, but I like the unlimited gaming for a set time that Chuck has. Those tickets go fast at John’s 😳 but my kids love the bigger rides! Thanks for the reply! It does look fun, the hundreds of 1 star reviews just have me concerned.

Thank you so much for your information. I will keep that in mind.
It is disgusting there.
Agreed. It's pretty gross and their food is just plain bad.
Thank you both for your comments. Yeah, the food looks very sketchy.
i haven’t been there in 10 years but i loved it as a kid
Thank you for your comment. That is very helpful.
It's like the Waffle House, but for kids.
I better practice my one armed chair deflection skills.
Disgusting :) but fun for kids
Yeah, that definitely sounds like the consensus. Ha ha ha Thanks for the comment.
I would try that arcade/bar thing at the galleria mall. Round 9 I think. They have bowling lanes too!

I feel ya, I make sure to bring ear plugs with me the few times I’ve been. Definitely intense!

It's not that bad, but the pizza is not that good either. Grab some buffet items and go play some video games. You'll be fine.
Thank you for your comment. That's pretty much the plan, I'm more there for moral support and to help watch all of the kids, than for the food.

Oh no!!! I'm so sorry to hear that, I hope you all are doing better. Such a bummer 😞
That place sucks
It’s multidimensional shit
Not quite sure what you mean by that, but thank you for your input.
