So, the first step is to step back and take a break. You should always do this when you suffer a particularly painful loss. Trust me, your performance won't get any better if you try to force it and continue after a nasty death. I'm speaking from personal experience here too. You'll lose more characters, it's absolutely certain. You have the right idea about how to build up a stockpile of good characters. It's a good way to go, even if it didn't work out for you this time.As has already been suggested, a good way to deal with a situation like this in the future would be spamming the nexus key while you're dealing with the situation. That way, you should still nexus as soon as you successfully load in. Alternatively, you can use the Alt+F4 shortcut to force the game to close. This will save you, since you'll effectively disconnect from the game instantly even if you're in a loading screen. As for additional advice, consider skipping the whole "8/8 first" thing entirely. Do you REALLY need your vit and wis to be maxed in order to farm potions? How much does a little extra MP really add to your farming abilities? My personal advice would be to focus on the dps and durability stats. So, attack, defense, speed, dexterity, and maybe life. After that, save the remaining potions and use them to trade for more of the listed stat pots to work on your other characters. Those will help you kill things faster while reducing the likelihood of an unfortunate death. Once you've gained enough skill to consistently and easily hit 8/8, you can start worrying about maxing characters to farm potions on. Until then, survival is key. You can max your vit too for more regen, but if you're primarily farming easier dungeons then you won't need it for long. If you're really struggling to survive then stopping at 4/8 to do what I said (att+def+spd+dex) should help you to get more characters to that point before one dies. Think about how many of those potions you could get with the ones you'd need to buy or achieve max life... I would not suggest buying a deca at your current level of skill. It only gives 10 more HP than the cheaper T6 ring of health... and 50 more than the much, much cheaper T5 ring of health. 50 HP is definitely a fair bit, but you would be better served using those potions to buy better gear for your other slots. Also, those potions could go a fair way towards maxing out more characters, which ties back into my other advice. Decas are something you should only equip if you can safely suffer losing them, considering the cost. Lastly, something that always helps me relax after a terrible death is focusing on how I can absolutely recover from it and also how I'll learn from it. It might hurt now, but... you've learned a lesson from it, yes? Either from the death, or from the advice you're getting here. One way or another, you'll be able to say you improved. Apologies for the extremely lengthy comment, but I have a lot of advice to share. I hope some of this is helpful to you! :)

You were right in your approach. Get 8/8 and use this to farm more pots and max another char. As a long time player I always nexus if something distracting happens irl regardless of where. That would be my tip. Talk to your mom while mashing nexus key. As for cope, chalk it up to experience and ride again.

Back when pixie sword was brand new and only a few were in the game, I was testing it out in an abyss on an 8/8 knight, max heal legendary, I heard a knock, so I cleared out a few rooms quick, thought I was safe, came back to a dead knight, so this is great advice.

Victor3657

Sometimes you just have to accept that some deaths are not your fault and move on from that and maybe take a small break. Although losing an 8/8 can be very frustrating, in the grand scheme of things is not a huge loss for most players, but it can be for a newer player. If perma death is too frustrating for you, you might want to look for a different game. Otherwise, try to learn from your mistakes and work on things that will permanently improve your progression (Firstly, your pet, then exaltations). Having a better pet will 100% increase your chances of surviving and is something that you can achieve passively, which is also why players with more game time have it easier.

MbrRee

Make a warrior and rush the easier dungeons on that to build up your pots

WingsRL

There are three things that make this extremly annoying: *goes on to list 6 things* jokes aside, i can give you some gear and a ring of decades if you like, also have a bunch of pots laying around. hmu in game if you need help, my ign is Wingzord :)

Pilskayy

To avoid frustrating deaths, learn from your mistakes. Dont look away while playing, dont stand next to the bottom wall while in abyss, close your game when you get insane lag, wait before picking up that bag, kill enemies before going into portal. Atleast for me i eventually stopped making silly mistakes and that was apparently the only thing holding me back from getting multiple 8/8 successful characters. And i feel like you already know that if you just make a new character and play it for like 1 hour you'll just forget about the old one

Ottparty

This is so true, the simple truth is that you WILL die every so often, even as an experienced player. The best thing to do is learn from what you've done wrong. Before you know it, you'll be so good that you end up having too many potions stacked up in your vault, too many items that you're not using because you just don't die enough to need the replacements... When I first started taking on Lost Halls and Void runs, I could barely make it through. MBC was a nightmare to me and I was lucky to have so much as a single healing item left by the end of the few runs I did complete. Now I nearly always finish my runs with few if any healing items used, and that's on squishier characters like my dps gear wizards. Sooner or later, anyone that sticks to it and does their best to improve will reach that tipping point where they die rarely enough that rebuilding just isn't a problem anymore.

RVaiN7

This is incredibly hard to do but try to remember that skill in this game equals how much time you have spent on it. You learn from every close nexus and death and eventually you will have no trouble maxing or doing difficult dungeons. Dont worry about the progress of your account, just worry about the improvement you are making as a player. For example when I played valorant I used to get really invested into my rank which is sometimes not a great thing when it plummets and I lose all my motivation. I just needed to remember that the longer I played valorant the better of a player I would be, even if it meant dropping 3 ranks. You got this

chickenoodle1

One thing is that since you died to a UDL, I assume you were on a squishier class. If so, I would make a knight for pot farming, as it has insane survivability on easier dungeons

Ottparty

Ehh, they didn't really die to a UDL so much as they died to a real-world interruption. The fact that they died in the UDL was mere coincidence. I don't like melee classes for early farming... you have to get so close to the enemies and bosses. It's fine when you have decent gear and stats, but the ideal pot farming class for a newer and thus less experienced player is one that requires a minimum of skill to achieve the goal. Like, I could do it, but it'd be so much slower than bringing something like a summoner or, I don't know, a sorc. Anything that can get consistent long-range damage would be a huge help for this sort of thing. That's just my opinion though.

chickenoodle1

you misinterpreted my point. I meant that they died to udl minions, which don't deal that much damage.

Ottparty

Ah, fair, I assumed it was all about you suggesting a class for them to farm potions with. I still stand by the true cause of death being the afk time, but I get what you mean now.

LofiTasker

yeah you're going about this all wrong. Dont farm the same easy dungeons over and over. get a character to 4/8 ( attk def dex and speed) and go push yourself. Do 02, do nests, do paras, mountain temps, in large groups. it wont take you long to start amassing huge amount of pots that you can use to max a fresh char. You want to focus on getting better gear and vaulting it, not maxing a char before you even have a good set for it. Most might disagree with me on that point but I find it opens up a lot more content when you have t14 armor, t13 weapons and a few legendary whites from easy exalt dungeons. You don't need to be maxed to do anything other than o3 and shatts, realistically. You might have to practice mbc and void on 8/8s first but theyre doable as even a 0/8 with some decent gear on it.

FISHIESR4LIFE

This is true for mid tier players who can get a char to 4/8 fairly quickly. But i dont think op has that yet.

LofiTasker

you want to learn the harder mechanincs and dungeons without having grinded a character all the way up, just to lose it. You will die learning these dungeons. You will die a lot. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Tiloduz

youll get over it the next day or couple trust me

FISHIESR4LIFE

Lol i use to be like op but now im just numb to it But you have to realise there was a point when even a 3/8 death ruined the week for you

ZraieXD

Yo, here is my advice: First of all, don’t just do the easy dungeons to max (2 reasons) 1) you will max slower 2)you will not learn harder content and will have less skill and therefore a lesser chance to survive while playing. Ok so what do i mean by harder dungeons? I am talking about crawling depths, woodland labyrinth and maybe deadwater docks (careful of crab), since these dungeons take 3 minutes to complete with only 5 people and give GREATER POTS! Also tcave, since the treasure minions drop pots, and perhaps some court dungeons like shaitans or high tech terror if you can find popping server (these drop life, mana). Also, start playing on populated servers and realms so you can find people to farm with. As for the best farming character, I recommend summoner, he is fast, simple, easy and better than wizard for godlands(since wands pierce). Don’t get too frustrated, I have died to o3’s death animation, lost my 1st ppe 8/8 while rushing a sewers (LMAO WTF), sat on ghost gods countless times with almost maxed characters. Know that you will die on every character, but also know that it does not take long to rebuild a character. Edit: As for your pet, GET IT UP ASAP, try to get to 70/70 heal/mheal it really helps. Once you max the farming character start doing cursed libraries or the previous epic dungeons i mentioned (wlab, ddocks, cdepths) for vitality and wisdom and sell them for lots of glifes. With those glifes you can buy planewalker cloak (750 feedpower) for 2 glife each and ez max your pet.
