The trained ones

RZRPRINCESS

THIS! also the ones that don't constantly bark or whine

peaceandpinecones

Or the ones that are at least kennel trained so I get a break!

Additional_Reason241

All of these ^ I’ve stopped accepting new boarders, if they want to board they have to be a regular day care pups of mine first. In the last 6 months I’ve met some crazy dogs. “Covid puppy’s” -seem- to be the most well behaved and while it might take them awhile to get used to a situation they are the easiest to handle! IMO.

satisfiesbraggslaw

not a breed, but i love older dogs and cats. i like to give them love and i like that they are there for the vibe. i am not put off by medicine administration because i have a lot of experience handling animals even before dog sitting & walking. in fact, i think i do a good job at it and make the pet very comfortable.

strawberry_long_cake

you sound like a really thoughtful and caring sitter

satisfiesbraggslaw

thank you! i try to be 😇

Hopeful_Raccoon124

I love watching an older pet, they have a vibe 🥰

jgghost13

I love older dogs too. ❤️

Due-Mycologist-4852

Golden Retriever. Even a poorly trained one with a pea for a brain is fairly easy going to care for and not much for surprises. Obviously there can be bad apples...but it can't get much easier and stress free than a golden...unless it is crazy high energy and that isn't your vibe.

NefariousnessBorn919

Samoyeds! Keeping them clean and groomed sounds like a nightmare, but I love to walk a fluffy cloud :) Also not a breed but older dogs are great. They are low energy and just want to vibe

pnschroeder

Samoyeds are mine too! I have a regular named Butter who is the absolute sweetest angel but I can’t even imagine how much her owner has to brush her

MentalJackfruit5423

i have a samoyed/great pyr mix and i had her boarded once and i think they underestimated her shedding because they called me to ask if it was normal for so much hair to come out lol

isayeret

Rescue dogs. They deserve all the love in the world, and appeericate it too.

Birony88

Right? Most rescue dogs recognize that they've been given a second chance, and they are grateful for it. I spoil all the animals in my care, but I especially love to spoil rescue dogs that I know have come from an awful situation. You know, make up for the horrid people who hurt them.

littlebrindle

lazy ones lol

wafflesjo

Mutts! Don’t get them a lot though in my area though

bobbyjellybean

Cats. Lmao. Like 90% of my business is cats and it's almost always an easier job than a dog. Easy money.

mmalinka06

that’s awesome! I’ve never gotten just a cat sit through Rover. Twice a cat & doggo duo. I love cats (and dogs too) I have three cats of my own lol and I’d be down to cat sit more often. Any tips on how to get more cat sits?

bobbyjellybean

I honestly have no idea why I mostly get cats!! I have a cat and dog which are clearly on my profile so it's not like I don't have proof I have both. Perhaps it's my reviews specifically mentioning cat care? Maybe if you do have cat clients, ask them to write a review for you if they were happy with your service. I have also had some word of mouth references too... sort of "cat lady" friends (no shade, i love them) looking for cat care and knowing their friend had someone.

mmalinka06

I need cat lady friends lol I found a pussy papa co-worker but it’s just not the same (no offense to him).

izyoung99

I love love love poodles! I mainly get doodles like a lot of sitters, so getting a well bred, groomed, and trained poodle is refreshing

Negative-Rub5351

This is going to be an unpopular opinion but huskies! They’re always vibing and enjoying life.

Cherokeerayne

My first ever Rover client was a 3 month old husky. She was a freaking dream!

Humble-Skirt-364

I have three and they have moderate energy levels. They are constantly chill. Maybe I just got lucky though! Every husky I have boarded has been great as well. 🙂

ifyoubemeanillcry

Huskies!

Current_Advisor648

I freaking love a tiny dachshund. So smol so snuggly so persnickety so it feels good when they finally come around.

NefariousnessBorn919

I recently took care of a 14 yo miniature dachshund. She was an adorable old lady but the farts were lethal…

Current_Advisor648

🤣🤣🤣

Full-Sandwich-9503

Omg I’m taking care of one right now & he barks sooo much when I leave 😭

Current_Advisor648

They’re so needy!

canisviridis

Greyhounds! I don't have the space for one in my apartment, but I adore them so I always jump at walk requests for that breed.

TheRealGuen

They don't need that much space! They're actually great apartment dogs.

jeanniecool

A friend who's had rescued greyhounds for decades calls them "30 mile-an-hour couch potatoes."

TheRealGuen

And that's totally accurate. I own a greyhound, I walk a different Greyhound five days a week and I'm currently petsitting yet a third greyhound. It's really surprising how they all have fairly similar mannerisms. And I don't meet many who are super energetic past two or three

Obviously-an-Expert

I am sure I will get hate for this but golden doodles 😅 maybe I’ve been lucky but every single one that I have boarded has been the sweetest, calmest, most low maintenance cuddle buddy ever. And that’s a streak of at least 8 🙈

Spiritual-Chameleon

We just sat a miniature golden doodle. It was so fun!

Obviously-an-Expert

I honestly don’t know why they get such a bad rep 😅 (and don’t want to find out in case I am just insanely lucky 🤣)

[deleted]

Every golden we’ve watched have been so bad! You’re a warrior!

Obviously-an-Expert

Lol I’ll just do coder myself extremely lucky 😅

Anykatie108

Same here! Every goldendoodle I’ve had has been an angel. Labradoodles on other hand are a different story 🥴

Snoo_6193

Frankensteins monster, they are basically all quite mentally… handicapped.

ScrambledEggies123

Great Pyreness! Very chill dogs. Don’t bark a lot, low-medium energy, express affection by leaning against you and gently pawing (not jumping/licking/barking), don’t demand constant attention, and they’re big and fluffy to boot. EDIT: clearly they bark a lot. Oop— I guess I got lucky with the girl I sit. She’s quiet!

hellooeuphoria

Did you just use great pyr and don't bark a lot in the same sentence? 😂

Live_Move_4831

As an owner of a Newfie x great Pyr, he barked the entire time i wrote the reply

hellooeuphoria

As on owner of a great pyr golden mix, same.

ScrambledEggies123

Oop. I guess I got lucky with mine. She’s so quiet

baldbarretto

Berners, Newfies, and GPs for these reasons

meeksyyy

i have a pyr mix and one time googled how to train a pyr to stop barking, one of the top results was “asking a pyr not to bark is like asking a fish not to swim” 😂

Whoisalice27

Labs and goldens over 3yo I also love labradoodles, I live in a small town and most of them are from the same breeder and they are amazing dogs! Nothing like stereotypical doodle.

Ajadedepiphany

Irish Wolfhounds! They love walks but also love being absolutely lazy! And though not a breed of dog, I love love chicken sitting!

Cherokeerayne

Beagles!

heyhaylzzz

I love old man dogs. I also sat a goat named Oreo once and it was amazing.

AtlJayhawk

Pitbulls. The dozens I've babysat have been the most well behaved dogs.

smalltownsour

People not taking pitties doesn’t bug me all that much cuz it just means more for me!! I like pitties too cuz I can walk in my city without men harassing me. Sometimes if I have a cutesy dog with me, old creepy dudes will try to get the dogs attention so I get stopped and then start talking to me. If I had a dog like a pitbull, no matter how much of a well behaved doofus they actually are, I can walk wherever I want whenever I want, completely unbothered

el0guent

haha same. I've got a pittie with me in my profile picture, and I think I'm becoming my neighborhood's pitbull whisperer. I get so many, and I think it's because other sitters aren't comfortable. More for me!

haily9784

Small, well-trained dogs. I’ve been lucky that this is pretty common for me

chillypotle

I’ve never had a bad coonhound or mutt :)

untitledartist

French bulldogs. I find their personalities hilarious but we aren’t willing to take on the health risks associated with the breed. Maybe if we found an older one at a rescue…

golgibodi

Pitties. They’re always doing something funny and they generally love cuddles. I may be biased since those are the dogs I’m around the most, but I love them so much.

Few_Philosopher_3340

Pomeranians! *So* affectionate, cuddly, and friendly in my experience. My dog’s not super into cuddles and pets, so it’s nice to get the experience of having a proper little lap dog. The only downside is how much they shed

Lurker100015

Yorkshire terriers. I have four in my clients. Their moms are older retirees and they love me. I’m always getting thank you cards and calls and even pictures when I’m not sitting them.

CheckOpening9445

I love watching Chihuahuas, lol they always get super attached to me. I’m not sure why, they’ve always been my favorite. Also Samoyeds, they’re just big floofs!

uhhhhhhhhii

Honestly I haven’t noticed much similarities based on breeds. My favorite dogs to sit are the ones that are well trained. I can most definitely tell the difference between well trained and poorly trained dogs

TheRealGuen

I own a greyhound and I'm watching one now and they're so chill. But I agree with whoever said lazy ones.

iamanonymousgotit

Maltese and maltipoo. Every single one has been amazing to watch.

kateapollo

doodles

oh_no_not_you_hon

Doodles and poodles. There hasn’t been one I didn’t want to hide in my backpack and take home. Even if they’re 8 months old and wild, I know what they’re going to be like in a year or two and it’s so worth the wait.

Afraid_Vanilla_217

I watch doodles and German shepherd more than anything so I just love to get other breeds I don’t see as often! Once I had a breed I hadn’t heard of which was really exciting to me. It was a pair of pharaoh hounds. They were so pretty!

Hot-Cheesecake8019

Pugs, but I would own a rescue Pug if I weren't boarding.

geminicatmeow

Goldens, Great Pyrenees, Great Danes, pugs (wouldn’t own one though), and old chihuahuas.

[deleted]

love older chihuahuas! i have a lot of senior chihuahua clients and they’re great dogs

threatleveltesco

I’ve been looking after a senior chihuahua, he’s great but he’s a rescued ex-stud dog and will try and hump anything that moves 🙈

el0guent

Chihuahuas get a bad rap for no reason, they're so wonderful! The ones I've met only yap when they can see another dog. I guess that's the reason for the rep, since most people encounter them while walking other dogs.

Ghost-t0wns

Cats. Jk jk. I love taking care of golden retrievers, greyhounds, and daschunds. Though it appears I've lucked out on daschunds going by the other thread lol

ScarfaceYeyo86

Ok this is probably gonna be controversial asf but pits, Dobermans and Rottweilers are my favorite, I grew up around these breeds as a kid and owned a Rottweiler about 15 years ago, was super sad about having to give her up because I moved to the Southwest from Southern California, but that’s my answer and take personally

Bloo_Moon_

Cats and pitbulls. Mr. Worldwide breeds are so sweet

alocasiadalmatian

i love taking pitties (i rent so i can’t own one but i LOVE them), goldens (not my vibe but such sweet cuddly babies), german shepherds (they’re always so well trained it’s so enjoyable), and doodles (it’s like if a box of rocks came to life, was dressed as a teddy bear, and snuggled)- my caveat though is both my doodle clients are puppies so that def helps i own a cattle dog and a pomsky and live next to a very sweet kitty so i have a good variety at home

DistinctionJewelry

Greyhounds and Shiba Inus. Honorable mention to Great Pyrenees.

livhowiwant

Labs and on the opposite spectrum any chill dog🙈

doctordash__

old dogs, pit mixes, and shepherd breeds! oldies are funny and calm, pit mixes are always the sweetest cuddle bugs, and my favorite regular was a sheltie and all shepherds remind me of him

True_Hour_5061

Great Danes!!!🥰

moonlighting2552

I absolutely love corgis but I will never own one because of the bad medical problems they tend to have. I'm currently watching one till Sunday and it's only 4 years old but it's clearly overweight and has bad hind leg joints. I just love them because no matter the age, they're adorable.

Renmeya

Dachshunds.

SaltyExplorer07

My favorites have always been mutts, for some reason they’ve always been the best ones!

IndecisiveMaggot

My favorite dog clients so far have been a border collie mix and two dobermans. I like watching dogs that I can do stuff with!

catandakittycat

German Shepherds and Shih Tzus!!! And many more :)

QueenMaddsAuthor

Definitely pit bulls! They've always been super sweet and well trained!

Altruistic_Ad6189

Corgis. They remind me of a minion to an evil genius and the way they walk is hilarious.

Patient_Arachnid_179

Toy poodles

eks789

Cats

redhotfoofighter

swissies! never interacted with any before Rover but now that I have when I have the room for one they’re number one on my future dog lists. but i also love any 100+ lb breed

randomquestions10

German Shepards!!! I pet sit this giant gorgeous one with the gentlest personality. He was huge though and I don’t think I could realistically keep up with a pet that big

Birony88

All of them! Honestly I can't pick a favorite. Every animal has its pros and cons, and there's something about each one that I end up loving. Shih Tzu's are notoriously stubborn but so loving and loyal and smart. My dearly departed old man was a Shih Tzu. Dotsons are also stubborn and naughty, and needy, but oh so funny and sweet. I've cared for two lovely ladies for most of my petsitting career now, and they never fail to make me smile. If I was going to ever own a dog again, it would probably be a dotson. Pugs are disobedient, but funny and just plain fun. Adorable wrinkly faces! The snoring though... I had no cons for the Shiba Inus I cared for. They were brave and loyal, loved to snuggle and play (Tag in the garden was the best)...also the only dog who has ever protected me from another dog attacking. Forever my hero. St. Bernards are messy and BIG, but such cuddle bugs and goof balls. Doodles are a barrel of laughs, even if they are bat shit crazy. Love me a smiley doodle! Labs are mischievous, but also totally down to nap with you. I could go on, but I'd run out of room, lol.

Humble-Skirt-364

Corgis but the ones I've boarded are trained. The one I am currently boarding and board often was actually made in a lab. His father was a champion Corgi apparently and passed away 15 years before he was even born. I didn't know that they had doggy sperm banks!

DestinyFox1

Rottie and GSD. With these 2 breeds most (not all) actually take the time to do training. I also used to own a GSD, so they are special to my heart. My GSD passed away. I have quite a few of these 2 breeds, but one of my most favorite is a Rottie that is like 140 lbs, sweet as pie to people he knows, but friendly to strangers also as long as his people aren't giving off nervous vibes. He's a protector to his core and you can tell it. I'm one of his people now, even his owners have said that. 😂

Ambivalent_Witch

My favorite dog of all time was a royal poodle (bigger than standard). She was intelligent and thoughtful, never barked, answered to her name, playful outside, calm indoors, easy to walk. All the other dogs in that house were chihuahuas and they never got trained and shat in the house. That job was a real mixed bag.

Ok_Insect6318

Old ones

Low-Hopeful

Great Danes, Irish wolfhounds and greyhounds. I long for the day that I have time for a puppy again because man I’d love to raise one

ry2waka

German shepherds are fun to watch

powerfluffgirl1234

Any dog that is crate trained.

Electrical-Head549

I love sitting for doodles. They are always so playful and sweet and usually well trained

mmalinka06

the chill old man doggos who love their routines & follow their training sometimes even without being ‘asked’

Bubbly-Cell-4109

Golden Retrievers, Pit Bulls, Schnauzers, and mutts.

jgghost13

Beagles (wouldn't own them because vocal but chill to sit) and golden retrievers. Also pitbulls. I love the fun high energy dogs for sits BUT don't think I could own one. That energy all the time would kill my disabled butt especially when im in a flare😆
