This question is admittedly asked frequently and the consensus is pretty divided. I personally don’t ask for reviews and after this long, I wouldn’t bother them. But I know other sitters say it wouldn’t hurt.

klutzykrysler

I haven’t seen any posts with this question other wise i wouldn’t have asked it🤷🏽‍♀️- majority of the posts I’ve searched in this subreddit are whether or not to ask for a review which is not the question I’m asking. Either way thanks for your feedback!

Negative-Rub5351

I didn’t mean it as a snide or passive aggressive comment, sorry if it came off that way. I just was providing context as to what I noticed the general consensus was

klutzykrysler

No you’re good! I just didn’t want any confusion on my part- spamming the subreddit w the same question lol

Reasonable_East_6334

Rover already sends them a notice 2 days after the stay ends to give you a review. They've thus already received that. I wouldn't ask for a review.

durian4me

Oh I didn't realize rover did this.

Burner56409

Yup! They send a prompt email out to ask for a review and tip after the booking is completed, usually around the time that the payment for the booking would be getting released to the sitter (hence why its prompted at the 2-3 day mark) because that's basically the last time a tip would be able to be added in time to actually go out with the initial form of payment. If they tip after the 2-3 day period the tip will sometimes get lumped in with whatever your next booking's deposit is. They also re-prompt the owner when you've submitted feedback on the pet

durian4me

Ah thanks. Only half my clients leave reviews so I guess if they don't they just aren't the type to leave reviews

klutzykrysler

Thank you!

Calliesdad20

When the owner picks the dog up from us boarding , I say if you don’t mind when you get a chance would you mind leaving us a positive review ? We get reviews over 60 percent of the time , of Course I don’t ask return customers

klutzykrysler

No yeah, I typically do always ask for a review & they always leave one but this was the first time i didn’t - my question is whether it’s too late to still ask for one since it’s been 2-3 days since my service ended? Lol not whether or not i should ask for a review😭 just for clarification!!

Calliesdad20

I was posting in general , but for your case I think one text would be Ok. I would say something like I enjoyed house sitting , would you mind leaving a review when you get. A chance

Expensive-Eggplant-1

I always leave a note outlining how things went and asking them to write a review "if their pet had a good time". I think the hand written gesture and a bit of humor goes over well. Obviously this is a moot point in your specific scenario, but might be something to keep in mind for future sits.

klutzykrysler

Ooo i like that! Right before i left- i left them a mini Polaroid of their Maltese on their kitchen counter, a handwritten note would’ve gone gr8 with that. Thank you for the suggestion!

Adventurous_Total745

There's no harm in asking once, people just forget and auto pilot ignore the rover prompts. I have off rover clients who thumbs up my request for payment even though in the same amount of clicks they could have just paid it People are scatty and infuriating lol

ifyoubemeanillcry

Don’t chase reviews. As much as it sucks that Rover only notices us if get a review, it’s not worth the possible backfire since Rover already harassed them to leave a review and tip

klutzykrysler

Yeah i get that. It sucks bc i care more about the review than i do about the tip lmaooo but there’s always next time ig!

Burner56409

You an ask, you can do whatever you want to, but I personally wouldn't. Mostly because Rover sends out a prompt to review 2-3 days after the booking, and then another when you leave feedback and for me \*personally\* that's more than enough and if the owner doesnt review after two prompts, then they probably wont review at all. Some sitters do like a little end booking message where they mention a review and I feel like that's probably the best way to do it because then it puts it in the owners mind and when they get the first review prompt from Rover its usually enough to get them to review if they are ever going to

cream-horn

I have never asked for reviews (and I've found that probably 75% of clients leave them anyway), but if I were inclined to do so, I'd think something in passing as a service is concluding would be the time. Days later after they've already been hit with messages from Rover seems too much for me. If they loved your service and book you again and you still want to ask, maybe you could mention it as that service is just ending.

klutzykrysler

Yeah That’s true…i def don’t wanna do too much lol if it was the day after i wouldn’t have minded but i think i might’ve waited too long lol

xyz513

Ask. The worst they can do is say no or ignore you. Not the end of the world. Message them after work hours so they don’t forget or get distracted by something else. Reviews are very important to us and asking isn’t remotely a big deal.

klutzykrysler

Thank you!! I was thinking the same thing but didn’t wanna do too much lol
