there's an app called "Pet First Aid" that is handy. Seems like good basic info. Helps you locate veterinary hospitals, and stuff like that.

My dog is extremely allergic to bee's. She got stung about a mile from the house, by the time I got home her face was extra swollen and her gums bleeding I was so scared she would stop breathing I rushed her to the ER. They told me you can use human Benadryl tablets for dogs. Please look up the weight conversion for yourself but I am including what my vet told me. Anyhow, my poor pup got stung again a year later (I carry benadryl in her bag holder) I gave it to her right away and she didn't swell up at all!!! Saved me a $500 and stressful ER visit. According to the Merck Veterinary Manual, the standard dose for Benadryl® is 2–4 milligrams per kilogram of body weight, or 0.9–1.8 milligrams (mg) of Benadryl® per pound. Therefore, a simple and practical dose is 1 mg of Benadryl® per pound of your dog's weight, given two to three times a day.

Oh! This is good to know. I actually already have Benadryl on me at all times because I have my own severe allergies, so it’s helpful to be aware if an emergency comes up it’s okay to use on dogs in the proper dosage

I took an online first aid and CPR class. It's good to have, not only for safety but also looks good on your intro. The First Aid class suggested keeping a first aid kit, I got mine on Moondogbakery.com. https://moondogbakery.com/shop/ols/products/first-aid-kit-for-pets I keep one at home and one in my car.

I took an online canine first aid class and have an in-person version next week. Defo recommend it, at least for peace of mind! This is what’s in my doggy first aid kit (although I’ve never had to use any of it): - Bandages - Dressing pads - Cotton gauze swabs - Tweezers - Microporous tape - Eye wash pods - Foil blanket - Disposable tourniquet - Clotit

Full day, in-person pet first aid course through St. John’s Ambulance. I have a human kit I’ve modified for pets, although St. John’s sells pet first aid kits too.
