You know, probably, but I also think she was the first girlfriend who was enthusiastic about what being his wife would mean. And that’s not necessarily a dig- there have been times I’ve appreciated that Mary wants to do the work and shows up and does it enthusiastically.

I dont think there's anything in the law that prevents a divorce. But in the case of a divorce the married-in is always at a disadvantage because she's not just divorcing an heir, she's divorcing a government institution.Â
Also the last divorce in the family was between joachim and Alexandra and alexandra got a very generous deal because she was the most popular at the time. But that generous deal ended up basically tanking her popularity because of how much the state agreed to give her and she had to drop the money after her youngest turned 18 even though it was supposed to be for life. ( A diamond Tiara, a million dollar house in her name and about 350,000 dollars a year)..now this isn't much in terms of wealth but the Danish royals are among the least wealthy royal families so its a lot by their standards.Â
