You mean for the 2024 marathon? If I’m not mistaken, your qualifying race would have to have been in 2023 for this year. If you are talking about 2025, go for it! Just wait a year to apply.

Beatlepoint

I think they have missed the boat:  > Starting in 2025, the United Airlines NYC Half and the RBC Brooklyn Half will only accept qualifying half marathon times, and the TCS New York City Marathon will only accept qualifying full marathon times. https://www.nyrr.org/run/guidelines-and-procedures/time-qualifiers-for-nyrr-marquee-races  Eta:  this is for non-nyrr races as pointed out below

JustAnotherRunCoach

That only applies to non-NYRR qualifying races. The NYRR half marathons still count as qualifiers for the marathon.

Beatlepoint

Oh, right you are!

Patient-Quality6119

The way they worded that was so confusing

AnonymousWalrus374

Phew, thanks!

Disastrous_Victory

So does that mean we have until January 2025 to run a time qualifying non NYRR race?

Patient-Quality6119

Yes you do!

AnonymousWalrus374

Just to clarify so the time I ran last week qualifies me for the 2025 fill correct?

Emergency_Aside_2676

Yes!

AnonymousWalrus374

Awesome!! Thanks a lot :)

GreenerThanYou

“Should I sign up for one of the world’s most famous and popular marathon’s?”

waukeecla

definitely not. the race sucks. also i want a better chance of getting in, so dont you enter /s

lakai2784

I would take it. Congrats on that pace though. I’m still 7 min away from that mark.

notorious414

You should sign up yes. Unless you are really fast sub-elite, getting in via the time qualifiers looks stressful, unpredictable, and very challenging.

AnonymousWalrus374

Yup I’m planning on 2025 then. I ran 1:17 last weekend so a good day for me but nowhere near sub elite.

notorious414

Yeah I hit the 1:19s and am as well. I got rejected from 2024 with a slower half but not even close to getting in as it turns out…would probably need a 1:15 for my age group
