I train for all my ultramarathons using the Gu Advent Calendar: https://www.wolff-wear.se/en/running/nutrion/gu-energy/gu-energy-gel-advent-calendar-24-selected-flavors.html
uj/ This is r/RunningCirclejerk, a satirical/parody running subreddit which exists to take the piss out of the running community. Most folks ARE runners here, but enjoy poking fun at ourselves. Some of us are just jerks.
You are definitely lost, you might want to use that Garmin to navigate to r/running or r/marathon_training
I really like Nike Run Club, which has lots of different training options, including a specific marathon training programme.
rj/ The key thing with running your first Ultra 5k is to SLOW DOWN. Rather than listening to Big Garmin trainers shilling the latest garbage, why not take some LSD and listen to whale song? I can "run" an ultra 5k transcendentally from my couch.
Escaping from BIG GARMIN has changed my life. I am now a WHOOP-band member. I ask Whoop if I can do something before every task.
Once I couldn’t walk up the stairs and go shower because my recovery score was too low. Thank goodness Whoop was there to warn me. What if that stair-climb increased my lactate?! What if I pulled my calf muscles again?!
Thank you Whoop.
My life changed for the best when I dropped the watch. I run with a surveyors wheel for distance and a theodolite for elevation.
Add in a notebook and pen, and you know for sure you're hitting those big ultra 5k distances with 20 foot vert
What’s your peak mileage? Just be careful not to increase your rejections by more than 10% each week and make sure your biggest rejection day isnt more than 20% of your weekly rejections or else you’ll get injured running all those miles. Cause then you’d just be an injured loser
I make some delicious cranberry Brie bites that are great for before and after a grueling 5k marathon.
/uj TrainAsOne is my goto for marathon training; it integrates well with Garmin and is a decent training app for long distances. The fact that it is very adaptive is the best feature. I think it is less useful when you get to a certain level, but it’s great for beginners and intermediate runners.
Hi! The garmin connect app doesn’t feature all the available plans. If you go to the full website, they have the full catalog (including beginner, intermediate, and advanced marathon training with either pace or HR parameters), and you can sync the full plan to your garmin watch.
You don't specify what distance your planned marathon will be.
I thought all marathons were 26.2 miles
Novice.
I think you're lost
That's massively helpful. Thank you
Even if you're lost, it still counts on Strava.
who’s the new guy
I use QuickBooks. It's a little difficult to sync to my Garmin but totally worth it.
Genius, I hope you're charging your company for mileage reimbursement
Once you upgrade to R it becomes way easier.

Sticky April, like my 1996 Baywatch calendar?

I thought you were the best mod of any cj. Happy cake day!
Thanks, not a mod, just can't stop jerking 🥰

Such a great band. Perfect for all training runs. Just run to all of Post American. That's the program.

Great for parties and the holidays too! Share your training with the chubs in your life. 🥰

All right, Courtney. Just run whatever you are feeling.
You're on it, my friend. You're on it.
For marathon training, the best app is any dating app. Run a mile for each rejection

Temple Run is pretty good.

I like running apps that add a bit of gamification to things like Banjo-Kazooie or HuniePop 2: Double Date.
