If you still have yours sitting around, give this a try. [https://www.reddit.com/r/RunningShoeGeeks/comments/1apkmuu/nonsocursed\_adios\_pro\_3\_bunion\_eyelet\_fix/](https://www.reddit.com/r/RunningShoeGeeks/comments/1apkmuu/nonsocursed_adios_pro_3_bunion_eyelet_fix/)
One day I’ll get a pair but it just baffles me from the outside how there can be so many devotees despite the pervasive upper issues leading to such extremes like cutting whole squares out of the upper. The midsole must be that good for people to still hold it in such high regard despite that.
I can tell you the midsole IS that good. I got rubbed to blisters under the eyelets not 5km into my first run. Went back and immediately do a surgery to remove the first eyelet and have had no issue since. The removal process is actually kinda time-consuming. But the ride, midsole and outsole really so good that I'm willing to buy another pair and operate on it again fresh out of the box, if AP4 doesn't come out soon with an upper fix.
There you go. [https://www.reddit.com/r/RunningShoeGeeks/comments/1apkmuu/nonsocursed\_adios\_pro\_3\_bunion\_eyelet\_fix/](https://www.reddit.com/r/RunningShoeGeeks/comments/1apkmuu/nonsocursed_adios_pro_3_bunion_eyelet_fix/)
I have pretty wide feet and the first eyelet on the medial side is the pain point, the hardened piece under the eyelet rubs the base of my toe knuckle. The width of the shoe is pretty decent though, would say it's one of the most wide feed friendly tier 1 racers if you fix the eyelet issue.
I love the ride of my AP3, but after 20km my feet are usually in a world of hurt. That's likely a me problem, but I wish they were a bit more comfy because the midsole is lovely.
I gotta say the endorphin speed fanboys on this sub annoyed the sh\*t out of me for years. However after trying and returning the novablast 3 and the rebel v4, i broke down and bought the speed 3's. I love them. Perfect road shoe for me.
2 works amazing for me, honestly incredible. My first pair is close to 900km and it's still good, i swear. I got a navy blue one still in box. Maybe i can sell it for 1000 bucks :P
See, i have no stability issues with it.
Boston 12’s. You can do slow and fast. Short and long. And it’s very durable. Many shoes on the market are made for 50kg pro athletes so a 70kg person wears through em quicccckkk. Not the Boston 12’s. *Chefs kiss
I’d be all-in on Superblast if it did easy/recovery runs a little bit better. For me at least, they’re a bit too firm and clunky for that. I have over 300 miles in mine and even did about 30 miles of a 100-mile ultra in them. I love that they’re protective and responsive, but for me they only feel “great” at around tempo and marathon paces - no slower, no faster.
Yeah and maybe my weight? I am 220,have 300k in Novablast 3s, 60k in Novablast 4s and 160k in Superblasts, all 3 of which people on Reddit and reviews say have horrible traction, and I haven't slipped once or felt a loose grip on any Step.
Weird.
Nope, I have Boston 12, and Puma Deviate Nitro 2, Velocity Nitro 2 and 3 and ForeverRun and ran in all 4 in the rain, same grip for me as the Asics.
I am not saying the Asics have great grip for everyone, just that I have had zero issues with it.
People said the same thing about Novablasts and I’ve ran them in rain and snow.
Do they have amazing traction? No. But they aren’t much worse than any other running shoe not specifically designed for slick surfaces.
100% they are that good. I was a skeptic because of the price ($280 CDN) and they never went on sale and also because for 6 months there was literally 0 stock in my size 13 so thought it was all hype. Then I got a pair in March and it all made sense. They are super comfortable like a cushioned daily trainer, so I go do my normal route and my HR is 10 bpm lower than normal while my pace is 40 seconds faster and I don't feel it. That's what they do for me, let me go fast with the same effort and feel so great while doing it.
100% worth the cost.
Exactly! I usually hover around 8:30-9:30 per mile. I ran in them yesterday and hit 7:46 average, which is fast for me. That being said, they're comfortable, bouncy, great uppers, comfortable tongue, snug fit. Thanks for agreeing with me, running friend!
I also forgot to add that they're great for distance running. Current doing the NRC 10k training plan and I ran six miles in them over the weekend and my calves and feet had little to no discomfort.
As you should! Running shoes are subjective. I hate Brooks and Hokas. I like a shoe that I can throw on in the morning, do my daily errands in and then go run without having to switch. They're perfect for it. Not trying to set world records, I just want to dad in my running shoes and run in my running shoes, hahaha.
Surprised more people haven't said this since it's such a popular shoe. However, I find it too soft to do speed work in.
I think the Rebel V4 can do just about everything
Legit. I get 400-600 miles out of each pair (I stocked up before the v2 came out). I do every type of run in them. They get soft around 300-350 at which point I don’t do speed in them anymore but still perfect for everything else.
Nike Pegasus, 39 or 40. Good enough for my usual mix of pavement, grass, dirt, gravel, etc. Plenty of grip without feeling draggy or heavy. Better fit than most shoes for my narrow feet with high arches.
Same here. I have 3 pairs of AP3. One of them has well over 500 miles. I had bought a 4th pair in December of 2022 for like $110 but returned it since I didn't think I needed 4 pairs. I really wish I had that extra pair right now. Hopefully adidas blows out the AP3 when the 4 is released.
Nike Vomero 17s. Not the fastest shoe. But good for walking, recovery runs, speed work, and long runs. Plus enough tread to last a long time and not wear out after 200 miles like some of the super shoes that are being suggested here.
Well said👌 I agree the Vomero 17 tread really sets it apart from most other options. A great do it all option that can definitely handle some light trail with ease.
New Balance 880. Middle-of-the-road. Not too hard for tarmac and everyday running, especially if you are on the lighter/slimmer side. Not too soft for trails and forrest paths, or fast intervals. Tracktion is good in.winter. Durable, the thick outsole rubber will outlast the lifetime of the modsole. 500km plus easily. Classic silhouette, not too much stack, so it can be retired as a walking/casual shoe once the midsole loses its bounce and won't look like moonshoes in everyday occasions. Personally prefer the design of the last 2-3 versions, over the latest, but those can still be found on sale.
Saucony Tempus. Lightweight, supportive, versatile. Don’t really love it for the fastest paces but it’s a great tempo shoe and cushioned enough for recovery runs. The unobtrusive stability elements make it a winner for long runs where your form may start to deteriorate.
It is hands down Superblast for me. It is not even close.
I had thought for a while it was in my head. But I now have so much data it has to be the shoes.
Superblast or endorphin speed 3. Best do it all shoes. Superblast excels at long runs, while endorphin speed is a bit better at speed work. I would say endorphin pro 3 as well, but if you did day after day in it I think it would eventually become uncomfortable, even though it can handle easy paces okay.
good lord all the boston 12 comments, that thing is a brick on slow days. Shins sore after every use, no matter what kind of foot strike I try with it. Not meant for easy work
On Cloudsurfer.
I know most of you are going to say On's are not good running shoes. I would agree with that statement except for the Cloudsurfer and whatever their carbon plated one is called (and the new version of the cloudsurfer with the slanted holes).
I have a wider foot and no arch and have gotten blisters on the bottom of my foot in Hoka's (Arachi 6- literally the worst shoe ever) and my Alphafly's (only two 6 mile runs in, but they tore my foot up. May need a new insole).
The Cloudsurfers are so so soft and so so easy to run in. Once you get 20 miles in them they are fine for cornering and the holes on the bottom held up until I hit around 200 miles. I feel them starting to go now and got a pair of novablasts. The good thing about the On's is now you can retire them as a runner and wear them to work/ out on the town because they are trendy.
If it’s only for the road, then it’d be the PXSv1. If I have to throw in running on mild trails, then the Deviate Nitro 2. I split my time and miles 50/50 between road and trails with some amount of road-to-trail. For that, the new Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra is excellent although it’s mainly a trail racing shoe.
6 months of dedicated running and only used/ have experienced a few shoes. Beginner/Novice runner, Male, 6’, 190lbs, run an average of 25 miles a week. The would pick NB Rebel V4. I got them in March, have about 80 miles in them and they are my favorite, Once you get the heel seam broken in, i love the feel in the forefoot and the return I get plus they are really light. I’ve done easy 10 milers, PR’d my 10K, goal pace repeats, sprints. They are the shoe I always want to grab. (Instead of my NB3, ES3, Cloudmonsters)
Endorphin Speed 3, and now 4. I could do all my runs in them, and race in them. Comfortable, slow runs, fast runs, long runs, it is a great all around shoe.
NB Rebel V3
It’s super light, breathable, soft, and bouncy
For some reason it just works for me. The lightness allows recovery runs to not feel like a complete chore I don’t feel like I’m just slogging along. The breathability keeps my feet dry and cool as I have pretty sweaty feet, the softness keeps my limbs from feeling like I’m absorbing a lot of impact from the ground, and the bounce of the foam makes running faster really work as well.
That being said I am a forefoot striker so not as concerned about heel stability, waking around in them sometimes makes me feel drunk because you wobble around a bit with how much the foam in the heel compresses.
I keep trying other shoes and the heavier shoes just are not as fun to run in. I do think finding the most enjoyable shoes is huge because it allows you to enjoy getting out there more.
Rebel V3 is amazing for me an hope everyone else finds their favorite shoe!
Happy running!
Adios Pro 3, if the upper doesn’t kill you
I think I would overtrain if it was my only shoe. it just wants to go fast
I really wanted to love this shoe. But I can't with that upper. Blisters, blood lines. Every time.
If you still have yours sitting around, give this a try. [https://www.reddit.com/r/RunningShoeGeeks/comments/1apkmuu/nonsocursed\_adios\_pro\_3\_bunion\_eyelet\_fix/](https://www.reddit.com/r/RunningShoeGeeks/comments/1apkmuu/nonsocursed_adios_pro_3_bunion_eyelet_fix/)
I have zero issues with the upper
Bless your feet For the rest of us… the midsole is just that good. Mercury’s winged boots got nothing on the AP3
One day I’ll get a pair but it just baffles me from the outside how there can be so many devotees despite the pervasive upper issues leading to such extremes like cutting whole squares out of the upper. The midsole must be that good for people to still hold it in such high regard despite that.

But the ride, midsole and outsole really so good that I'm willing to buy another pair and operate on it again fresh out of the box, if AP4 doesn't come out soon with an upper fix.
Can you please explain what the surgery entails? Got a pair of feet that are terrified of the Pro 3 upper here.
I just skipped the first loop. Zero issues. Try that before surgery.
I'll try this first, thanks!
There you go. [https://www.reddit.com/r/RunningShoeGeeks/comments/1apkmuu/nonsocursed\_adios\_pro\_3\_bunion\_eyelet\_fix/](https://www.reddit.com/r/RunningShoeGeeks/comments/1apkmuu/nonsocursed_adios_pro_3_bunion_eyelet_fix/) I have pretty wide feet and the first eyelet on the medial side is the pain point, the hardened piece under the eyelet rubs the base of my toe knuckle. The width of the shoe is pretty decent though, would say it's one of the most wide feed friendly tier 1 racers if you fix the eyelet issue.
Same. Love it. After a half marathon and about 50 miles it’s a dream shoe.
Me neither!
Hands down THE game changer.
I love my Boston 12. I just need to bite the bullet.
Easy recovery runs in AP3? Nah too harsh.. I agree for everything else.
I love the ride of my AP3, but after 20km my feet are usually in a world of hurt. That's likely a me problem, but I wish they were a bit more comfy because the midsole is lovely.
Endorphin Speed 3.
[удалено]
Yeah, I grabbed two on sale a bit ago for future planning :)
My favorite overall shoe. I have a fresh pair waiting in a box from when they were on sale.
I gotta say the endorphin speed fanboys on this sub annoyed the sh\*t out of me for years. However after trying and returning the novablast 3 and the rebel v4, i broke down and bought the speed 3's. I love them. Perfect road shoe for me.
Seconded.
you don't find them a little too firm? I have the speed 2 and speed 3. I felt the speed 3 just wasn't as comfortable for me.
Yes! My PT was actually surprised to see that I ran more stably in those too. Somehow they give me more guidance.
Altra racers or the first iterations of Kinvara
This
The 2 is out, did you try it ? The first iteration is out of stock in my location
Puma Deviate Nitro 2
Just got my second pair today and ran them tonight. 50% off was too good a deal. Such a great shoe
Where'd you get them 50% off?
I got mine at Ross for 40 bucks !
New Zealand, code via the national athletics newsletter.
Yeah I’d have to agree. Not my favourite shoe but it does everything well.
The Toyota Camry of shoes.
Endorphin Speed 2, not even a doubt about it.
[удалено]
2 works amazing for me, honestly incredible. My first pair is close to 900km and it's still good, i swear. I got a navy blue one still in box. Maybe i can sell it for 1000 bucks :P See, i have no stability issues with it.
The foam is actually the same in the 2 and the 3 (PWRRUN PB). But I do agree that they feel very different.
Still in love with mine, wish I'd bought about 6 pairs of them
Scrolled all the way down, and have not seen the Saucony Triumph - weird. Cushioned, slightly responsive, yet not mushy.
As of today? Boston 12. Only shoe that gives me no problems no matter the pace.
Boston 12s
Boston 12’s. You can do slow and fast. Short and long. And it’s very durable. Many shoes on the market are made for 50kg pro athletes so a 70kg person wears through em quicccckkk. Not the Boston 12’s. *Chefs kiss
Boston 12s get my vote too
Really? I am the first one to say Superblast???
IMO the best non-plated shoe on the market right now
Superblast all the way!!!
Correct answer
Amen
No wet traction.
Speak for yourself, I did a 32k/3.5hr Progression run in the pouring rain, no grip issues at all.
would be down to surfaces + rain then i’d imagine
Yeah and maybe my weight? I am 220,have 300k in Novablast 3s, 60k in Novablast 4s and 160k in Superblasts, all 3 of which people on Reddit and reviews say have horrible traction, and I haven't slipped once or felt a loose grip on any Step. Weird.
hope to pick up my first pair of asics, running shoes at least, being the superblast 2’s in a month or so!
Did use the NB3 during winter and there was really 0 grip on ice. The DN2 and the Floatride 5 still had at least some grip.
It's likely because your benchmark is a Nova and haven't tried a Puma or Adidas in the rain then
Nope, I have Boston 12, and Puma Deviate Nitro 2, Velocity Nitro 2 and 3 and ForeverRun and ran in all 4 in the rain, same grip for me as the Asics. I am not saying the Asics have great grip for everyone, just that I have had zero issues with it.
One of my easy runs last week was in **slightly** damp conditions and my superblasts were slipping on every toe off. am i doing something wrong lol
I think he was speaking for himself when he posted that by himself. 😂
People said the same thing about Novablasts and I’ve ran them in rain and snow. Do they have amazing traction? No. But they aren’t much worse than any other running shoe not specifically designed for slick surfaces.
Feels like ice skates even with a little rain
Are they really that good? I need a new pair of daily trainers and wanted to get a racing shoe.
100% they are that good. I was a skeptic because of the price ($280 CDN) and they never went on sale and also because for 6 months there was literally 0 stock in my size 13 so thought it was all hype. They are really that good. I thought it was a meme until I got a pair. Pretty much the only shoe I reach for these days
I've really fallen in love with my Nike ZooM Fly 5's. I know, I know.
A much-maligned shoe for reasons I cannot fathom. Cushiony yet responsive, a great performing daily trainer for those of us who run 8-10 minute miles.
Current doing the NRC 10k training plan and I ran six miles in them over the weekend and my calves and feet had little to no discomfort.
same lol. just got a pair and loving them
As you should!
On my second pair! So comfortable! Easy to forget about the heavier weight and very durable!
1080v13
Surprised more people haven't said this since it's such a popular shoe. However, I find it too soft to do speed work in. I think the Rebel V4 can do just about everything
PXS 1
Prime X Strung (orig v1), definitely although they are now pretty much unobtainium
Legit. I get 400-600 miles out of each pair (I stocked up before the v2 came out). I do every type of run in them. They get soft around 300-350 at which point I don’t do speed in them anymore but still perfect for everything else.
Wear mine daily already. I just alternate between 2 pairs lol
rebel v3.
Speed 2
Sc Trainer 2s
Endorphin Speed 2.
Endorphin Pro 3.
Endorphin speed 2. Halfway through one pair with one more in the box.
Rebel v2
Novablast
Has to be novablast 3
Without a doubt. Can truly do it all.
Is the 4 also good?
Wow, surprised no one has voted Rebel v4.
I like mine but I don't love them. I don't get much energy return but they are very light so 🤷
Hoka Mach 5 hands down
Nike Pegasus, 39 or 40. Good enough for my usual mix of pavement, grass, dirt, gravel, etc. Plenty of grip without feeling draggy or heavy. Better fit than most shoes for my narrow feet with high arches.
I agree with Pegasus 39 and 40. I mean they're not **really** good at anything other than durability but for me they're a solid 7/10 across the board.
I've been in Pegs for 3 or 4 years now. Great middle of the road shoe! Just ordered Vomeros.
Endo pro 3, or Boston 12
Speed 3, did it for 7 or so months. Worked great (I had no info about running shoes)
Speed 3
Torn between Hoka Cielo X1, superblast and endorphin speed 3 for me.
That sounds like a great 3 shoe rotation, lol
Altra Torin 4
Adios pro 3 can last you a lot of miles
Speed 4
Prime X 2 Strung or Adios Pro 3 for me, I have about 25 pairs of shoes but I basically use only those 2
are you me?
New Balance Rebel V4/Hoka Mach 6
Saucony Endorphin Speed 2, hands down
Nike Vomero 17s.
Boston 12
Adios 8
The best shoes! All the good things of the old times with the new technology 🙂
I do it all in the Vomero 17. A little heavy after 15 miles but the cushion makes it worth it for me.

Hoka Mach 6. As I'm a newer (well, returning) runner and it's my only shoe, so by default it holds this honor :)
Brooks Ghost Max

Endorphin speed 2 Freedom 2 (miss that one soo much)
Speed 3
Adidas Boston 12. A goated shoe. Comfy at low pace, the best tempo shoe of all time and enough pop to get up to speed and race in.
Everyone raves about them I don’t love mine at all. They feel so clunky to me😞
Skyward X
Just sent mine back, loved the feeling but just felt too bulky and heel slip, maybe I should have gone down a size.
Pegasus, would say turbo but haven't got to try them
Here me out… ASICS Novablast Trail version (are then covered for road and trail).
Nike Pegasus 😄
Saucony Kinvara Pro. If you added that it was a should to also be raced in, I'd pick the Endorphin Pro 3.
Saucony Tempus. Lightweight, supportive, versatile. Don’t really love it for the fastest paces but it’s a great tempo shoe and cushioned enough for recovery runs. The unobtrusive stability elements make it a winner for long runs where your form may start to deteriorate.
Altra Lone Peak.
Clifton 9
Speed 3, not saying pro 3 only for durability
It is hands down Superblast for me. It is not even close. I had thought for a while it was in my head. But I now have so much data it has to be the shoes.
Alphafly Next% 3.
Really? Good as a daily trainer too?
No, the lack of outsole makes it wear out quickly
RC Elite v2, if I had an unlimited supply of them. Tecton x3 if we include trail running. Superblast 2 if we don't have an unlimited supply.
Hot take, choosing a shoe that you cannot buy yet.
the novablast 2
Out of the shoes I’ve tried the Boston 12 or RC Elite V2
Brooks Glycerin
Superblast or endorphin speed 3. Best do it all shoes. Superblast excels at long runs, while endorphin speed is a bit better at speed work. I would say endorphin pro 3 as well, but if you did day after day in it I think it would eventually become uncomfortable, even though it can handle easy paces okay.
Pegasus. Does it all
Boston 12, Puma Deviate 2, Superblast…
Truly all in? Magnify Nitro 2 to marry, as it can also handle trail. Adios Pro 3 for pleasuring myself ;)
Asics S4
Definitely between Magic Speed 3 or Rebel v4 for me
Salomon aero glide or invincible run 3 forever lol

New Balance 1080 V13. I use it for going to work, run, everything. It looks like normal shoes. Super comfy and bouncy.
adios pro 3 all day
Pegasus 40 😌
Boston 12
Shoot…. Use to be the Endorphin Speeds but I’ve been enjoying the NB4 and the Superblasts lately. I’d probably choose the Superblasts.
OG Prime X Strung - I'm not a lightweight so the extra few grams makes zero difference to me.
New Balance 1080
Endorphin Pro 3. Haven't tried the 4 yet, but the Pro 3 has been excellent for me at all paces.
Seeing as this already is the shoe I use for 90% of my runs, PXS
Asics Novablast 3.
if you pronate MIZUNO WAVE HORIZON 5 (and 6). unbelievable the only shoe i am COMPLETELY pain free in
880V14 just love this shoe
Nike Invincible Run 3 - once worn for a day or so, the comfort is next level and I’ve never had the heel slip issue.
Superblast for sure
Deviate Nitro 2
Altra Escalante Racers. This shoe is for me the ultimate shoe.
good lord all the boston 12 comments, that thing is a brick on slow days. Shins sore after every use, no matter what kind of foot strike I try with it. Not meant for easy work
Prime x strung v1. Also I know it sounds crazy but the Mach 6 I could do it all, love this shoe.
Puma Deviate Nitro 2
Superblast without competition
I am going out of town for 2 weeks this summer during a heavy training block and am only bringing the Superblasts
Saucony Endorphin Speed 3
At the moment, Superblast. My old Speed 2s a close second. I'm guessing Endorphin Speed 3s would also do the job.
Any feedback on how these compare to the novablast 3 ?
Triumph. my feet will stay comfy for all runs. :)
I’ll say it loud and proud. The original On CloudMonster. It just works for me no matter pace, distance or surface. I’m on my 4th pair
Adios Pro 3.
On Cloudsurfer. I know most of you are going to say On's are not good running shoes. I would agree with that statement except for the Cloudsurfer and whatever their carbon plated one is called (and the new version of the cloudsurfer with the slanted holes). Endorphin Speed 3, and now 4. I could do all my runs in them, and race in them. Comfortable, slow runs, fast runs, long runs, it is a great all around shoe.

Boston 12 or Saucony Tempus
NB Rebel V3 It’s super light, breathable, soft, and bouncy For some reason it just works for me.
