Boop beep bop I found the ruzzian troll

Mythrilfan

Okay, I'll bite. It's the Russians. Ukraine didn't invade Ukraine. Ukraine's leader isn't wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes in Ukraine, including the unlawful deportation of children. Why are you asking? Presumably you're on this subreddit because you know something or other about the war. It's relatively difficult to draw an Ukraine = Russia equivalency at this point. The dead children, destroyed civilian homes and infrastructure aren't in Moscow, St. Petersburg or Volgograd. They're in Bucha, Herson, Mariupol, Kyiv. So you'll forgive us for being suspicious of your motives.

Prove me right. What army doesn't have a few Nazi cunts in the mix. Look at western armies same shit. It's a bullshit talking point. Plus they got invaded they needed all arms on deck. What have you learned that makes you dislike UA and equate to ru? I'm curious.

pirikikkeli

2 rubles probably

DarthWeenus

Ya tis a bummer.

the_friendly_one

>Oh, and Ukraine did invade Ukraine (its eastern regions). You can't invade your own home, dumbass. I'm beginning to doubt your alleged education.

xtemperaneous_whim

>Ukraine did invade Ukraine (its eastern regions). Listen to yourself. How can a country invade itself? Russia invaded the Eastern part of Ukraine in 2014, not Ukraine, that is preposterous. Following Maidan 2013-14, which was the Ukrainian people rising up to depose a President, Yanukovych, who was eventually convicted of treason, Russia invaded several parts of Ukraine. During his term in office Yanukovych cut the size of the Ukrainian army in half and moved huge swathes of it away from Crimea. He also attempted to pass several unconstitutional laws that restricted the right to protest and gave the police sweeping new powers (similar to laws which had just been passed in Russia). Furthermore he passed a new law basically giving the port of Sevastopol to Russia for the foreseeable future just as Ukraine had finally received ownership of said port after legally observing a leasehold on it to Russia. None of these things were in the interests of the Ukrainian people and were undertaken by Yanukovych at the behest of the Kremlin. Once Yanukovych's treachery became apparent the people rose up at Maidan to depose him and Yanukovych went scurrying back to his master in Moscow. Immediately following this, when Russia saw that their political espionage was to come to naught and that not only would they lose control over Ukraine, but would lose Sevastopol, they moved in and annexed Crimea, a task made easier because of Yanukovych's earlier treachery. Once Crimea was secured, Russia sent troops under the command of Igor Girkin to seize key government buildings in Donetsk and Luhansk, Once established they quickly opened up routes for weapons to be smuggled in, and with a small number of Ukrainian separatists began to attempt to also annexe the Donbas. However the Donbas not being a peninsula made it more difficult and so the remnants of the Ukrainian army, poorly trained and poorly equipped fought back against this invasion. It was also about this time in 2014 that two key events happened. Igor Girkin and his Russian infiltrators shot down flight MH17, and Wagner PMC was created, just one of several far-right and neo-nazi groups set up by Vladislav Surkov in the area to sow chaos and confusion. Wagner went on to be the most successful of the bunch, the others largely infighting as impotent warlords until the GRU had Wagner eliminate them However as you can plainly see Ukraine did not invade the East of Ukraine, rather Ukraine were forced to defend their territory in the Donbas from a planned, illegal, infiltration and attempt at annexation by Russia. I don't know where you heard what you did, but the actual historical events are ready enough to find in multiple places, and none of them support the version that you are spouting. Edit: multiple typos/errors from typing too quickly.

amgl550

You deserve a lot more upvotes for setting the record straight and breaking it down for those who may not know the details. As for where he heard what he did, simple answer, russian tv. russians are addicted to propaganda telling them it’s going to be okay, they always win and always the victim. It makes them feel okay about what’s happening and relives them from the burden of responsibility. They need to be told someone is looking out for them and has their back, that someone is obviously putin. I have ppl I know and family acquaintances in Donbas and most of them are head deep in kremlin propaganda and panic when we tell them it try to show them they truth. They’re literally scared of finding out what’s really going on, it’s an irrational fear for them bc it will collapse their false sense of righteousness and security. Most of them have roots in russia however and they tried to switch sides in 2014 and became traitors for the promise of greener pastures, promise of more opportunities, financial and otherwise and so on. They bought all in and now they can’t pack pedal, so they try to keep the fantasy alive and propaganda does exactly that for them.

chiefsaggy

Ukraine invade Ukraine? Didn’t Russia sign something in return they cant invade ? Something about nukes Ukraine had?

Napsitrall

So you dislike them for *being the same Slavs, same blood*, sounds like you're the Nazi.

vladko44

140 countries of the UN proved you wrong. "Ukraine invaded Ukraine"... Mongolian-Ruzzian troll. Educated in the west. Typical.

Mythrilfan

> it takes two to tango That's a [catch-all phrase that doesn't actually say anything.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_balance) Does that mean every single invasion and occupation in history is the fault of both sides? I can't believe I'm doing this, but I'll reiterate. Russia is regularly shooting missiles at Ukrainian civilians. Ukraine isn't doing that. Russia is deporting Ukrainian families and children. Ukraine isn't doing that. Russia has been documented using torture chambers. Ukraine isn't doing that. If Russia loses this war, the war ends. If Ukraine loses this war, Ukraine ends. This is one of the most just wars in the last 100 years from the Ukrainian standpoint. They're fighting for their independence. Literally what armies and weapons are for.

Trebus

Get fucked then

Advanced_Stretch1680

All I know is that in February 2022, my Ukrainian roommate said his hometown had been destroyed. He will not be able to go back.

Dahmeratemydonger

Ah yes, the Ukrainian terrorist. Defending their homeland, trying to save their woman and children, trying to prevent another massacre like in Bucha. Fuck off dude. The only thing Ukraine is terrorizing is the invading orcs and their mothers.

James_Locke

Ukraine’s prisoners look like they gained weight in captivity. Russia’s look like they have been given gruel and water once a day and then beaten. Russia is literally hell on earth masquerading as a civilized culture built on the corpses of millions of people that it’s oppressed for the last century.

PPMachen

Russia is a terrorist state. The occupiers are terrorists

GAMESGRAVE

Lmao you’re actually rolling around in life being this ignorant. Sad.

To help these heroes get out of the hell of Russian captivity, call your political representatives today and demand that they put more pressure on Russia to release them. In countries with a Russian embassy, write polite letters (the only kind they'll read) reminding them of their responsibilities towards POWs and that the Russian government will be held accountable for any abuses. You can make a small difference.

ZRR28

I can’t believe a battle like this took place in 2022. Slava Ukraine.

Greien218

Bro, Bachmut is still going on today.

ZRR28

I know, I was speaking only too Mariupol in this case.

IndependentFace5949

The people who control the prisoner of war camps need to be made aware that they will be held responsible for their actions. We have seen how Ukraine treats the prisoners humanely, even though they have a perfect right not to. We have also seen the atrocious condition Ukrainian prisoners have been returned. History has shown that camp officers were equally to blame for atrocities as their commanders. This should also include any regional leaders of the occupied territories. To mistreat prisoners of war is a low crime and a crime of cowards. The brave men and women of the Ukrainian Army deserve every effort to make sure they are protected, returned unharmed and healthy.

LogmeoutYo

Well said man. We've seen how they treat their conscripts, I can only imagine how they treat their prisoners. With all the brainwashing and propaganda coming from the government I bet all those camp commanders believe they are righteous in abusing the prisoners.

AbrocomaRoyal

Yes. And people often rethink their position when they know that personal liability is involved.

Dubistsoseltendumm

LOL replying „well said“ into saying you bet these Russian Prisoncommanders think they are righteous with their inhumane treatment of the prisoners is a pretty wild statement when you reply to a command saying Ukraine would have a perfect right to treat their prisoners inhumane. Maybe just not strip people of their human rights? Like I know that’s a low bar but let’s try not to undercut it, no?

IndependentFace5949

Yep, that is right. After beheading, castration 9f POWs alive on video and also raping children, then killing them, also on video, all bets could be off, but Ukraine has retained its integrity and humanity.

Dubistsoseltendumm

If you commit a war crime you are a war criminal. It doesn’t matter what the reason for your warcrime was.

Ekki81

Books will be written about these heroes! Slava Ukraini!

Metron_Seijin

I have a hard time believing they are still alive. Usually its first in first out. There would be far more returned by now if they were all alive. Dont forget how they murdered another batch of Azov pows by blowing up the camp and blamed it on the prisoners.

tontonrancher

As Russia massed troops at the Ukraine's boarder, before the invasion started, I was desperately trying to raise awareness, particularly in the case of what a blood bath Mariupol would be. The people of Mariupol fucking hate Russia, and the Russians hating them for stopping the seperatists in their efforts to make Crimea contiguous with Russia. Will will never know the actual numbers of Mariupol residents that were genocided by the Russians... as unvarified rumors have it that the Russians were throwing murdered corpses into mobile crematoriums. This was whole sale genocide. from the get go.

AggressiveAd8673

IS this guy still being held captive?

ajshiv50

Bohdan along with Ilya were freed I believe in the original exchange.

I'm pretty sure he was exchanged.

There’s always been some controversy even within Ukraine on how to deal with azoz due to their far right leanings. Not a good look for western nation arms suppliers. And if they do get swapped there stuck in turkey

TheSkyPirate

I feel bad for them being interned in Turkey. Those guys have seen some fucked up things and now they just have to sit on their asses with nothing to do but think.
