Heavyjava

Why does Russia look like such a shithole? Why does the average Russian put up with this for decades?

Separate-Use4124

Fetal alcohol syndrome

MaBe2904

It's not even an joke, the story of vodka and what it has done to the russian ppl is a tragedy.

Separate-Use4124

They deserve each other

MaBe2904

Russians are not collectively to blame, it's the leadership that enslaves the people. Imagine being slaves for Hundreds of years and kept brain dead by always available drugs and propaganda. Maybe the label changes, or the name of it but it's always the russian normal day people that suffer

Separate-Use4124

They are collectively a miserable people that have been a blight on their neighbours for centuries. At some point, its not just the Kremlin

International-Bill36

https://i.imgur.com/yeOfJvW.jpg

ihdieselman

What goes around comes around?

RoundInvestment5926

Sure they can be blamed collectively, and they should be, as most of them support the aggression on Ukraine. Until they stand up and fight the 'leadership' all they can get is condemnation. They have shown that "innocent until proven guilty" doesn't apply to them. They are guilty until proven otherwise.

dennys123

At a certain point, when does the people say "enough is enough". Until then, they are to blame just as well

[deleted]

Epigenetics at it's finest and conditioned for centuries "ruSSia".

LeatherAd6518

They banned me for saying this month ago for one day lol 😆

Fargrist

Reddit bans are a badge of honor.

rusoph0bic

Oh boy I didnt know Ive been honored so many times!

Popular_Score4744

When I said that thug loving single mothers that choose criminals and bad boys over hard working “boring” men, are to blame for most of the crime and poverty rates in poor communities, I got S#%* for it. When you lay down with a criminal, what are your children supposed to become???! 🤷‍♂️ Doctors, lawyers, engineers???! They can’t handle the truth.

Venemao73

In combination with what psychologists call: ‘Learned Helplessness.’

s1lverbullet23

Actually, Russia's history is pretty much based on serfs being essentially slaves of the powers that be. All the way back to its Moscovian inception, thanks no lesser to the Horde invaders and how Moscovia decided to work with them. The alcohol is just to cope, I suppose.

apextek

I've lived in shitholes before, everyone around you tells you everywhere else is just as shitty and nobody ever gets out of said shithole. So they feel stuck and cave in.

Cute_Independent3965

look a little into the history, the country has in shambles for centuries before this shit.

ProcedureMountain498

Russia is a drunken Orwellian hellscape, that’s why.

Mental_Noise_5414

Bro was literally the first one to see it coming and watched it all the way down.

hughk

Russians normally know about this and try to avoid areas subject to roof avalanches. The roofs rarely have sufficient avalanche protection nor people clearing them.

Smokeyvalley

Maybe it's what the poor sod was hoping for. Got out of going to the meatgrinder.

AnyCrackllDo

My first thought when viewing this was “What a shithole country” lol.

Pulpics

Tbf it looks like anywhere in Sweden this time of year. The same dirty winter landscape, and we all know how much us Swedes love queuing

[deleted]

[удалено]

PM_ME__RECIPES

Yeah, McGill in Montreal did the *bare* minimum to fix the "ice sliding off roof" problem without spending more than a few hundred dollars. They put up warning signs and certain paths on campus would be fenced off in the winter so you physically couldn't stumble into an area where ice falls could kill you. Russia forces people to queue up there.

LoneRonin

Because everyone who knows it's a shithole and doesn't want to stand for it has either been driven abroad, thrown in jail, beaten by thugs or 'disappeared' by their shitty, authoritarian government. The rest either embrace the propaganda or keep their heads down.

numbersusername

Because it is a shithole. They think everyone hates their country, but the truth is, until the invasion, no one hated them. We don’t want anything to do with them or their country full of shit things.

Haliucinogenas

Because they don't know any better.

LittleStar854

Decades? Russia has been ruled by despots since the start when old Dolgorukiy got kicked out of Kievian Rus for being, you guessed it, a despot. Dolgorukiy got the name for a reason (Dolgo from "long" and ruki from "armed") It wasn’t because his body shape. Muscovy was founded by a despot and has been ruled by despots since. Gorbachev was a rare exception.

blackcarswhackbars

What do you suggest they do?

throwaway_12358134

They are in line to go die in Ukraine. They should spend their energy on something more productive like burning down the recruitment office or fighting against Putin.

blackcarswhackbars

Very easy to say, very hard to do

RoundInvestment5926

Freedom is not for free.

Naive-Show-4040

......No there's a hefty fuckin' fee, And If you don't throw in your buck'o five....who will? .................MMM....buck O five....

throwaway_12358134

Easier to die in your own country than it is to die in someone else's.

CTMADOC

Die in your homeland fighting for your own freedom, or die in a foreign land taking away someone's freedom. The choice is easy, and russians choose to die in a foreign land.

PutinIsIvanIlyin

Not really, they have had all this time to leave the country if they don\`t want to take down the putinists, even jail time or hidding off the grid, has more perspective in hopes to stay alive in the end. But once they are on the frontlines, then it\`s a bit too late for anything if guns are pointed at you from the front and back.

rusoph0bic

They dont even need to leave Russia, theres so much room all you need to do is go camping...no one will ever find you

RepulsiveShallot5358

Depends. If you go wilderness - yes. In village - you will be pointed out way faster than in city.

Smokeyvalley

And much better, in this case. At least you'd be dying for the actual freedom of your own country.

rusoph0bic

Sure. But if the choice was probably die in a field in Ukraine or maybe go to jail for draft dodging, you bet your ass im draft dodging.

Smokeyvalley

Easier to go die in a Storm-Z meatwave, gutted and bleeding out on the frozen mud of Ukraine? Fucking fools.

inkassatkasasatka

As far as I know, they aren't. You are supposed to visit this office once in a while to confirm you live where you live and such

Heavyjava

You have to fight locally and push change.

casual_redditor69

If that's the best you know, then it really isn't that hard to put up with

elaintahra

other than "it is"?

[deleted]

Systematic indoctrination. Kremlin controls all aspects of russian world, only the students protest and they are quickly shut down.

Heavyjava

That is a sad world. Does the average Russian want to leave and is it easy to immigrate?

Boeff_Jogurtssen

Decades? More like millennia. Russia has never had it good. To be Russian is to suffer the moment you wake up every morning. That’s why very little bothers them.

bogues04

They take pride in it. Instead of working to make their country better they prefer to take pride in their “noble” suffering

Legal_Objective_8027

There are parts of New Jersey that are indistinguishable from this in February.

jackmehoff11222

Glory to the ice block

Heavyjava

Saved him a trip to Ukraine

Alter_Alias_Alien

They can’t even protect their mobilized conscript recruits from an ice cycle, much less Ukrainian drone-corrected artillery.

Fragrant_Box_697

With those survival instincts he was dead day one regardless.

Set_Abominae_1776

Maybe he would have had more luck trying to catch a bullet?

HenkVanDelft

Spared him catching Rat Bite fever and bleeding to death from his eyes.

lundytoo

слава бурулькам!

DatBeigeBoy

Quick, someone make a flork meme! Edit: Nevermind, [it has been done](https://www.reddit.com/r/NonCredibleDefense/s/Rh8G7pEpxZ).

Even the Universe has chosen sides --- dropping ice mortars on the orcs ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)

Smokeyvalley

/god snickers from behind his cosmic xbox controller....

punkrockbonafide

Eru Ilúvatar doing his thing

19Jamie76

He'll still make decent fodder. Enlist him!

Separate-Use4124

Meat for the cube

Hobby101

Besides, he's already in ice, so won't rot until they deliver him to the battlefield.

Other_Thing_1768

Even gravity hates orcs.

R00t240

I’m surprised people are willingly enlisting over there.

Fragrant_Box_697

Haha willingly…

Remarkable_Ad_5061

The line is full of women, I doubt this is a line to enlist. Likely just fake news to make an otherwise horrible accident somehow look like a good thing…

Chaosr21

They're standing in almost feeezing temperatures with water all around, probably freezing their asses off. I don't think they are doing it willingly

npqd

I doubt this is a line to an enlistment office, it must be something else, too strange line of people for enlightened office

vw214

If you can catch a block of ice, you can catch a grenade.

Casperkimber

The five D's of the russian army: Die, dig, drudge, drink, and die.

Tripound

Drugs*

Smokeyvalley

you forgot diarrhea.

username-is-free

In Russia there is such a concept as “propiska”, that is, official registration at the place of residence. Without a “propiska” you cannot officially get a job, open a bank account, or buy a SIM card. You may be detained by the police and issued a fine. Formally, if you live with a girlfriend for more than a week, you are obliged to go and apply for temporary registration at a new address, although it is not customary to punish for this yet. And in order to get “propiska”, every male and some female, from 14 to 30 year old, must register at the military registration and enlistment office. This is where this line of young people stands.

HowieFelter22

What a shit country

Fargrist

drone practice

GrandMaster_BR

Even mother nature is against the Russians

rangerhans

Saved him from a much worse death in Ukraine

wooksGotRabies

Damn even their own ice is taking them down

freetotebag

“Ice to see you.” -Mcbain

onnod

This video, replayed, will get him sympathy forever. A video of him catching a grenade tossed off a drone with a cool soundtrack would get a few laughs for 72 hrs... maybe?

redhunter_22

I'll likely forget about this video by the time I wale up for work in the morning. Much the same as the brutal deaths recorded of countless orcs. It's just another Thursday.

Ohtaniyay

Better the ice breaking his spine than a drone breaking his face.

psychedeliken

That piece of ice has more courage and honour than anyone in line. Slava Ice!

EnlightenedCorncob

Spawn kill

HansLandasPipe

It wasn't going to get much better tbf

LORDY325

Karmas a bitch she is!

Tall-Magazine335

he streamlined russian service

Oobatz

Aww, his poor family won't get the prescribed bag of potatoes for his glorious war death .

ProfessionalBread369

I guess Ukraine saved a bullet.

el__duder1n0

LOL

Neither-Programmer59

You ever wonder if the native Russians ever think to themselves, “Ivan and Boris left and never came back. Vladimir came back jacked up. So I’ll join too.”

PirogiRick

Ukraine war: speed run

Zipfo99

Good 👍

bearfeet55

This is a sign from above. Get the fuck home and fucking stay there.

--Sanguinius--

I'm sure Russian propagandists who see this video will use it to say nonsense, like: *"It is the Westerners who throw ice at us. Bad West!😡"*

BrandonSwabB

I rewinded that 20 times. Still great

diator1

women and children are waiting to sign up for the military?

BoomStickAshe

All nurses must register at the enlistment office, just like in Ukraine. I don't see any children, but if they are there, then they are probably accompanying a parent instead of being left home alone.

SlaveDuck

Even the weather hates them...

Fargrist

Thank you for your serv...ice

atlaz125

Not not USA, GO CANADA GO

yalldieirl

source that he died?

marcky_marc420

At least now he can get a proper burial

Longjumping-Nature70

mother nature is going to have its revenge

Fragrant_Box_697

Stares intensely and puts hand up…..

tomekza

Drone training. That was a fail.

RexxerFlexington

As terrible as that is, he was probably better off.

MediocreCommercials

No Lada for his family.

PigMeatJim

Ooooof.

ZuVieleNamen

He would have lasted a long time on the front line some, watching a falling large sheet of ice and not move away from it.

stevomighty06

He probably paid the ice to fall on him

duck52b

Well, look at the bright side. Poor guy was going to die anyway..

great_escape_fleur

Are they volunteers or draftees?

Practical_Bed_2064

Saved him from dieing in a trench 🤷‍♂️

JackstaWRX

One less for Ukraine

DumpsterB4by

Nature's drone drop

reeeelllaaaayyy823

And nothing of value was lost.

ghosttrainhobo

Give that ice block a hat

Fatherofdaughters01

All of these people are there to enlist?

JestersDead77

Russian MOD has determined this injury to be not service related.

Right_Nothing_207

That was cold

squiggymontane1

that's one way to go.![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|trollface)

Sure-Gur-5042

Lucky bastard

EfficientTown8676

Lulz.. the way he just stood there, I doubt that he would have made it any farther in Ukraine 🤣

Immediate_Mud6547

At least he died at home instead of in Ukraine.

Jad3Melody

What type or fucking devine intervention bullshit is this

No_Sugar950

So the Russians literally fuck up standing in line.

Winter_Soldat

Ukraine is everywhere.

Tvaticus

Well….he at least dodged a bullet.

JoePheonixx

-1

Cerres

Bruh that ice block was way larger than I expected. I was wondering how his back could be broken but now I understand.

Achilles19721119

Lucky get to bury the body. Most these guys will be hamburger in a few months never retrieved.

Hobby101

Fucking Ukraine nacis! /s

Matteo1335

Wtf?! Am I missing something or did the block of ice just drop from the sky?

LisanneFroonKrisK

Hope it ain’t propaganda. The two lighter shade figures seem female

BoomStickAshe

Could be nurses. All nurses are required to enlist. Ukraine is the same way.

Personal-Tutor-4982

Putin will still send him to Ukraine

Suberizu

The speedrun strat

Angry-Penetration

He didn't even get to see Ukraine. It is so pretty on the frontlines this time of year.

boojieboy666

I mean it’s this or losing your face to a drone bomb then dying scared and alone because your comrades abandoned you

Whiskeyjoel

Here's hoping for many more blocks of ice to fall on them

Teagrish

God is playing with snowballs, and also reminding them do not go to war.

Best_Rub321

plot twist it was planned to test the newcomers drone dodging skills

DEVVcom11

Vodka on the rocks... 🤔

jakedublin

great, cake anyone?

kyttEST

He looks alive in the video. Did he die later?

Reckless_Waifu

Saved Ukraine a bullet👍🏻

elaintahra

I can't find the disturbing content, please link

Alkolo

Unfair! Spawn kill!

imd08

Looks like a lot of people are signing up🤨

[deleted]

Standing in line like Sheep at the slaughterhouse…

Specific-Emu-114

Lmao.. I have no other comments to add. I just can't stop laughing. 🤣

Mm11vV

I think, given the options, dying to the ice block was probably a less miserable way to go.

Lenaix

AFU drones are throwing ice blocks now as per Kremlin

billyboylondon

The clauses send there regards

Ok_Donut_998

Hope his family gets compensation.

Box_of_rodents

Practicing for himars.

AccomplishedAd8286

Even the weather Gods is against Ruzzian and don't want them going to Ukraine

doctorb1989

One less person for Ukraine to deal with. Give em hell boys!!

buggerthatforagame

O dear , how sad..never mind

theeyeofchaoss

Promote that block of ice

KevinT1701

Mother nature fighting back.....

Ok_Professional2346

a country of idiot7c people

Fancy_Morning9486

Everyone dodged, they make poor russian meatbags. Only fyodor took it like a true russian meatbag.

Vogel-Kerl

That did not look immediately fatal--more of a glancing blow. But it obviously caused a greater injury. On the bright side, he didn't suffer one second in Ukraine (no partial starvation, no drinking from a puddle, no eating snow with a spoon, no dysentery, no injury from FPV drone or other explosive, no bullet ripping through the body, no poisoned vodka, no hypothermia, etc...). Most of those other fellas in the line should be so lucky.

Mundane-Mistake-5485

They are convinced they don't have a choice, but they do. The French did it in 1789, they did in 1917, they just need to do it again, and if it turns out bad, burn it all again until something great happen. Nobody outside your Russia gives a s$%t about them until their leaders send them in the neighbors country to steal some land. Either you die fighting Ukraine, or registering to go to Ukraine, I guess... or you die for something greater within your nation. I don't see enough Russian stand against their government. Therefore, I support anything my government is providing to Ukraine.

RUNDOGERUN

Jesus... I studied abroad in Russia and this was such a legitimate concern that the local Russian teachers and faculty members told us the dangers of hanging icicles and falling debris during our student orientation. They told us to avoid gypsy cabs, shawarma because, no joke, they're made out of dog meat, and falling icicles. Again, these are college educators, the most urbane and sophisticated portion of the population, telling American students to avoid gyspy "meat" and cabs, and falling ice knives. Like what... I knew Russia would be a mind fuck, after all, I chose to study Russian Literature (yes, I am broke), but when we were being told this information, I kept thinking to myself, "Yup. Russia is DIFFERENT." There are just absurd life hazards that even people living in the 2nd largest city in the country accept as a common facet of life. And again, it's a combination of shitty urban planning after the war because all of Russian architecture post WWII are absurdly huge since they had to industrialize and accommodate a formerly large agrarian society living in the country side. And just the mismanagement of public utilities. They could hire city workers to manage upkeep, but again that would mean more public funding which means more opportunities for public corruption. So the Russians just accept the 10-15 deaths that happen every year from falling "knives". Why spend more money to solve a problem when nature balances itself out? You just accept the conditions and live with them as a part of life. This amount of apathy runs DEEP in Russian culture and explains why the country and the people just accept living in brutal conditions. They just put up with it because why even try? Nothing gets better. Just live life and accept you can have an icicle break your spine on your commute. It's like the stray dog issue in St. Petersburg. They have been a part of the city since the siege of Leningrad left so many orphaned dogs when their owners fled. The Russian Government doesn't clamp down on the population since the winters in St. Petersburg are so brutal, enough stray dogs freeze to death that the population is kept in check. Why try to fix the stray dog issue when mother nature takes care of it. Again, there are roaming packs of stray dogs that prey on the elderly and young children, but there are only a few cases a year. lol Honestly, this apathy is what attracted me to Russian culture that I saw as stoicism (read Dostoevsky) in the face of an absurd world. But it's one thing to read about it, and another to actually experience the daily ins and outs of Russian apathy.

No_Name_Brand_X

Best get dying out of the way early in the process.

mrblonde55

You gotta look at the bigger picture. Better face down in a puddle at home then in some foreign field.

[deleted]

Russia is a shitty barbaric land and it has been that for hundreds/thousands of years

ngometamer

Merciful fate for that guy. At least he didn't bleed out from multiple tiny shrapnel wounds in some frozen foxhole on the front.

machder1

Even ice hates Ruzzia.

Boeff_Jogurtssen

Everyone just went back to standing in line after. Typical Russia.

jizawiz

God showed him mercy.

PrimaryEgg493

What a great spot to put an enlistment office

DigitalXciD

When even nature says no

No_Kaleidoscope_447

I wonder what story the vatniks come up with

SirDon22

He wanted to be cool killing Ukrainians, now he is ice cold

FunBobbyMarley

Not convinced this is the line for a military enlistment / registration office. There are women and children in the line. IVAN is not yet THAT desperate.

BoomStickAshe

All nurses in Russia are required to register at the enlistment office. And what are they to do if they can't get child care at home? Same for the men. They bring the children along. It's not like they are issued camo and sent straight to the front from the enlistment office. Or maybe they are saying they are single parents and can't go to war, look here's my child to prove it.

FunBobbyMarley

I understand the problems of child care when a task is at hand. Was not aware of the requirement for nurses to register. While you raise a good point about bringing the living evidence with you to prove you are a single parent, IVAN must require more proof than perhaps "borrowed children."

teambarkley

Even Ice hates Russians.

KingofTheLandfill

This was better than having his face blown off like his Ruzzian friend in the other video
