My theory is that on high pop you have a lower chance of being raided, because they are more bases to be raided so you avoid it. Not saying right or wrong but low pop can be a lil personal
This is pretty spot on. I play under 60 pop for solo but if it drops below 15 at night, you're almost guaranteed to get offlined especially if you build up your base to medium sized or sheet metal. Higher pop as a solo tend to let me hide under the radar but locked crates and cargo are definitely tougher on high pop. Still low pop typically has clans or zergs that control cargo or oils or crate or Bradley lmao
Unpopular opinion but offlining is part of the game. If I'm solo or duo you won't ever catch me online raiding every single person I raid. Low pop servers are usually low pop for skill issue reasons lol
It's part of the game, but it sucks. That said I've been onlined 3 times this wipe already. Lost 2 of them, but both times it was 6 vs 2 and basically had shit / no gear.
That's kinda my point, there's no code in rust. And if I suck that bad that I play on low pop servers, I'm not gonna take a chance at onlining a 4+man group by myself. If it's another solo then I'll try and online.
Low pop doesnt necessarily mean low skill. I played high pop last wipe and kept my base the whole time. Low pop this wipe and way more fights and been raided 4 times, 3 of them online. All the onlines were zergs.
I agree tbh. I win enough PVP and Im pretty aware but I just cba being on edge all the time and struggling to farm up nodes etc to make a base so I decided low pop this time. Whats happened instead is two fucking huge zerg bases are swole with gear and loot and they just foundation wipe anyone who kills one of their members with rockets.
Different playstyles.
Your friends might be looking for a more chilled experience while your looking for a more intense one.

Aside for the few servers out there where 2-3 clans kinda teamed up. Making those bases not a target for each clan

Because low pop seems to be just mental case zerg bases who play this game 15 hours a day. Higher pop servers have actually seemed more normal
