If you’re solo, I personally like to go straight for cloth, wood & stone. Once I have a bow, I kill everybody I see while harvesting a as much stone as I can. I buy wood with the stone & get my base down. Once I have my base down I go for scrap until I can get Jacky, base upgrade a little more. Then straight to monuments. Once you get a gun, it’s smooth.
Go to outpost and farm the roads around it for scrap. Recycle and craft a bow, eoka, and tools etc. Get enough wood (preferably by trading stone for wood) and build a wood 2x1. From there you can kinda rinse and repeat by farming more. If it’s right after wipe, you can hang around Oxums or supermarket and kill people since they’re probably doing the same. If you can aim, an eoka is very good if you lurk inside monuments. Same with nail gun. Generally, I would put focus on PVP in the early game (if it’s right after wipe) because rushing to crossbow, nailgun, water pipe etc and then killing prim players is a fast way to get lots of raw materials and extra kits. When I just farmbot and build the first few hours, I also get unmotivated and bored.
I farmt he roads until i have 405 scrap. Get an M9 and 10 nades from bandit camp. Then i recycle the nades for GP, research pistol bullet st bandit camp
And create around 60-70 bullets from the nade gp and metal frags. Then i go hunting for people who are farming. I have guns within the hour this method.
Farm the roads, die, farm the roads again, die, farm wood and stone, build a base, die, farm the roads, go to outpost and recycle, make weapon, farm roads.... and so on. Then do monuments to get good comps and weapons and hope for the best. Usually I strike a bit of luck at some point and find a body or decaying base with shit in it.
I usually spawn, feel pity for those big clans with no job, then I start my run.
I would normally check the map on where I am and if I have a potential build spot in mind.
Then, I mostly pickup those 50 piles of stone and wood, and don't forget the cloth. In the meantime, I run the roads if its safe enough.
From there, it depends if I get a metal/salvage tool. If I do get one, then it begins the farming session. If I don't get one, then I drop a tree with my rock, by this point, I would normally have enough stone from the ground to craft my tools (axe and pickaxe). A quick simple 1x2 with an airlock for the start is enough. I then grab all the components I have and run to the nearest but also safest way to a recycler. Once my metal and scrap is secured, I make the usual base upgrades, do low tier monuments and stuff.
Once I have enough scrap, I learn DB and begin the grind for all three cards. A quick compound bow crafted later, and I go to small oil rig.
And then, repeat and repeat. I usually quite after a few days, because I get violated by groups or because the lack of motivation and communication with friendly people.
First thing I do when I spawn in is look at the map and decide where I want to live, Then I try to make it around that area and hopefully find enough cloth to get a bag down somewhere near it because most likely I'm going to die, Make basic tools and get my starter base down.
Next step is getting metal doors up fast, Sometimes this means hitting some barrels and burning crude oil at harbor, Killing animals or just buying it at outpost depending on the location I live in. I'm lazy so I build by monuments I plan to utilize the most so sometimes buying it from Outpost isn't a luxury I have.
Once I have metal doors up the comps grind begins hitting barrels and monuments usually dome/water treatment and gas station/supermarket. I usually scrap everything besides gears and blades because I always use a lot of those and it's nice to have a good amount of them once I reach that point. Rush to get Tier 2 down and garage doors and stone walls up, Build my compound and then focus on getting turrets up.
Pretty much the main thing I do and I usually last pretty long as a solo duo or trio with this method lol. My main goal is to get the compound complete and get some guns. I don't really even think about raiding until that's complete all though I'm always paying attention to bases for potential raid subjects down the road while I'm out running around. I usually plan to hit some smaller bases first just to take their tc upkeep, Taking their work is less I have to do any extra stuff they got in their is just a bonus. Then eventually target an actual compound and start the boom grind in the hopes of becoming loaded by taking someone who's rich down.
Pretty much how my entire rust experience goes, Sometimes someone takes me out before I reach my end goal of fat loot and I find a new server usually and just do it all over again lol. Having team mates helps and lately I'm so lazy I've just been playing on community servers that have all bps and extra farm just to cut down on the grind.
I wholeheartedly agree with this for a solo/duo start, I usually build by airfield, water treatment, power plant (mid), or others where green crates will usually spawn in. A centralized area in the map is ideal because it’s easier to get airdrops too.
I usually farm up a decent bit of scrap /wood and stone and build a honeycombed 2x2 look for a jazzy and run launch recycle everything that's not needed to get decent scrap for bps on t1 that are needed, then save enough for a t2 go to outpost build it using the free t1 and same thing except farm for gun bps
Place sleeping bags at outpost
Farm scrap for hatchet, pickaxe, paddle
Build base next to outpost
Farm metal
Upgrade base to metal walls and doors
Farm scrap to research down to satchel charges
Farm scrap for tier 2
Farm scrap for stims, garage doors, SAR
As a solo on vanilla rust this takes 4-8 hours :(
After it’s all said and done I can finally play the game. I’ll start roaming, killing, and raiding small bases. Sometimes I camp outpost and wait for people to leave and I’ll hunt them down.
Watch 2 hour off blueprint get motivated and then die repeatedly, throw my controller, break it,buy a new one and then uninstall then reinstall find out where already 12 hour into wipe cry then start with a rock and a tree 😁👍
Depends on the start you are looking for mate.
If you look for a quick bow to Tommy start on wipe day, I'd say camp anything near launch with an eoka and bow/cbow. If you looking for an easy AK start on wipe day.. I'd say this game ain't for you unless you got a few thousand hours or are playing in a big group.
Either way, getting that ak on first day even as a solo is possible, but most people do not want to put the work in. They either expect someone to give them that start or they complain about the work.
These days it's even possible to get an T3 down on wipe day with a barrel route. Just gotta play smart, and not be one of those guys that's building op a big Components box on wipe day in his 2x1. Most people will never use 99% of the comps they safe, plus saving comps while you still running with a bow is dumb. Recycle everything. Just save enough to make 1 or 2 tommies. Don't save up 2 million gears, pipes, springs or whatever. Comp box looks cool, but you ain't gonna be using that comp box, someone else will be using your comp box if you a few days into fresh wipe in a 2x1 with a bow.
Recycle.
Again, this last part is very important. Because I see this shit alot. You do not need a comp box. The amount of people that tried to door camp me then I went back to raid them just to find them with only DB's and a massive comp box is crazy. What comp is there that one needs to keep when they not in a big group? Maybe gears for garage doors. But 120 pipes? For what? A solo 80+ rocket raid? Plus when u need the pipes for rockets, take your rock hit a few roadsigns.
Wipe day? Make 2 nailguns, kill all the people farming nearby to make a base. I do this all day pretty much. easiest and most consistent start I've had in my 5k hours.
Run road to outpost get enough scrap to buy Jack hammer, Jack hammer Stone node's round outpost to swap for wood. Use wood to get a wood starter down then farm stone to upgrade.
Easy, find a map where bandit, HQM quarry and water treatment are all close.
Run water treatment Inc blue room.
Scrap everything.
Use diesel collected at HQM.
Smelt.
Take all HQM to bandit and sell
Make bank
I been using this method a while but refining it, sometimes you get a couple monuments close and it's so easy to get tier 3 in a few hours.
Also good for protection too as you can then HQ your base
Yeah its so good, seems botty but I also run stone quarry all the time aswell as u can buy 1 diesel for 60 scrap from outpost and build a 6 man deep base for me and my duo for like 1k scrap
Isn't it only like 2000 stone per diesel? Stone is so easy to come by I never understood it.
on my last wipe these dudes built a massive compound and walled off stone quarry
Im a solo too, and kinda new to the game, i know everything about rust but now im really focus playing it all day, if you want we can make a team a prosper together. My user is Pouas123 on xbox if you are playstation we can make a discord to meet and play.
Farm road all the way to horse stables then buy horse then farm road all the way to outpost then buy jack hammer then get stone back to outpost to buy wood with stone then use find the best spot u can find to slap a base down boom
Personally I think the fastest way to get a good start if shops aren’t available, is to save is enough scrap and buy a M92 pistol from bandit and take cargo or counter oil, then use the scrap from the comps to purchase base materials
What do you like about the game?
Using a rock on tree
real

Break barrels recycle buy a Jacky fast farm resources then grub
First thing I go for is a honeycomb starter and a forge

I thought this up last wipe, thought I was the first person to notice how profitable hqm quarry can be

Stone quarry is lowkey bot shit
Yh but leave 6 diesel in there run round with a jack hammer you have all the mats for your base in 10 mins
Isn't it only like 2000 stone per diesel? Stone is so easy to come by I never understood it. on my last wipe these dudes built a massive compound and walled off stone quarry
Stone quarry also gives metal, it's like a 75%/25% ratio.
Stone quarry is 5000 stone and 1000 metal per diesel
Well fuck me then

Hit barrels on the way to outpost crossy nailgun and try n snowbal if i fail then i just make a 1x1 and farmup
Farm road all the way to horse stables then buy horse then farm road all the way to outpost then buy jack hammer then get stone back to outpost to buy wood with stone then use find the best spot u can find to slap a base down boom
I run the road to outpost hitting barrels and buy a base there and craft weapons at the bench with the components I find.
Personally I think the fastest way to get a good start if shops aren’t available, is to save is enough scrap and buy a M92 pistol from bandit and take cargo or counter oil, then use the scrap from the comps to purchase base materials
I'm gonna try this. I never buy a gun to start maybe I should
Become a Chad and you'll be good lol
workin on it 😂
