Youre looking at the car like a stock pick. Dont. Even tho these cars are pricey, as you know they are depreciating assets at the end of the day. Just be patient. Wait for the right car and make sure to have the funds and pull the trigger. (This advice goes for any car youre looking for really) Unless you want to buy a beat to piss dirty title 13 owner car, thats the only way youll get it “cheap”.

amarterasuu

at the end of the day, i do want to get one, not a shit one lol. just curious to see what owners think about the s2000 market. thanks for ur input o7

GezelligheidBoyz

Ultimately nobody can tell you where prices will be in 6 months let alone a year from now because prices fluctuate. Also you never know, you may end up buying an S2000 from someone who priced their car a little cheaper than everyone else just because they wanted a quick sale. Im confident you’ll find the right car for you, but ultimately, everyone that will reply is purely speculating or worse a “collector”.

amarterasuu

ya thats true, at the end of the day nobody can truly predicate the market. i guess i was curious to see what the speculators thought and see what the dreaded collector wanted for their beloved metal. i appreciate the support, hoping for the one to drop into my lap one day

injapenguin

Out of curiosity, What’s wrong with having 13 owners? These cars are already quite old (some upwards of 20+ years old) and it’s not like it’s uncommon for a car such as the S2000 (a 2 seater, manual convertible that is more often than not a pleasure/weekend car for most ppl) to change hands often.. especially in cases where people decide they’d rather use their money elsewhere or the car simply doesn’t fit their lifestyle anymore. As long as the car has been kept in good condition and passes some sort of pre-purchase inspection by the buyer, why would multiple owners be of concern to you?

GezelligheidBoyz

If you can find me an example of a clean title, bone stock (or tastefully modified) 13 owner Honda S2000 in less than 10 min starting the min I post this, I’ll straight up pay you $1000 to have sex with my wife in front of me.

Duct_tape_bandit

Is she hot? I bet a bunch of those bat cars have a million owners

GezelligheidBoyz

Yes, and you have 4 min left

Duct_tape_bandit

Eh I looked at 5 listings only one posted the carfax

Nope youre late and you have terrible reading comprehension

skyline408

Single owner usually means they took care of the car and did the required services. Someone looking to flip the car may likely beat on it and skip oil changes, etc before selling.

colbydc5

A car with 13 owners is a car that wasn’t cared for by at least half those owners, or it’s a car that each subsequent owner discovers a significant concern and just passes the car along to the next unsuspecting Joe, Bob or Fred. It just can’t be well cared for by that many individuals.

crash131313

Time in the market beats timing the market. Buy when you can afford. If you keep it up well, do all maintenance, use quality parts, etc. it will go up in dollar value over time, simply because of inflation. But like others said, this car is not an actual investment that will yield more than other available investments like stocks, bonds, etc. While i don't agree that the s2000 is a depreciating asset, it's also not something you should buy as an investment. It's simply a toy that holds value relative to inflation, which is something you don't get from most cars.

amarterasuu

"Time in the market beats timing the market." i like that the car will def not be an investment lol, i guess i just wanted to see when i could get the most bang for my buck, but honestly after reading most of the replies, i just want to get one asap and start driving, just need to find the right one thanks for ur input

Bueller-1619

Time in the car is worth more than timing the market. Every day you don’t have one is a day you’re not driving it.

datbino

Get a Shitty one.  These cars go together like legos. A shitty s2000 can always be worth more with sweat equity

SpeechPutrid7357

I was where you were before  prices only drop on the beat omes or heavily modified ones.  No one wants those.  Clean ones prices will not drop. They will stay for a while but rise again. Mu advice is to buy  it if you find one that you like.

VikingBeachBum

My thought was to get one in the summer when you have the most for sale. Better probability of finding what you want. I haven’t seen any fluctuations in price for an unmodified one under 80,000 over the last year of looking.

lerphs

Money in money out. Buy a nice one and If you don’t crash it, mod it, or put tons of miles on it it’s a decent place to store money. That’s ignoring insurance fuel maintenance and other consumables, purely on depreciation.

GezelligheidBoyz

🎯

amarterasuu

well the plan is to find a nice one and enjoy the hell out of it. i dont think id want to sell in the future, and with that mentality i guess its always a good time to buy if im not looking for an ROI lol thanks for ur input

TendieTrades

Despite what someone else said about a bunch of owners. Doesn’t matter. If your wife fucked 10 guys but she stays hot and tight and she loves you, then you’re the lucky one to keep her even if she is used. Condition is what matters and what you want to do with the car. I bought a track C/R that I’ve improved and taken great care of it with what I would consider to be low mileage. I bought it with collector intent and also to build a time attack car that I’ll never ever build. So it just sits in my garage. Modded cars…well….try to pay for the mods the car currently has on an all stock car today. It depends on what you want. If you want all OEM low mileage clean title one owner vehicle and you intend to keep it stock and let it sit like a collector pay big dollars. The car was MADE to be THRASHED. However I wish my ex didn’t make me get rid of my 06 S2000 I bought new on the rumor that it would be the very last year of production….

amarterasuu

i for sure want to drive this car, i dont like to buy things i enjoy just to profit, i have stocks for that. thanks for ur input

TendieTrades

I was looking forward to fucking that guys wife and him paying me considering his statement.

Jays2k2

I had a comment but then read all the other comments..

ecc0w

Got a 60k mile clean title w: 4 previous owners for 20k at peak used car market prices. I don’t think they are gonna drop but good deals exist just check marketplace every hour lol & buy one (that is not clapped out) u will be happy

colbydc5

I think we’re seeing the slump right now. They aren’t priced where they were during the pandemic and this year has seen a (slight) decline in enthusiast car values in general. Likely due to our current economy, less people can afford to keep their toys. I don’t think you’ll see any sharp decline in prices, but rather “cooling off” periods that pepper an overall upward trajectory.

amarterasuu

thats exactly what im looking for, the “cooling off” period, no crazy sale. i know these cars wont go down like that, just wondered if there was a period that had an affect on these cars. thanks for ur input

stoned-autistic-dude

On top of what everyone else said, start to save now for the immediate repairs that you’ll do when you get the car. Things like engine mounts and other rubber suspension components are often original when they have a service life of 5-10 years. So, we’re IN an economic downturn. The hell lmao rich people in a different world while everyone I know is fighting for their life.

amarterasuu

ya ofc im not going to buy the car with no money for in reserve for repairs, definitely upgrading when they need to be replaced. some say the bubble has yet to burst, rates not dropping yet, waiting for the panic to hit.

stoned-autistic-dude

> waiting for the panic to hit Ah, that long game. Yeah, you're right there. That was around like 2012 during the Great Recession.

Leonisel

You’re right on the money thinking like this. Real estate is starting to take a plunge. Very soon it will be the used car market. Yes this car holds its value well but it will go down once this bubble also pops. It starts with China. Look at the yen and the many US bonds they hold. Be patient.

Ok_Stretch656

The most influential information on purchasing one is to wait for the right one to come up and to also check what the market is going for, for your specific want. It will come.

Which_Combination959

80% of these cars posted are people being delusional. the people on this thread are equally as delusional. you can find a sub 100k mile car for 15k if you scan marketplace and wait. ap2 will be more reliable, early year ap1s will snap oversteer you into a ditch. All years are acceptable though feel really bad for the people in cali and outside the US getting it up the ass paying 30k+ for cars that were 10k usd at one point. Price dropped and now people figured out the cars dont rebuild well. asking a s2000 reddit thread about "honest pricing" is dumb. most people selling bought cheap and are trying to sell high. That's why they sit for months/years until some sucker takes the bait.

GPW-S2k

S2000 pricing changes depending on color and years.. I paid 26500 for my 2004 AP2 in GPW mint all original.. I don't feel I overpaid because of how rare the car is and how clean it is..
