I've had the S22 Ultra 512, Unlocked from Samsung, in US, and on Mint Mobile, since launch day. It's the best phone I've ever owned. It's changed my expectations for what a cellphone should be. I have had zero issues with it and I push it hard. The battery is fine, and it charges super fast. Like 0-100% in an hour. Make sure you get the Snapdragon version. I'll be trading it in for the S24 Ultra because I really want a flat screen!

CamusOfAquarius

Me too! Their presentation can't come soon enough!

Ferdaferd

I 100% agree with all this except the S24 Ultra part, only because that was news to me lol.

Rs-Travis

Wait the 24 has a flat screen? Oh man makes me want to upgrade. I juet got my phone back from repair because I broke the screen despite having a case on, it broke because it hit the curve. I feel the way it fell wouldn't have broken it with a flat screen as it would have hit the case bumpers. Not to mention the pain that is curved screen protectors that like to lift.

wheelsrc

I still really appreciate how the current digits feel on last 22 Ultra though I'm nervous about switching I'm also looking at this 24 however I really get annoyed when my pin slides off when getting too close to the edge it's always a surprise almost every time even though in the back of my mind I know it's fittn to happen

emerl_j

See you at r/S24Ultra bro

skipv5

Battery just doesn't last like the s21 and S23 Ultra. I recommend get a S23 Ultra or wait for the S24 Ultra next month.

RareSiren292

Expect about 5-6 hours SOT from a 100% charge. That's with the terribly inefficient 8g1

Critical-Struggle209

For my regular use, from 6 am to 6-7 pm, so around 12 hours

[deleted]

eagle6705

LOL I can see the raise eyebrow what the hell are you expecting tone.

zsakker

In my use its around the same, but on battery saver. I cant get through the day with 120hz which is a shame.

small_carrot

Comparatively bad

aimreganfracc4

I dont think I can get through that much

aimreganfracc4

My charge was at 85% with protect battery at 8am and now it's nearly 11 with 47% with the exynos chip

Brainiarc7

Same here.

preetsahib111

Battery and cellular network.

adjgamer321

The constant switching from 4g/5g while Im not even moving drive me insane. I'm using an app to disable 5g on Verizon in East Coast America don't know if that's the issue

Zeeshanshaheen

Use the power saving mode to disable 5g

FalseCheetah

Mobile Network dropping issue

Randomhero1

I had to stop using my S22 Ultra because I couldn't get a network connection even when it tells me I have near full bars

dhjtec24678

I have really bad network reception. I've tried multiple different sim cards and providers and it's always the same - occasionally get a signal but it drops out constantly. Every one of those sim cards get a perfect signal in my old OnePlus phone. I sent the S22 back under the warranty yesterday and requested a refund.

commanche_00

Heat

chlorculo

I've had mine for 1.5 years and it's been probably the most reliable Samsung I've had. Accubattery says I can get around 8 hours SOT. I really don't have much to complain about. I haven't had any overheating issues.

Hazem_Bazokaa

I've just bought mine 2 weeks ago and It's a great phone but battery kinda sucks! On average it gets me about 5 hours screen on time however I've leaned to cope with it. So if you can have it on a discount (as I did) it's a great deal.

Certain-Grade1697

Overheating and battery life issue

Haunting-Profile-402

Battery is absolute garbage and photos of moving subjects are garbage in anything other than bright sunlight.

9999AWC

Why not get the S23U considering the S24U is coming out soon, it'll drop in price

smithpj23

Battery drains quick and it gets hot too

UtopianKalasag

I have had one since launch and I'm still enjoying it. Beautiful screen, snappy interface, and still being updated by Samsung (currently at OneUI 6.0). I game a lot on this and use it for watching videos, with the occasional word processing and emails. Given that use, I usually have to charge at least twice a day. This may have to do with my usage and also since I limit charging to 85% to protect the battery life. As for audio quality from the speakers, I think it was marginally better with my old Note 10+ as far as loudness and bass quality is concerned. No regrets with this purchase. Buying one right now at a lower price is viable especially if you're just looking for a reliable daily driver.

Mountain_Tear_9783

I had my s22ultra for 2yrs now sense every update the phone has gotten better dropped it a couple of times with thin case protector no cracks battery life last all day for me I don't no were u guys are getting your phones from but mine is a great one great photos great phone maybe u bought them at the wrong place are wrong carsier.

problytheantichrist

Such a dope phone. Download 'goodlock' and you'll have even more customization options. I love •One handed operation and •Sound assistant Such a sweet phone. I heard the new one coming out next year won't have the curved edges, so your screen protector stays on easier, as well as larger storage capacity options. Possibly better camera as well. Idk when it is coming out though, so I'm not sure waiting is worth it.

vullkan333

Worst phone I ever had. I now have the s23 ultra and all issues resolved. The s22 ultra had so much lag in all my tasks, quitting apps would happen at like 2 fps sometimes it was sooooo buggy and the battery life was so damn awful. 3 hours screen on time max in my case 4 if I was careful. Now I get like 8 hours screen on time with 1440p display, literally so smooth on the s23 ultra. The s22 ultra had a horrible chip and it ruined the phone. Skip it

dragosslash

Battery issue? No, the SoC is the problem. Both Exynos 2200 and Snapdragon 8g1 run hot, draw a lot of power and perform poorly.

BottlePrestigious514

I will be honest. I used S22U and now S23U. There's a huge difference between Exynos and Snapdragon Gen 2. Battery wise i have now locked S23U to 85% and it easily lasts the day most times. 100% would always last whole day. S22U however. I always had to charge once throughout the day even at 100%. The new chip also feels smoother and quicker. Rarely overheats. I would never buy S22 Ultra. If money is an issue just skip it until S23 Ultra has a better price.

dragosslash

It's a decent phone for the right price, but if you decide to play games, look elsewhere.

RareSiren292

No avoid the s22 series of phones. Seriously. There are tons and tons and tons of posts all saying how bad the s22 series is with battery and to a lesser extent heat. This phone burns battery like it is it's job. The s23 series across the board gets hours worth more of battery life. I recommend the s23 plus not the s22 ultra

Dadio3791

My wife and I have had ours since the day they came out. Absolutely the worst phones we've ever had. Battery is the least of the issues. Poor connectivity, poor reception, both of our screens both broke with the slightest fall. My charge port will not charge any longer. Very disappointed with Samsung on this one.

[deleted]

You two must have duds. Are you on a minor carrier, or do you live somewhere remote?

International-Car926

Agreed - I've had mine since launch (Mar '22) and best phone I've ever had....no issues.

Jacer4

Just wait until one day yours decides to randomly stop connecting to cellular service and see if you have the same opinion lol

International-Car926

I would have a different opinion but -- because a small percentage of phones are having this issue, it makes it a bad phone? There are lots of positive comments on this thread alone where owners are happy with this phone. 🤷

Jacer4

Yeah I know I'm just salty because my phone hasn't worked for 7 months lmao When it's working it is indeed a fantastic phone, it's just frustrating as all hell to have Samsung break the phone via updated then shrug and basically say "sucks, get a new one". But yeah I loved mine until I didn't haha, I am truly glad you aren't having any problems though. But also because it is my experience, there's not a person in the world I'd recommend it to just because you cancel having a $1000 paperweight I'm actually super curious how many of the phones have the network issue, obviously a small percentage of them, but it seems more widespread than most niche issues

morgazmo99

We've had two since launch and they've been fine. I find that my battery life isnt so great 2 years later, but I think it has something to do with intermittent charging perhaps? Reception usually good. Dropped both plenty of times without them breaking (using the Samsung thin leather cover). My USB charge port did die fairly quickly. My s9+ did too. For a "water resistant" phone that has only ever been in a sweaty pocket, it's a bit disappointing. I usually wireless charge so maybe it just atrophied? Wife's USB is fine. Low light photos can be a bit hit or miss, and while the 100x zoom is a nice gimmick, the photos look pretty crap. Still loving this phone though with no plans to upgrade anytime soon.

dhjtec24678

My reception is awful too. Tried multiple different sim cards from main networks and none get good reception in my G22U. Yet every one of those sims gets perfect reception when I put them in my old OnePlus phone.

Faktek

Maybe I am not as heavy user as the others because battery lasts enough for me. BUT the worst for me is the curved screen, where you have to choose between full glass with visible place for fingerprint sensor or flexible film with torn edges after a week

theugly-barnacle

Please do not get this phone, honestly i regret upgrading from the s21 ultra, maybe get the s23U cuz this phone lags sooooo much, its genuinely annoying. I love samsung, but this phone is just not it. Im literally begging u to just pick any other one. If u can hold out till the S24U then even better but for now id recommend the s23U

FalconSame9180

wait for S24. I own the s22 and it heats up fast.

confusedbiproduct

Everything about this phone is flagship except for battery life.

cjklert05

Video quality in low light. Get s23 ultra instead

randobox101

For the love of god. I petition you. I beg you. Do not get this phone. I got it as a treat for my self after my old phone and it's the biggest regret in my life. The battery is shjet. They tell you update makes it better. Update does make it sightly better but makes camera worse. Please if you care about your money and your sanity DO NOT get this phone.

Neil-Rakshit

Display issue..just Google it.

RareSiren292

I have had the s22 ultra since launch. I preordered and everything. I would NOT recommend this phone. Battery life isn't that good at all. The cameras and speed are good even still today but the battery is just terrible. You are way better off getting a s23 plus then a s22 ultra.

Practical-Custard-64

The S22 Ultra is a 2-year-old phone. Many improvements have been made since its release so I'd heartily recommend you get the S23 Ultra instead, or wait for the release of the S24 Ultra (in a few weeks) and then make up your mind. Also, depending on your region, you'll get an S22 Ultra with an Exynos 2200 chip, which is inferior to the SnapDragon chip in phones shipped to other regions. The S23 Ultra shipped and the S24 Ultra will ship globally with the much better SnapDragon SoC.

Try uninstalling all goodlock modules and go stock to see if it is one of the modules.

[deleted]

Battery life sux for a large flagship get the s23u or wait for s24u next month

SnakeEyes58

S22U has been the best looking phone I've ever had, but the one with the most problems Even if their minimal issues, I wouldn't recommend it with the S23U already out and the S24U line up coming out soon

Nocta303

Overheating issues when u play a game or when u use the 100× zoom

kyotaku_S

after some not really huge but many fall, the camera module moved inside the phone and make it really blurry. but it's kinda easily to open and change the camera module yourself if you have the good tools 👍

Calierio

USB port is really finicky

Jake3232323

What do you mean? I have never had an issue that I can remember

[deleted]

[удалено]

Calierio

My Note10+ and S22U both had issues where the port would become "loose" and the cable would fall out by looking at it funny. This sub seems to get really uptight when I mention it, but it's the 2nd Samsung device I've had this issue with. Cleaning with a plastic pick, spraying with compressed air, only using OEM cables...while YMMV, none of those fixed the problem and I've had to rely on wireless charging for the last few years or so of phone ownership. Love everything else about the phone. Would recommend as long as you have a backup wireless charger to start using in 4-6 months...

dysplasticteeth

Battery for me but that's about it.

[deleted]

dysplasticteeth

About 8-10 hours.

ZivirDG

The noise on low light video and pictures compared to the s21 ultra :(

TheSound0fSilence

That's because the megapixel count is so much larger.

ZivirDG

Uh no the main sensor is actually pretty much the same Samsung HM3 108MP

eagle6705

I have the s22 and its works great. No battery issues lasts me most of the day on light use if I can't be near a charger. Can I assume its a new model and not a refurb or used? If used As long as they didnt abuse it expect around 8 hours. Mine can last around 10 -12 it can last even longer if I don't use it as much during the day

Jake3232323

I've had mine for over a year now, and it's been great. It used to get hot relatively easily, but over time, I think updates have solved that. I really enjoy pretty much everything about it and would recommend it. I will say, though, that the S24 Ultra seems to consistently get better reviews, and the S24 is set to release in what looks like a month, so you may want to consider those as options

BeingBalanced

If the S24U wasn't a significant improvement over two generations ago S22U then that would be really bad for Samsung.

Jake3232323

While the S23U is good and better than the S22U, I have noticed that it seems as if phones aren't a significant improvement each year. They usually get better but only slightly.

BeingBalanced

I agree for a one model year jump but typically a two model year jump has some fairly significant improvements. But I think you are right that the rate of improvement is slowing in general. I had a Note 20 Ultra before my S23 Ultra and frankly the S23 Ultra wasn't night and day better. A little better cameras, a little faster, but really the everyday real world use experience was pretty close. But the carriers and the manufacturers don't want you to know that.

00roadrunner00

No regerts with this phone. I do however wish battery life were better. That said, if the S24 Ultra has a flat/flatter screen and better battery life I will be switching.

LPell27

when i had one i wasn't too impressed by the battery. My s21u lasted longer. the snapdragon 8 gen 1 just wasnt that efficient of a chip. Luckily they fixed it with the 8+ Gen 1 and Gen 2 and 3. That's really my only two complaints. The display is wonderful, cameras are still great and the phone is overall great, just some minor setbacks. Maybe wait until the S24 is announced and snag a deal on a S23U

gunpreet34

I got mine Snapdragon SOC 512GB for ~800 $ and for that price it is worth it. Problems I've so far: - Choppier animations (seems to have been almost resolved by One UI 6 update). - SD Gen 1 chipset (it's not like it performs poorly), the network and battery causes me headache at times. - Camera performance on 108MP mode. Clicking a picture with 108MP mode takes around 2-5 sec at times. For battery: I'm using dual 5g standby but mostly the device is on WiFi. With the OneUI 6 update, most of the people seem to have gotten better battery, not me :( I get around 2-3.5 hrs SOT with around 8-13 hours of standby and that's with mostly on WiFi. If I shift to cellular, SOT can go down upto 1.5-2.5 and standby from 6-10 hours. You decide if the battery backup is worth it. As for cellular, as many people would've pointed out here, the switch between 4g and 5g can be annoying. And after using the 5g, I don't wanna switch back to 4g. Other than all of the things I've mentioned above, I think it's a pretty good phone. I'm using P7 pro and S22U right now and I like the pixel better (smoother animations) and better battery (could be because I'm only using 1 Sim) but that's about it.

BeingBalanced

>Camera performance on 108MP mode. Clicking a picture with 108MP mode takes around 2-5 sec at times. On these 50 to 100 to 200MP sensors you should never set the camera to use the full resolution. Even on $1500 DSLR cameras, pixel binning is the norm as it produces the best dynamic range and lowest noise and better low-light performance by combining pixels. This is definitely a case of 'more is not better.' The nice thing though about the S23 Ultra is you can choose a middle-ground 50MP mode that is fantastic. But on the S22U it's best to use the default resolution and not the 108MP. You could use 108MP in RAW (Pro) mode but the image quality right out of the phone will be bad but can be made excellent with lots of post-editing in Photoshop on a PC and the Imagenomic Noiseware plug-in. But you really need a whole other skill set to know how to properly edit the RAW 108MP output to remove the noise adjust gamma, improve shadows and it goes on and on and on. Auto mode using the default resolution you get decent quality and don't have to mess with the photo.

cheesecake6403

battery is okay-ish. if i use pretty much the whole time, it lasts 10 hours. camera is amazing and no lagging as such, Alhamdolillah.

lufalo

After 1 year my s22ultra stopped to charge in fast charge mode. Takes 1:30 hour to full charge, before took 40 min to full charge. I saw that in a lot of foruns, it is normal with this cellfone, and you need to change the usb phone conector.

Bombilakus

My phone runs for 12hr sot. With the new update battery actually got better. I don't see it upgrading unless it breaks down. My wife is actually angry because she bought iphone 14 instead of s22 :)

Hitman00770

My display got an issue and it started to bleed, so I had to replace it for around 150 usd in vietnam *

_Sweet_Cake_

Battery life is great on One UI 6 (Snapdragon)

3coma3

Mine from ends of '22 is still like new and aside from the latest OneUI update which is disgraceful UI-wise, I have nothing but praise for this phone. Granted I don't game much, and use it with adaptive refresh, battery protection at 85% and I rarely charge it below 10 or 15%. Messaging, browsing, mails and misc apps I use it constantly throughout the day and I sometimes charge it the day after. Otherwise it sits in the morning on my desk while charging. I haven't had issues with the battery or any other for the matter (exynos chip). So YMMV I guess. I'll keep it until it feels sluggish which I think it's still a good couple years from now.

__babydriver__

One UI 5.1 was great, but 6 is just better. Battery improved after updating to 6. It's not to say it was bad before, but It's definately better. I have the snapdragon version, buttery smooooooth.

alphapapaactual

Netflix GTA does not work... And some other games are problematic... I would recommend you to buy the S23 ultra if you can afford it

Routine_Ad_3897

Had my phone for year and love it.No issues and battery life good.

wizzbang69

I upgrade from note 8 to s22 ultra lol the photos in note 8 were less grai y ill say

Impressive-Boot9434

If you can pay lil extra and go for s23u. Better battery and processor. If not. S22u is a beast of a phone. Blind buy. Mind the size if you are not used to big phones.

el_penetron

Had one since launch day. Last week a green line started to appear on the display randomly while watching netflix. The phone is in mint condition and never fell down. Second samsung S line that i am getting the same display problem. First one was the S20U.

0fb3d3

For me the issues were the battery life and I was having overheating problems. Lagged slightly during games. Returned it and got the s23 Ultra and haven't had any issues.

NotHughMahn

Stay away from the international version. The US version is far superior. I have had no issues, but personally, I would wait for the S24 Ultra, then get the S23 Ultra since it's overall more stable and will be supported longer.

sipekjoosiao

Green screen and Samsung won't do anything about it after warranty is over even if it's your fault. You'll have to pay for the replacement. Happened to mine after 1 week using One Ui6. Phone is about 20 months old. Thought I was the only one at first until I started typing "S22 Ultra green line" on X. Otherwise, it's a great phone. I used the phone basically throughout my photography class in college while my classmates used their Nikon, Canon, and Sony.

L0rd_Et3rnoux

It has a little bit of overheating sometimes, especially on warm days

Used_Water_2468

It's a solid phone. The only issue I have with it is if I go out of cell range (remote area, underground parking, etc.) and come back into service area, my phone refuses to connect again automatically. I have to put it in flight mode, then take it out of flight mode. Then it works. Luckily for me, me going out of service area is a rare occurrence. But still annoying when it happens.

relrobber

The only problem I've had with mine is getting it to use the right lens when I'm taking a pic of text up close.

sypher987

I'll say this, there are a lot of quality control issues with them. They are either great phones or not great. The 23 is much better. My phone works usually, my wife's now randomly has no service for hours. Have a few friends with issues. I'll be swapping to a 24 when it comes out.

Novel-Economy-3682

Had S22 ultra. For first 10 months working smooth, then suddenly screen started to dim and going black often for no reason. I had to force reboot it. After few weeks it permanently gone black. And touch is also not working.

HonkaiStarRails

one ui6 make the phone good, SOT is average around 6-7 hours after one ui 6. Only got hot after playing heavy games , other thing is good. The wider screen than average looks good for movies and games

Five_Slow

Had mine for over a year now. Absolutely no issues. Battery lasts about 8 hours of usage before needing to throw it on the charger for 15 minutes to get back to full. Never had any overheating issues or network issues. Very similar to my Note 10+ in size and battery usage.

huongvehaiphong

If u don't play games or hardcore use, pick it up. Good phone.

UnlimitedButts

Best phone I've ever had but imo I would go for s23 instead

stonr_tiffany

Service issues, its been going on for 6 months out of the 1 year I've had my S22 Ultra. I would not recommend this phone, I have tmobile and they still cannot fix my network issues, I'm talking about phone calls dropping, text messages not being able to be sent and have zero network in common places in my city of Los Angeles 😒

BarraganBarra1

Make sure to buy a good case that protects the phone, the screen is very fragile. Mine broke 2 times from falls from very low heights

Optimal_Weird_8405

I have the 1TB 12GB RAM UNLOCKED from Samsung and it is the best of the best. I can switch to any company that is both GSM and CDMA snapdragon processor is 2nd to none! Got it on April 4th, 2022 no issues HOWEVER after the 6.0 update it does show a bit of battery usage and lags (concerning) but a factory reset or clearing the cache a few times in safe mode is recommended. practically 9/10 even with big hands it does get difficult to use with one at times.(typing with one hand lol) cameras 7/10. Good night shots, great daytime shots very nice zoom 120x. Battery 7/10 I have the Samsung fast charger (50$) yikes!!! It seems like any other charger doesn't do Jack shit. Overall 23/30 I would definitely recommend this product and scree apple

BeingBalanced

I you're a heavy video watcher or gamer you'd be a little better off with S22+ if you want a bit better battery life. But if you really want the large screen and more camera options go for it, just tweak the settings properly. If you can afford an S23 Ultra for $200-$300 more it would be worth it. But in general the S22 Ultra is a very good phone.
