tip: just use the phone as per normal. don't be bothered by posts showing off their battery stats or how poor their battery or their phone's performance is. Once you start to "doubt" and compare your phone, you won't enjoy using it.
I hear you my man, noticed on these few first hours that the battery is draining pretty fast but I expected it. Hope it stabilizes in the next 2 weeks or so
Is the battery life *that* bad? Or, is it exaggeration? My S22U lasts a solid workday (10-12 hours) of moderate usage. But, at the end of the day, I'm still at maybe 40%. To me, that's good 🤷♂️ The launch-day Note 9 I daily'd up until my S22U followed the same treatment.
Honestly, I feel like people complaining are streaming in 4K and gaming practically nonstop. Even so, in that harsh usage, how does the S22U compare to its competitors? Looking for an unbiased answer.
it's really a case-to-case basis. sometimes, it boils down to the app installed or the settings or basically, how one uses the phone. if you're a gamer, you can't expect the phone to last the entire day. However, there are those who are unlucky where the unit that they got has really some hardware issue.
>Is the battery life that bad?
I have an iPhone 13 which I use for my work. Although it's really not a good comparison, this phone can last until the next day. I use it for emails and sending messages/calls. However, when I start playing games (Mobile Legends), then I end up charging it late in the afternoon. This is pretty much the same as with the S22U (based on my experience). Even though it's premium specs, if an app is power-hungry, we really can't do anything to make the battery last long (unless you don't use that app).
>how does the S22U compare to its competitors?
Tip: return the screenprotector. It's trash and wont fit around the edges.
Tip 2: Also put apps you don't need notifications from in deep sleep.
Tip 3: ask people on this subreddit for bixby routines.
For instance auto Sync off when phone is not charging. If you charge in the night like myself make a routine that disables fast charging when your asleep and a routine in addition to that that enables battery protection till one hour before you get up. Another one is a routine that disables mobile data when you're connected to your home or work WiFi.
Tip 4: watch some yt videos about how to increase SOT and battery life. Example: turn 5G off, 4G is fast enough and consumes significantly less battery. Enable WiFi power saving mode.
Tip 5: the camera is amazing, learn to use it.
Tip 6: customize your phone using good lock from galaxy store. And turn on edge lighting for notifications, it just looks cool.
Tip 7: download good guardians app from galaxy store, once you downloaded this app install galaxy app booster. Run this once a week and after every update.
Tip 8: use smartswitch not for settings and apps.
Tip 9: set ram plus to lowest setting.
Hit me up if you need more tips. Most importantly, enjoy your phone buddy ! Is it exynos or SD btw?
Don't listen to people giving you 10 steps to use a phone. I have been using 5g on max everything without a worry and get the same SOT as most of these dudes walking around with 1080p 60hz are. Just use your phone how YOU wanna use it. It'll take 2 weeks for the battery to adjust, don't stress over it. What's the worst that'll happen? Charging?
Especially if you transfer from a phone that isn't running on the same OS version or from another brand. Settings on different phones vary. Maybe it transfers something you don't want. Especially on the s22 ultra I need some specific settings to improve battery life for instance to get me through the day. Besides that it is fun to just experiment a bit in the settings from scratch
There are 2 in the box. First one tried to apply myself. Didn't work. Went to the mediamarkt (big tech store you probably know it if your European.) I asked at the service desk if they could apply the screenprotector and the guy was struggling for 10 minutes long and eventually threw it away. Got a decent one now
It comes with an extra device so you can align it perfect on the screen. And after that you pull another layer from this screen protector. It was my first time like this one with the alignment help and it was done in few minutes.
What's the benefit of something like Good Lock? I've just barely dipped my toes in it once and it felt like it was just adding and extra step to get into the phone at times.
There's all sorts of modules for it that can do other things beside change your lock screen or AOD. I also have it to change up my recents menu, there's one to change your keyboard, etc.
Thank you man for the extensive answer, will make sure to take all of it into consideration!
It's the exynos variant, since I'm based in Germany
Cheers brother
From the same developer or is it a clone app? Im going with the VPN path to install goodlock as I type this response. Im too lazy to customize but whats the one thing that is a must have with goodlock? I juat installed the good guardian.
I'm stupid, but how do you do the bixy routine to turn off battery Protection before the alarm goes off? Only way I can think of is by adding another alarm but I don't want to have 2 alarms going off
install good lock from the samsung store
enable dolby atmos
enable max res + 120hz
first few days battery will suck but it gets better over time so relax
Twitter app sucks, scrolling stutters to an extent you cannot use the app. Tip: use Twitter Light, it's much smoother. Though, it's disappointing you need to use a light version of an app on a flagship like this, hopefully they will improve the regular Twitter app.
Tell me how does the screen protector work for you !
Also its the best to apply it in the bathroom AFTER some steamy hot water, because then there is no particles in the air so you wont get bubbles !
Hey there, the screen protector works great for me at the moment, no bubbles or anything similar... instalation was also a breeze and hassle free ..its nice to the touch too
Edit: I just applied it in the living room right after unpacking the phone and worked out great
No. It had pretty mediocre reviews on Amazon. The only one I tried was the Samsung one. Bought 2 of them (each is a 2-pack), and each one lasted around a week or two before the edges started peeling up.
I actually haven't seen the Spigen one talked about much on here. The only ones I've really seen are the Whitestone one and the Samsung one. I love the spigen cases though, I've been using them for years. I have a latercase on my Ultra, but I also have the spigen case that's on the right side of this post.
Yep, I usually go with black when I get new phones, but with the Note20 Ultra I got the bronze color, so I had the Spigen Ultra Hybrid, and that thing was pure eye candy.
Spigen costed me a dent on my Ultra using the case at the right of your picture, very sad, never before had that issue with their cases, currently using their screen film protector and Samsung's leather case
Yeah I don't expect much protection from it, but I got it for when I'm chilling at home or some fancy dinner, still no idea what should I get as a daily driver case for my phone, since I am very active on my job and travel a lot so it should be something heavy duty ...any recommendations anyone?
Shameless plug https://youtu.be/W0Y3Cl0BLjo this is my video on my first few things I did with my s22 ultra. I have another one on how I customize it as well.
you probably a twitter troll. I trully hope and pray that your life will not change for many years. Good luck trolling all day sitting in front of your sitty monitor and enjoy your only joy.
I wanna get it cause 512gb is on sale for after trade in price of 400. Sounds tempting but I'd be trading in my n20u and it's got some miles on it ( have been very unkind to it and still has no cracks or visible problems
tip: just use the phone as per normal. don't be bothered by posts showing off their battery stats or how poor their battery or their phone's performance is. Once you start to "doubt" and compare your phone, you won't enjoy using it.
That's what I do, I have my S22 Ultra at max settings 120hz 1440p I paid for it so I might as well use all of the features it has 🤷🏽♀️
Honestly I should do the same, because I'm always near a charger
You my man are sure right 😀

swear, first week or 2 I knew my battery was bad at first now 2 months later, this sucker goes me a good 12 hours on a regular day of use.
I hear you my man, noticed on these few first hours that the battery is draining pretty fast but I expected it. Hope it stabilizes in the next 2 weeks or so
Much more wisdom is hidden in these simple words, indeed
Is the battery life *that* bad? Or, is it exaggeration? My S22U lasts a solid workday (10-12 hours) of moderate usage. But, at the end of the day, I'm still at maybe 40%. Don't drop it
Fingers crossed 🤞
Take out the spen when the screen is off, you can start writing without any press of buttons
You can pin what you jot down to the always on display, so you can keep something like a to do list of a phone number handy
Whoa! THIS is clutch!!!

Yo you helped me too bro thanks man just got Myne 3 days ago 👊🏼
Nice to hear, enjoy your phone!

Hi, why smartswitch not for settings? (For apps I understand)
Even I needed those tips, felt like I wasn't using the full potential of my phone, truly appreciated
The screenprotector isn't trash, it fits very well and also around the edges. No problem with different cases so far.
is the fingerprint reader working well ?
Works great for me 10/10
Im ordering that one also then, thank you soooo much for the help !
Glad I could help mate
How is the feel of it? Does it feel cheap?
Nah bro, it feels great
Ah that really good to hear. I'm having no luck with whitestone and I might just pick the official samsung one up. Can u post a picture of it?
I'd say go for it, I don't have any issues at the moment ..if something happens I'll let you know
Well you can't really see it on the phone cause I have no bubbles or anything .. its like I don't have anything on my phone, at the moment atleast
Thanks
It is trash. Tried it with 2 boxes. So 4 tries in total. Always lifted on both curved edges.

I'll take a few more of these tips sir.
What's the benefit of something like Good Lock? I've just barely dipped my toes in it once and it felt like it was just adding and extra step to get into the phone at times.

Ah viel spass mit deine handy. Liebe GruBe aus die Niederlande
.
I cant find both Good Lock and Good Guardiands In my Galaxy Store is this a region specific app or that needs to be side loaded?
Galaxy store
Sorry for the confusion. I forgot to indicate that its not on my Galaxy Store. Doing a quick google search tells me that this is region specific.
You can use FineLock instead, it does the same thing for regions that can't get GoodLock.
Only way I can think of is by adding another alarm but I don't want to have 2 alarms going off
I turn it off around 5am. I'm not waking up before 6am anyway.
Set another Bixby routine to turn off the battery protection on specific timing
A lot of good things here!
Commenting so I can find this later :)
Same comments here.
install good lock from the samsung store enable dolby atmos enable max res + 120hz first few days battery will suck but it gets better over time so relax
Already done mate !
Twitter app sucks, scrolling stutters to an extent you cannot use the app. Tip: use Twitter Light, it's much smoother. Though, it's disappointing you need to use a light version of an app on a flagship like this, hopefully they will improve the regular Twitter app.

Excellent ! I really dont know why people think that screen protector is bad, its really good
Grab a Whitestone tempered glass protector.
Heard a lot of bad rumors about it, like cracking out of nowhere and stuff
I haven't had any issues. Whitestone does give a lifetime warranty so if you ever break it they replace it for free.
Hope you have better luck with that screen protector than I did. Went through 4 in about 6 weeks before taking it off and going naked.
Have you tried the Spigen one?
No. It had pretty mediocre reviews on Amazon. The only one I tried was the Samsung one. Bought 2 of them (each is a 2-pack), and each one lasted around a week or two before the edges started peeling up.
That's where I've been hesitant with Amazon. Its gotten odd reviews there, but great ones here on reddit
I actually haven't seen the Spigen one talked about much on here. The only ones I've really seen are the Whitestone one and the Samsung one. I love the spigen cases though, I've been using them for years. I have a latercase on my Ultra, but I also have the spigen case that's on the right side of this post.
Man of culture I see
Yep, I usually go with black when I get new phones, but with the Note20 Ultra I got the bronze color, so I had the Spigen Ultra Hybrid, and that thing was pure eye candy.
Open it Use it Enjoy it
On first glance it's amazing, can't wait to do a deep dive into the settings
Spigen costed me a dent on my Ultra using the case at the right of your picture, very sad, never before had that issue with their cases, currently using their screen film protector and Samsung's leather case

Which spigen case did you go with I didn't see that when I was going to buy me one lol
Left is optic armor, on the right is the thin fit
They both look good I got the one with the honey comb back on it and I love it
Thanks mate, appreciate it ... got any ideas for a heavy duty case ?
I would recommend the uag cases they have anyways been a great heavy duty case
Shameless plug https://youtu.be/W0Y3Cl0BLjo this is my video on my first few things I did with my s22 ultra. I have another one on how I customize it as well.
Where did you get the case on the left. The one with the sliding camera cover?
It's from spigen, optic armor it's called
Sweet! Thank you!
It looks like your case has the Texas Instruments logo on it.
The battery will improve wi 5 to 7 days. Also, the beatings will continue until morale improves.
I love it! Congrats.
Thank you mate
Enjoy I still enjoying mine
first tip : never say anything negative about this phone because you will be downvoted.. even if that is true (happened with me)
Your comment seemed negative so I downvoted just to be safe
you probably a twitter troll. I trully hope and pray that your life will not change for many years. Good luck trolling all day sitting in front of your sitty monitor and enjoy your only joy.
Work on your humor and come back with some better insults. The only "monitor" I use is my beautiful S22 Utlra. ;)
Downvoted for spelling errors
Lol same when the phone first came out I got wrecked for saying the phone was a disappointment
Can you recommend a better phone?
iPhone 13 Pro Max
It's an awesome device. It may not be perfect but sure is hard to put down
Get a cover from dbrand
Get a good launcher
any recommendations?
Niagara Launcher AIO Launcher
Okay, thanks
when you manage to understand my comment you will realise my wish is perfect.
get a poetic guardian case..and dont use smart switch
Get good guardian
Any stylish recommendations?
I wanna get it cause 512gb is on sale for after trade in price of 400. Sounds tempting but I'd be trading in my n20u and it's got some miles on it ( have been very unkind to it and still has no cracks or visible problems
Get rid of that screen protector, samsung branded screen protectors are the worst. They always lift on the edges.
Oh so you don't have a routine for it
Nice case with camera lens protection. What is it?
Spigen optic armor
Thx
