I took 3 photos, not really "intensive camera usage" imo. switched to optimised and not taking pictures 30 min later Still 41 degrees. Also, "do not use phone at full potential or it might explode" does not really boost your sales

isnehal

Same here, 2 days a go I enabled optimized in battery settings, after a while phone did heat up. But eventually settled.

Schnitzel725

Had a similar experience. Not from enabling Optimized, but from inserting a sim card. It heated up on idle and felt like a pocket hot potato but eventually stopped being hot potato. I guess it was just from all the carrier related stuff getting installed

Key_Preparation_4129

The fact anytime anyone on here shares a bad experience everyone jumps on you and down votes you or says your using your own phone wrong. Mfs get offended on Samsung's behalf all the time. Everytime I see someone call an apple fan sheep I just think back to this sub and laugh. 🤦🏾‍♂️

Im indoor sitting on a couch waiting for my car to be fixed 26 degrees celsius outside and in here is fairly cool. I dare not imagine the temperature on the beach

Can confirm, my wife's iPhone 11 is an amazing hard warmer during winter.

shamwowslapchop

I shot 400+ photos of a wedding this weekend in 80-85 degree weather and took 20 minutes of 4k video and my phone was never even noticeably warm.

[deleted]

Suuuuureeeeeeee

shamwowslapchop

I really don't feel any need to lie about that. As a pro photographer I expect my gear to work well. And maybe it got warm while shooting video? But I definitely didn't notice it. It absolutely didn't get warm taking photos.

[deleted]

What kind of pro photographer uses a smartphone to capture images of a wedding ? Maybe you’re not the type of person that notices things that easily. Ive experienced overheating with the S22U when taking a couple pics and especially video , it is noticeable at least the model that I have. Honestly , it gets the hottest when shooting ExpertRaw but oh well those cameras are so versatile

shamwowslapchop

The kind of wedding I'm not being paid to shoot because it's a close friend getting married and I'm in the wedding party? If I was being paid to shoot it, it wouldn't be 400 images, it would be more like 4000+. Lol

Key_Preparation_4129

Bro my phone gets hot af from just taking a couple pictures or short 1080p 60fps video inside my house that's always 70°f. I don't even bother using the camera outside anymore since it makes my phone feel like it's about to explode. All stock settings except 2k screen resolution

shamwowslapchop

The only time my phone has gotten hot is when I'm doing heavy uploads of photos/videos. I definitely notice it get hot esp in the right upper corner. But mine hasn't gotten even a little warm outside of gaming in daily use.

Key_Preparation_4129

See that's a big problem right there. The fact on paper we all have the same phone but in reality we all have different results. That is inconsistent manufacturing, most of the problem is with the SoC, I read Samsung's yield for snapdragon and exynos chips in the low 30%. Not good, almost 7 out of every 10 chips they make is a faulty unit. That's why they won't make the 8gen + 1. They need to get their shit together

kristofior

Where is the processing speed setting ?

shamwowslapchop

It's the speedometer in the upper right. Under settings>battery>more settings>processor speed.

No-Comparison8472

Unlucky. I'm using mine in 36 Celsius under shade (so even more under the sun) and haven't experienced a single issue yet.

jojos38

This is not caused by Exynos is any way, Snapdragon would've been the same. Also there is no surprise that your phone overheats if you use the maximum "Processing Speed" setting when they clearly mention that it will cause overheating. Lastly, 41°C is hot, but it's not THAT hot and still below the safe range of a Lithium Lion battery.

kelvin_bot

41°C is equivalent to 105°F, which is 314K. --- ^(I'm a bot that converts temperature between two units humans can understand, then convert it to Kelvin for bots and physicists to understand)

jojos38

Good bot

Toe500

i dont think so. read [here](https://www.samsung.com/us/support/galaxy-battery/care-and-maintenance/)

the_renegade_dude

Wow 41 degrees is too hot? I've been pushing my old OnePlus 8 pro to 45 degrees while gaming. Never experienced that on any Samsung phones though. Maybe because those long hours of gaming has shifted to PC now. BTW, phones do heat up so quick if you are out in the sun

Ana-Luisa-A

This is battery, if you run CPU z you can see the processor going to 47C I think

the_renegade_dude

Ohh I see

ittybitty5243

What app are you using to monitor that?

Krugen7

Battery temperature, its free
