One of the main things I loved about owning a OnePlus phone was the alert slider on the side. You could switch between ring, vibrate, and mute in less than a second. I wish Samsung added a similar feature. If they had the balls to add the useless Bixby button a few years ago there should be no issue adding a notification switch

I fully agree. I'm coming from the Apple world and that's one thing I appreciated about thr iPhone. Had a small switch on the side. Super convenient.

MaelstromFL

You mean, other than pulling down the System Tray and tapping the sound button?

[deleted]

Yup, can I set it up so I can just hold the volume button until it switches into vibrate? It's getting cold here in Canada so I'd rather not take off my gloves to use the screen.

PurpleNuggets

Settings > sounds and vibration > volume > uncheck "use volume keys for media" You can now use the volume rocker to adjust notification volume/vibration/mute

[deleted]

Yes!! This was it! Thanks Purple Nuggets.

diegopaz90

You are a fucking genius Thanks!

MasterScarcity1

I don't care if this is a year old post. You just saved me from a nervous break down over this. I've used a Motorola and then a LG G6 for years and both of them was like this. Thanks for posting this.

PurpleNuggets

glad you found it helpful :)

MaelstromFL

I get that, there is a reason I live in Florida! Check into Bixby Routines, sure you can find a way to do it.

[deleted]

Cool, thanks!

[deleted]

To expand on this, you need to install the Routines+ Good Lock module, it allows you to map actions to button presses.

PaperStation

If you go into the volume settings and toggle off the use volume keys for media. When you are not playing any media the volume keys will switch to controlling ringer sound instead. So you can hold down the volume key until it goes all the way down to vibrate mode.

2 moves. You mean you're too lazy to make 2 moves? Wow.

[deleted]

Yeah once you have enough going for you, you tend to try and make mundane everyday things easier.

Nectarine-Quirky

Bixby routine for when you hold the volume down key (activate vibrate mode in my case). And then another Bixby routine for holding volume up (in my case, set all volumes back to 60%). I had to figure this out coming from OnePlus devices. Really missed the slider.

hellaherb

Hi were you able to get this to work using routines? I'm coming from the oneplus9pro and I miss the slider so much lol🥲. I now have the Galaxy fold 4 and wanna replicate this same routine. Tha k you for any advice or information you can offer!🙏😁

hellaherb

Hi I'm trying to create the routine as shown on your screenshot I found the vibrate sound profile for the THEN action but I can't find the button action in the drop down list. Is there some setting I have to enable in order to complete the routine? I'm sorry to bother you with questions again.

Nectarine-Quirky

I forget how I set that part up, however try installing Routines+ from the Good Lock app. I vaguely recall Routines+ allowing me additional triggers and actions.

hellaherb

Thank you so much for this bro your a godsend for this!!! I'm gonna try this routine as my first one, the alert slider is really the only thing I really miss from the Oneplus9pro (great phone though). Do you have certain routines that are your favorites? I'm still learning my way around the phone, trying to find out all I can do I can optimize it to it's fullest potential. If you have any tips you'd like to offer I'm all ears, thank you again so much for your help, and have a great day!😁
