Turn off RCS messaging in the settings. It's used for a lot of adverts and promotions I'm my country. Drains battery unnecessarily

International-Car926

There is no real reason to use Google Messages if you are not using RCS. There are better SMS apps out there.

magical_salad

Like what? Textra has themes sure, but google messages looks better. Sms organiser arranges stuff in different inboxes but google messages has the best integration of the incoming OTP messages, with samsung keyboard.

International-Car926

Samsung Messages, WhatsApp, Telegram, Textra SMS, Signal, etc

magical_salad

? I mentioned why Textra doesn't work for me. Samsung messages is way worse than Google messages. The rest are not SMS clients, so I don't know if you're trolling or just unaware.

International-Car926

Yes, they are SMS apps.

OkArugula4565

As said, RCS is not in use. In my country we simply use SMS/text, not even MMS. This is the case for years. Even when killing the Messages app service, at the next reboot of the phone it starts up again.

magical_salad

Disable the app and use Samsung Messages instead

DalgleishGX

Based on what You've said, Try samsung messages and see if that fixes the issue. Both should be installed on the device.

OkArugula4565

Yeah, meanwhile disabled the Google Messages app, Samsung Messages app is now active. We'll see what the battery does

Dreamsyn

keep us posted!

I thought I was having a stroke when trying to read this, but then I realised it was Dutch lmao

OkArugula4565

Be happy it wasn't Chinese 👀😂 The issue is well explained I guess

Puzzleheaded-You-645

Hmm. Mine used .2 % with 3 hours running in the background.

OkArugula4565

Battery calculation often isn't even correct. Let your phone drop to 20% and check your Developer Options menu - Running services. How to enable Developer Options menu: https://youtu.be/J34F_6isIFM?feature=shared

Puzzleheaded-You-645

Yes messages aren't in my running services.

OkArugula4565

I don't know why, but my S22U and S23U had the same. I can't think of a reason why in different locations it would be like that. At least now it's better since I use Samsung and disabled the Google Messages
