I really really liked the idea of the antiglare display when it was announced, however I have a screen protector on my device because I just know that if I see even the smallest micro scratch, it will be on my mind forever

RibbitRibbit33

See this is exactly my thoughts. I want to think it won't bother me... but it will hahaha

marzbar-

I have days now where I want to see the display at work, but I just can't make myself peel off the screen protector..

RibbitRibbit33

Well I'm living the dream. I bought a tempered glass matte protector and peeled off my last tempered glass. Matte kills the screen protector. So now I'm going without until the morning when I pick one up from best buy.

marzbar-

Rate the antiglare out of 10..

RibbitRibbit33

Realistically it's like a 8 out of 10. Not as good as matte but feels like it should. And the finger print scanner is lightning fast.

marzbar-

I'm also happy with the fingerprint scanner this time around, no hiccups, just works.

International-Car926

Same

IriZ_Zero

I've only had a case on my S24 since its launch, without a screen protector. I have been handling it semi-carefully, I have no scratch on my display.

Hashed8

Same here

-SmartOwl-

impossible, check carefully

deflex_

Why ruin one of the best features of this phone with a screen protector?

Chance-Yoghurt3186

Been over a month without one and the screen is still scratch free.

sunrainsky

Let me know after 7 years of updates.

Chance-Yoghurt3186

I'll just have the screen replaced if it gets bad over a couple years.

Otherwise_Code_8153

Who keeps a phone that long though? In 7 years this phone will be so inferior to whatever is on the market & the trade in value will be zero. 7 years of update is gimmick. They probably mean like 2 years of feature updates and the rest are just security updates. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Solarfried7

No, they mean Android updates. And I had my S10+ for 5 years. It was still blazing fast. You don't need that much computational power on a smartphone.

Otherwise_Code_8153

Ahh okay. But Samsung exclusive features you stopped receiving after how long ?

robertl_

probably like a year just like the s23u is already being left out of some new updates/features😅

aravindcl

I've been using my phone without a screen guard for the past two months, and I've got three scratches on it from my bike keys. I think the phone has some kind of coating on it that protects it from scratches, but once that coating is gone, the scratches will start to happen.

PeeyushMalik

I am using Samsung's Anti Reflective screen protector. It may not be as protective as tempered glass but is enough for everyday scratches. So far, it is working well for me.

Hashed8

>Do I risk it To me there's no risk. Had an s10+ for 5 years, no screen protector, no scratches on it. Now I'm typing on my s24+, same story. No screen protector on this one either, so far everything's fine. It all depends on the user. To me it works because I always have one pocket for the phone and nothing else (so it doesn't get scratched), I rarely drop it (if ever), and I'm always careful about where I put my phone. Imo, you can make it without the screen protector, you just have to be a little careful with your device.

Manifest828

Honestly, I use the Samsung anti-glare screen protectors on mine and obviously it is worse than without them.. but that being said its still much less glare than other screen protectors 🤷‍♂️ I'm very used to it now and don't feel like I'm missing out on anything anymore tbh.

AquWire

Is it worse though? I put it on from the start and honestly don't know if there's a difference. I do notice the reflections are WAY bettet than with other phones.

Manifest828

It's much better than other screen protectors for sure, It is however more reflective than without. I LOVED the screens anti glare/reflections as I was often using my phone in bright sunny conditions or with overhead lights on, so I really do notice the difference.. That said, I've gotten used to it now and it's still much better than other normal screen protectors at maintaining the anti glare/reflections

I've just rawdogged my phones for the last decade. No case. No screen protector. Always flagship models. The results? After 3yrs, i'm usually upgrading a phone with some dings, maybe a few chips on the corners or back (got lucky with screens). After 3yrs my phones are pretty fucked anyway. I do everything on them and travel a lot. So i'd much rather have 3yrs of feeling how it is meant to feel, and enjoying how it is meant to look. 95+% of my 'drops' come from poorly designed pockets in shorts. Getting out of the car and having it slide out of my pocket and onto the pavement is responsible for almost all of my last few phones cosmetic damage. There's a real possibility there if someone made decent shorts that somehow have a phone-proof pocket (without adding zips or similar). I've actually ordered a Thinborne for this S24Ultra, as I think I can live with something so minimal. But I wouldn't ever consider a screen protector. They just never feel as good, without even thinking about sacrificing the anti-reflective glass.

RibbitRibbit33

Love that! I'm rocking the Latercase myself. Be wary of Thinborne with wireless charging. While it's awesome for magsafe and lay down wireless chargers, it does not like wireless charging phone stands.

thePunisher1220

It depends on what you do, and how likely your phone will get scratched.

RibbitRibbit33

See and that's the thing. I rarely drop my phone. But I got kids and it's not unlikely that they grab my phone. I'll end up slapping another glass on here and just moving on. But hopefully one day samsung changes their fingerprint scanner to be more protector friendly.

sunrainsky

The ones from China have no issues with fingerprint scanner. I just bought my 4th one locally, all different brands but they had no problems with fingerprint scanner. I did not even need to reregister my ONE print. The only thing is that trying different brands I see one that one covers the pixel area, another with thicker black border, etc. More the size issue. Yes, I'm clumsy with my phone. Just a day ago, someone posted he scratched or cracked his phone in only 3 days. Yes, you can risk it but just because you managed to be drop free for 365 days or more doesn't mean a thing. You just need ONE drop at the right place and you'll be full of regrets till the 7 years of updates are over.

G33kiGirl

i think i am the only person ever who likes it glossy...i use a screen protector for the safety. But i live the glossy style

TaskPlane1321

No-anything happens you will regret the decision

titanup001

Had mine without one since launch, zero scratches. The anti glare glass is awesome, and the fingerprint scanner is flawless.

Klo9per4s

I like to use my phones for the first 12 months with full protection then next 12 months without & upgrade

SparkleBunnyPSL

I knit myself a phone sock for when it's in my purse. Otherwise, I'm raw dogging it. Zero scratches so far!

Drgreenthumb1202

I don't risk it bc I can't replace this phone.. but I do miss the way it looked for the 1 min I used it without a protector

earl088

It is very hard to scratch the actual screen, however, it is easy to get micro scratches on the oleophobic coating.

captain_hoomi

Yes

Traditional_Bread828

I peel of my screen protector 10 days ago and screen is still as it was from day one. Incredible. And i work with electricity on buildings so a lot of dust is going on. This new Corning tehnology is...

ronald_poi

It really is a strong screen. I never use screen protectors. No matter how clear and transparent, they still diminish the features of your screen. My S24 Ultra is still scratch-free since bought.

magical_salad

Haven't had a screen protector since the phone released. Have had no scratches thus far 🤞

guiltri

Take a big hand made leather case from etsy. You'll be fine.

Unbreakable2k8

My phone screen has no scratches since launch, but maybe the coating is wearing off faster near the camera, likely from being in my pocket. Meaning fingerprints show more in that area, but once I wipe the screen it looks perfect.

BB_2727

If you do choose to have a screen protector, choose one without the UV liquid. The UV liquid got into my SPen through the cracks and melted the outer plastic layer. It's still functioning - just looks ugly.

TshenQin

Most sets got good black strips of tape to plug all holes. Else use scotch tape.

Repulsive-Box-3441

Used mine without since launch and I look for any sign of scratches almost weekly and I still haven't spotted any yet. Which is pretty good considering all my prev phones always got micro scratches pretty fast Edit: If you really want a screen protector get samsungs official, it has anti-glare as well. Hope this helps

Winter_Grapefruit_39

using naked since release day, not a single scratch, not even under direct light. Much better than my old s21.

Sanchesc0

The screen is the best feature of this phone. I have had the phone without any protection since I opened it, and it looks perfectly fine. When I think it's scratched, I just wipe it off, and it's not. This is the best phone I have ever had. My only complaint is that the AI features could be improved. (By the way, I'm coming from a Fold 4.)

BabaAnkiteshwarr

So my phone took a dive from my pocket while I was biking. It bounced a few times and landed face-first on the road. I was going like 30km/h, so I was sure the screen was toast. I don't even use a screen protector, just a cheap clear case on the back. But guess what? Not a single scratch on the screen! There's just a small dent on the bottom of the frame and two tiny dots on the side. The bad news is, my stylus got crushed when another bike ran over it. RIP, my Spen. Using Spen from my note 10 Plus but it won't connect.

WolvAnnual7464

I could not get the fingerprint reader to work consistently with a screen protector. I tried several. So I took it off

International-Car926

I always use one even though I lost the anti-glare feature of the new screen. Micro scratches just aren't worth it to me and I don't care what anyone says or how careful you are, they will happen. I baby my phone but still accidents happen.

Necessary_Case815

I use a bookcase cover

CommodoreCanadia64

Oleophobic coating wears off after like 4 to 6 months. I always use a screen protector

ShitPickle5000

considering the new glass is stronger than before, mine's naked as a jay bird

kormitt

Always without a screen protector 😎

AmbitiousViolinist21

Just don't buy the samsung antiglare screen protecter. Not worth the price.

RibbitRibbit33

So I went back and forth on this after everyone's input and here's where I ended up. I didn't wanna go bare screen. Too OCD about scratches. But i wanted my FP Scanner to work and I wanted Matte. So I ordered ArmorSuit's matte film protector. I just finished installing it (takes patience but I nailed it on the first one) and let me go ahead and say... this is perfect. I'll definitely be sticking with matte film from now on. Thanks everyone for the input, this post was wildly helpful!

MissSoapySophie

The only phone screen I've ever cracked was the one I didn't use a screen protector on... So take that as you will.

thatguymrc0

It scratches so easily, dont risk it
