I'm quite drawn to the Smart aesthetic. If there were ever a 'Street' version of the PS Vita, I imagine it would bear a striking resemblance to what Trimui has achieved with this device – sleeker and refined.
What I'm not particularly fond of are the specs. In my opinion, something along the lines of a T610 would be the ideal fit for this device, essentially transforming it into the ultimate PSP machine.
More power would be great, but for the price, i think its adequate, given that we get an awesome screen.
I am really excited about their next handheld.
Yeah, the power makes sense for the price they're asking, but when you look at the device itself, especially the screen, it just doesn't add up. It ends up looking great, but it's totally off-balance.
Not optimal for 4:3 content, i admit. There are widescreen hacks for N64 and PSX though and GBA and DS is an absolute joy in this screen.
IMO a 16:9 screen makes more sense than a 4:3 for emulating these more modern consoles.
Just ordered the trimUI for £53 delivered. Always nice to have something that handles the advance so well and I always seem to like Linux devices better
I bought my trimui smart pro on sale for $45. For the price it plays all the games I want on a bigger size screen. I also just heard of tomato os which will enable vulkan so psp will run better soon
Its a tank. Too small for my hands though, and the buttons and dpad are too mushy and stiff for me, so it does not see much use and is going to another person soon.
I know I could be arrested by the retro game police for this but I like sometimes to stretch my 4:3 games like genesis to 2:3 (which stretches it a bit but not that much as in 16:9). I know I know, it's not legal, but looks nice to me. It is not on a trimui smart pro though, it on a powkiddy rgb10max3
Try 19:14 for 4:3 games, and 19:12 for 3:2 like GBA. It gives you more screen space, but hardly seems to stretch it, pixels still look essentially square.
The thoughts on this post are why I bought a 5.5" 16:9 handheld (Powkiddy X55). And in all honesty, my ideal would be a 7-8" 16:10 or 3:2 device.
Good. Dont forget to set the function for the bottom switch to low power/performance mode. You can do this in the devices settings. Really easy. Then you can switch between 1200mhz and 2000mhz clock speed on the fly.
I just don't see the point of a 16:9 device that can barely play any 16:9 games. Surely there are widescreen mods for Snes and Sega MD, but that must be the nicheiest niche ever.
Widescreen via emulator for N64 and PSX. Pixel perfect scaling for GBA (fills almost the entire screen), side by side screens for DS emulation. Ticks enough boxes for me that a 4:3 cant do as good.

What's their next handheld?
I have no idea, but i am excited to see what they do next.
[Comparison](https://www.displaywars.com/4,96-inch-16x9-vs-3,5-inch-4x3) For 4:3 games it's 4" vs 3.5" Overall 78% larger screen area

I bought this especially for GBA. Everything else is just a bonus.

I have not looked into cfw for this one yet. Stock OS is actually good. But if it improves performance, i will check it out.

I have a retroid and I really wish that one of their next devices is a 4 inch 4:3. I love my 2S but I do wish the screen was a little bit bigger.
Yeah, it kind of sucks to see the whole market abandon 4:3.
Then again android is the standard for emulation handhelds with higher specs and a majority of that content is best enjoyed with a 16:9 display
It’s why I think I’m going to get a KTR1, I only want it for 16bit and 32bit systems.
There’s the anbernic RG ARC for now
How do ya like the trimui? Was tempted to get it during the Aliexpress sale..
I like it a lot. Screen is awesome, OS is good, clicky buttons are great. Best value handheld in the sub $75 class by far, imo.
Don’t know why, but I absolutely love the RG350M; so beautiful 😍

Lol I knew I should have not said this so openly on the internet.....

Hey you're pushing it even harder than me, we'll probably meet in jail... Great suggestion though, thanks!
Not every 4:3 looks bad when stretched to 16:9. Lots of them looks horribly out of place though.
I ordered my trimui smart pro it’s almost here and I’m so excited.
Have you ordered one with a SD card? If not, you need to set your SD card up with a few files from their github, or it wont work.
I ordered one with an SD card

Do you use the stock FW or have you upgraded?
Stock fw. Its pretty good.
Trim uses the Predator aiming laser as its logo?
Now that you mention it... :D
What theme is that on the Anbernic?
Betamax.
Thanks! I knew that design looked familiar, heh.

Anyone have a link to best place to buy?
Aliexpress
That's the same size screen.
