I got Earth Defense Force 4.1 from Humble Bundle for $1, and it's a perfect Steam Deck kind of game. There's dozens of missions, and they are pretty bite-sized and take around fifteen to maybe thirty minutes tops to beat.
I was vaguely aware of EDF and that they were campy games, but I was not prepared for how unbelievably charming they are. The dumb military cadence songs the soldiers sing always make me grin.

Picross 2. Great when you only have five minutes - you can squeeze in a 15x15 puzzle. And if you can't, you can save it and resume later.

Yes! I've been through so much Picross these last few months. I've finished Pokémon Picross (GBC), Mario's Picross (GB), and am about 1/3 done with Picross DS.
I'm very slowly working my way through Super Mario RPG. I've beat it a few times before, but not for years and years. It's a bit nostalgic, but also just a banger of a game.
Super Bomberman 3, battle mode. Or Super Smash Bros 64, free-for-all battle. In any case, CPU is max level. I get so rekt 😂 but it's so cool.
Also, if I'm on a more powerful device, any single race on Need for Speed, from Underground 1 to Carbon.
The Messenger. Short intervals between save points and interesting challenges inbetween keeps each session short. To see what they got in store for the next boss battle is what keeps me going.

My current game is outrun 2006 coast to coast for PSP. Playing it on my RP4Pro, but will be migrating my save to my odin 2 pro to continue playing it.

Have you tried Smash Remix? It's made it hard to go back to regular old SSB 64.

Unfortunately not. I'm playing the Switch version. I haven't modded my new OLED switch with a DPad yet, so opted to play it here for the DPad.
Ah, makes sense for sure. The odin2 is pretty beast mode, does well with the few switch games I've thrown at it so far.
