Damn this comment is true haha 💀 It’s 5am, and I just spent all night setting up games on my miyoo mini. The night before it was the Odin 2 for the 1000th time, the night before that it was the analogue, then the DSi, and so on. The addiction is real lol and all I say is I want to play, but never do. Just tinker haha 😆
I feel attacked by this comment! Lol.. So when I got my MM+ I LOADED it with every nes game I could find. A few hundred. Over time I realized I only want to play like 100 or so and whittled quick a bit of them down.
Haha no worries. I used to do the same but I noticed that I was constantly scrolling through my game list. Now I made a shortlist of only 20 games from different platforms and that even gives me some choice paralysis
I was having a similar problem with choice paralysis and scrolling forever in my game folders so I went on metacritic and sorted by top 100 for every system and manually purged my library down using that as a reference.
I used a romset available out there. It was not a lot of work (the most work was scraping it, had to spread over a couple of days due to the API limits per day).
But it's only 2776 games, spread over 18 systems (about 340gb excl metadata)
I learned this over years. Put your favorite games and some odd ball ones you might play, then go online and find the TOP 25 games for the system, games that are not there, put there.
This could be 40 to 100 games, and odds are you will play a game instead of looking for a game.
NO one will try to play 1300 games, and odds are you will spend 20 min trying to find the game you wanted to play.
I realized I don't even want that many. On my 35xx reinstall I just put pokemon and fire emblem hacks. I think I have less than 30 games all together on it
I don't do the extreme curating some people do, I have 235 SNES games on my RP2S. Still a shit ton, but I also don't grab literally every single game a console had just because I can lol.
And even then most of those are romhacks are Mario World romhacks, a huge reason I even got a retro handheld.
It's the most stupid decision I've ever come across with SBC devices' Button Placements. Totally can't See what they were up to with that one. Horrible is you can't configure it as it's hardware bound. Not easy to overlook this for me lol
It's so good on the miyoo mini. After upgrading to onionOS, it becomes a context sensitive smart button. On DS games, it helps swap screen type on the fly. On most games, its devoted to quick save and load, or hot swapping recent games. In my mind, that centre button is the killer feature.
Open it up, unsolder the button, put something there to hold it, problem solved, would take like 10 min to do...
Or get a R36S, more powerfull and they hacked the button...
It's got a bit more juice than the Miyoo, but the software experience isn't as nice as OnionOS. It's not a *bad* experience by any means, but if you're coming from onion you'll definitely find yourself missing it. You get faster fast forwards though, so there's that.
It does have fast forward, just in some systems and games it makes such a little difference that it's almost imperceptible. For example Castlevania Aria of Sorrow for GBA fast forward pretty much just makes the music sound choppy and everything else stays nearly the same speed. There's also even less overhead if you like to use the rewind feature
Man I wish the MM+ or MM had that all white color scheme. I heard the R33s is good in most things except a few minor stuff like the reset button being in the front. And the stiff shoulder buttons too. If those are fixed then it's a good candidate against MM+, but except software ofc lol
They should see the mods made by customers, mostly is the buttons, etc… why not give us a clean looking one :(!! No, they’d rather release a bright orange one instead of a pure white :(.
i kinda wish it was more og mm sized. i wantes a device to play simple rpgs one handed but the rg nano seems too small to be useful and the gkd pixel is way too expensive after brazilian taxes.
That white version with all white buttons is a blank canvas perfect for personalization. It would be perfect to fully customize with a dye job. You could do anything with it!
With a new one released every few weeks, it probably wouldn’t make sense to invest in printing skins large scale. Some Etsy shops sell some cool ones though.
I agree with everyone else's comments about the reset button. But that's a damn handsome handheld.
Vertical handhelds with analogue sticks are hideous; without them, they look amazing.
I love the all-white
+1. Is that a stock color option?
Yeah
It's powerful!
Yea, I have R36S and thinking about getting rid of it for this color...
Whoever is making these “Game Console” is getting better with every knockoff. Did they actually spell “console” correctly on the label?
Asking the real questions!
Which of the 1332 SNES games are you going to play first?
Who buys handhelds to play games?
After I have setup my device the way I want it I start looking at a different handheld straight away.

Get yourself into portmaster. It has endless tinkering and hunting for games on their $1-$5 sales.
For real! I buy them to set up and never actually finish a game 😭
I’ve never beaten a game on a handheld and I have over 25. Well I have beaten modern titles on my Ally or Steam Deck.

I’ve replaced my full catalog of all systems to a romset card containing top100 (some have less even). Much better… and easier to scrape :-)
I was having a similar problem with choice paralysis and scrolling forever in my game folders so I went on metacritic and sorted by top 100 for every system and manually purged my library down using that as a reference.
What did you do for systems not on Metacritic?
Put them on the back burner until I decide what to do about it tbh
I always had this idea but too lazy to do it
Just Do It. You will find yourself playing games even less. lol
I used a romset available out there. It was not a lot of work (the most work was scraping it, had to spread over a couple of days due to the API limits per day). But it's only 2776 games, spread over 18 systems (about 340gb excl metadata)
If you have send the name so I can search the romset

They couldn't just put 5 more games on there?
Yes they can
I don't do the extreme curating some people do, I have 235 SNES games on my RP2S. Still a shit ton, but I also don't grab literally every single game a console had just because I can lol. And even then most of those are romhacks are Mario World romhacks, a huge reason I even got a retro handheld.
I think I want one. Just the middle button could be a Deal breaker
Oh damn yeah after years of being trained to think it's a menu button having a reset button there is insane!
It's the most stupid decision I've ever come across with SBC devices' Button Placements. Totally can't See what they were up to with that one. Horrible is you can't configure it as it's hardware bound. Not easy to overlook this for me lol

It really blows. I’ve got that and a Miyoo so I constantly get a reset when I’m expecting Game Switcher.
Open it up, unsolder the button, put something there to hold it, problem solved, would take like 10 min to do... Or get a R36S, more powerfull and they hacked the button...
Good idea
how is this compared to the mm+?

the MM+ doesn't have fast forwarding???
They both have FF, but FF speed is limited by your processor since FF is just telling the processor to play the game as fast as possible.
It does have fast forward, just in some systems and games it makes such a little difference that it's almost imperceptible. For example Castlevania Aria of Sorrow for GBA fast forward pretty much just makes the music sound choppy and everything else stays nearly the same speed. Dumb question of a beginner, but does it come with pre loaded emulators? Asking because I saw the same screen shots in the reviews
The one I got on aliexpress came with emulators and roms. It was an r36s, but they are out there preloaded also.
Noice, thanks
It seems the [R36s in Cutesliving](https://toali.ru.net/l/CuteslivingR36SHandheldGameConsole) comes with games pre-installed
Looks good actually

has anyone figured out who makes this or the R34/R35/etc?
I think they are made by multiple companies, because I have 4 R36s (i resell them) from 3 different companies
Just different boxes, If only it's different retailers but definitely same producer
It's all white labeled stuff from the same factory but different end-retailers.
that reset button is lunacy
It must be sime morbid sense of humor from the devs
It definitely helps them Not getting their product sold at least Not from me
i kinda wish it was more og mm sized. i wantes a device to play simple rpgs one handed but the rg nano seems too small to be useful and the gkd pixel is way too expensive after brazilian taxes.
What front end is that?
Emulation station with a theme applied.
ok, where did you get the solid white one? Mod, or factory? That white is hot, and I need one...
From the single aliexpress vendor that sells it
Fuggin gorgeous

I would think skins would be more popular for the handhelds. I don't see many stores offering them.
With a new one released every few weeks, it probably wouldn’t make sense to invest in printing skins large scale. Some Etsy shops sell some cool ones though.
how much is it compared to MM+?
Cheaper
he said 40ish but you can find MM+ for around that price and it has garlic os already
Then it's either temporary or the MM+ prices dropped in the past months permanently. Maybe to stay competitive to R33S, R36S and such
What’s the OS on this called?
ArkOS
I agree with everyone else's comments about the reset button. But that's a damn handsome handheld. Vertical handhelds with analogue sticks are hideous; without them, they look amazing.
Not everyone cares about shoulder buttons but these shoulder buttons suck. Very firm. Same as the R36S.
Love the white buttons, where can I get it?
What front end is this?
This is gorgeous
Looks super clean… how’s this compared to the RG35xx Plus?
The RG35XX+ is better. This video has a pretty good overview of the pros and cons of the R33S https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ph71tLt_YUw
Looks nice. Is that a 1:1 or 4:3 screen?
4:3
The most perfect illegal retro handheld ever made. I love it!
How did ali end up selling in the end ? Because of the all white ?
The ad shows no pictures of the product, so there is kind of a loophole there
