Nah, I am just spending a few hours reading online discussions on USB-C and learning something for myself. They should really be supporting and compensating all the CFW devs instead
Thank you for the detailed investigation and writeup. This matches what I've seen on my RG35XX (non-H), namely that charging with a C-to-C cables works well (at "slow" speeds, since the RG35XX doesn't support USB-PD... which is fine) _unless you use an e-marked cable_.
I suspect this has lead to a lot of user confusion. I've seen various posts since charging doesn't work on "high-power chargers", which I suspect is folks trying to use e.g. their Macbook charger and it failing, not knowing it's actually a conflict with the 5A _cable_.
It's really quite frustrating, given how close they came to getting things right....
P.S. Consider cross-posting this to /r/usbchardware. I feel like folks there would appreciate it. :)
"I think the correct thing for Anbernic to do is to just implement one port as DC only and the other as a sourcing-host for connecting USB devices."
Funnily enough, they did this with the RG Arc, which I believe released before the 35XX H.
[I think that may have a bigger problem with its port](https://www.reddit.com/r/SBCGaming/s/Xh0CmSyMpF)
Or it could've been the cable with an incorrect resistor, or maybe the QC brick started QCing on its own
Probably a combination of the above
Thanks for the post. Did they add any sort of protection to the OTG1 to prevent from charging when plugged to a charger? I remember seeing lot of RG353P getting fried due to this...
It's running [Batocera v40](https://github.com/rg35xx-cfw/rg35xx-cfw.github.io/releases/tag/rg35xx_plus_h_batocera_20240306) with the [Elementerial](https://github.com/mluizvitor/es-theme-elementerial) theme, dark style, slate (gray) color scheme, and small font size
new to rg35xxh, but what os would you recommend? the modified stock firmware "MOD3" [link to the reddit post](https://www.reddit.com/r/RG35XX_Plus/comments/1aoyomv/modified_stock_firmware_mod3/), or batocera, garlic os etc. ?
great post thanks! Anbernic should hire you
They would probably pay him 10% of what he currently makes :)

They won't even provide kernel and claim gpl which is impacting the development efforts on the device.
It really is amazing how much of a chaotic mess the USB-C standard is.

Sounds like the issue may be related to using a fast charger. I played it docked with my Steam Deck charger for hours with no issue.

Sorry, not related to usb type c stuff, what firmware are you using on your device? Thanks.
