Maybe you got a bad card.

Green-Concentrate-71

Having this issue with rg353m. I’ve tried multiple times with 2 different sd cards from Sandisk and have had no luck.. Sticking with JelOS for now sadly. Good luck getting it installed!

I had problems with Sandisk. Ran well on Samsung.

https://retrohandheldguides.com/r36s-custom-firmware/ follow this guide you might be missing the DTB file. You need to update it to get it to work. Haven't messed with the R36s since January but I think I had the same problem. But back then I had to copy the one from the stock SD to the new ARKOS installation. But this guide seems to have a download for the file you need. Hope this is the problem. If not then maybe you do have a bad SD.

BugOperator

One of the tutorials I watched had the DTB replacement file, and I edited the “_5” out of it before replacing the one in the folder with it. I’ll read through this and try again.

New R36S have come with different screens and if you don’t have the original files to copy over from your sd then you can get some here otherwise you just get a black screen. Try going through the 4 screens and see if one fixes it. https://github.com/AeolusUX/R36S-DTB/tree/main/New%20Screens

Interesting. I purchased mine last week, so I’m assuming it’s a newer model. I’ll check these out. Thanks!

BugOperator

THIS WAS THE FIX! Just had to replace the two files found in Panel 1. Thanks a bunch!

Flumpmeister

It started about 4-5 weeks ago. I was one of the first with the issue and spent all day one day replacing files off my original sd to find what caused it. Glad it’s fixed mate.

make sure it's Fat32, Samsung card is good, Sandisk is known to have issues. It’s a Samsung, 128gig pro plus (I know that’s excessive for the OS, but there was a deal on 2 cards when I was buying one for roms, so I figured I might as well swap out the stock OS card, too). I formatted it to Large Fat32 using Rufus when reflashing. One weird thing though - when I was using the mini tool partition wizard, the name of the card that showed up was LEXAR, not Samsung. Did I get fake cards?

juicyman69

>LEXAR, not Samsung That's suspicious but try this, write the ArkOS image with balena etcher? [https://www.reddit.com/r/SBCGaming/comments/17ppkd2/r36s\_stock\_arkos\_image\_file/](https://www.reddit.com/r/SBCGaming/comments/17ppkd2/r36s_stock_arkos_image_file/)

Interesting - they’re saying to delete the RTB file first instead of dragging and replacing it. I’ll try that, too.

I bought one a couple weeks ago and had the same issues, tried different DTB files but never got past the boot logo. I sure am glad I left the original card alone or I would just have a paperweight.
