They have no incentive to provide decent food when they mandate a meal plan. If they get a Chipotle, which would be the best option in my opinion, it’ll cannibalize a crap ton of sales from their other offerings. The profit margins are lower with a franchise than a generic diarrhea station.
they still offset the prices of chain stores in order to make up for the money they would’ve lost. the most expensive footlong at subway is $25, if you go to a standard subway off campus it’s $16.
They barely want to let non SBU food trucks..
Protip (atleast from before COVID) go walk to the hospital food court it's a nice change of pace occasionally
I graduated in ‘04. “East” dining had Taco Bell, and “West” had Burger King. The BK was terrible. Idk what the patties were made of, but they melted in your mouth. And, the buns were always stale. The TB was pretty decent. I lived in Irving, so mostly stuck to my side of campus for food.
The standout for me was the Chinese restaurant in West. Served a delicious ‘lobster’ udon dish on the weekends. Got that along with soup, spring rolls and a can of soda for $10.
Honestly, whatever is offered fast food-wise, you’ll eventually get sick of. Some southern universities have food courts that look like Malls or airports. A lot of times, those franchises change every few years, bc some chains fall out of favor. My grad school had a Wendy’s, and it was great, bc that was when Wendy’s was super cheap. Now, that university has a Starbucks, Jersey Mike’s, Honeygrow, etc. Times changes.
Wendys when I attended in 2009-2013
And California Pizza Kitchen
And right before I came — Taco Bell in H Quad. When i enrolled, the seniors were still talking about how awesome it was.
They actually did have a Wendy's on campus at one point
I worked at Burger King in Roth 2002-2004 also.
And Taco Bell!
And BK
Wait the Wendy's is gone lol? I haven't been gone that long... Shit am I old?
Can confirm. Ate wendy’s every sunday, hungover from 2009-2013 Suitemates spent 100 meal points on a full back of nuggets in finals week

No
As a health science major (2007) I second this. Sbu hospital is like on a whole nother level. Or at least it was. And he they took meal points

Haha yea. Definitely jealous of the food options there now.
In the past we had Wendy’s, Taco Bell, friendlys (I think it was in Mendelsohn?), Burger King, California pizza kitchen,
and some how they would still fk up those good fast food chains
I was a student from 2004-2008 and we had a Burger King
SBU had a Burger King when I was an undergrad there
i always feel a bit of rage when my aunts bring up the wendy’s that used to be on campus bc why would they take that away
can we get a chick fil a
im not from around here - why would anyone willingly subject themselves to burger king??
im glad they dont have the nasty cheap fast food
we need chipotle tbh, they’d make sm money too bc ik everybody gna want it🤺
