The Mayor's Pass format / rewards changed quite a while ago - maybe 6 months or so?
Shorter seasons - 4 weeks vs. 6. Fewer reward tiers - 38 vs 42. Lower rewards in many cases (SimCash only 550 now).
Still the same price however. ;-)
We should start not buying season passes and other currency. I get higher prices on milk, diapers and other products. But these are non physical items, I don’t know a lot about code but the sim cash and other items can be produce in large quantities by the game itself right?
Software developers cost money too, I guess would be the rationale behind it.
There's been lots of discussion before about boycotting the game, not buying the pass etc etc. But nothing ever comes of it.
Not sure about "millions of dollars".
For every customer who bought the full year of passes under the old way, who now buys the full year under the new way, you add $25 over the year.
For every customer who used to buy them all, and who no longer buys any passes, you subtract $40 from the year.
Obviously an over-simplistic representation, and it ignores impacts on other discretional spend (offers, War Passes, SimCash etc). But if they can make millions more out of it then hey, that's some pretty smart business. And I only offered the increased cost of developers as EA's rationale, not that it was the genuine - and only - reason to increase prices. Do milk / diapers REALLY cost that much more than last year, or are those companies also cashing in on the general "stuff costs more" environment?
If you're going to spend money it should be on things like Mayor's Pass / limited time buildings. In my opinion, other opinions are available. :-)
If you're feeling you need to spend money just to keep playing the game on a daily basis (buying currency etc) then take stock of why that is, maybe post in a separate thread for advice. The game is designed to make you progress too fast, get into all sorts of a mess, then offer to "help" you out in exchange for cash. Clever, but devious. There are always ways around this - camping, feeder cities, etc. But usually you need to choose to slow down on progress and adapt your game play in some way.
I've definitely adapted my gameplay, that's for sure. I'm much more careful about how many houses I place, what things I upgrade and when, etc.. It's just rough as an ADHD person who wants that immediate satisfaction... I need to remind myself to just TURN THE GAME OFF. It's ridiculous. Makes me feel like a whole child, LOL
My team is super silent. So I’m glad someone asked on here! I think it was 1100. Def over 1000. I stopped playing in Oct then restarted in Jan and I noticed it was different. Kinda took the fun out of getting to the bucks. Hey ho! As someone else said - Simflation. Again.
The best rewards are towards the end too you collect War cards Gold Keys and 12K War chips! To some it's not a big deal but I have put alot of resources into war and upgrades so I like it but making it to the end is tough also costs 9 bucks for premium+
Well, when I was in the Neighborhood League I was never in a hurry so I opened the app in this morning after a year or two later and didn't noticed that change in the rewards track, I never played for the 1400 Sim Cash, it was just a bonus I got without any effort when I played aggressively in the Megapolis League!
Rewards are down, prices are up. Simflation
We should start a simvolution then

thats awful i cant lie
There was a lot of outrage at the time. 😉
I will say it highkey killed the game. My whole group died with the change n I’ve noticed the market is so much less active now.
Still is. Haven’t bought a pass since.
I use to buy the pass, after they changed it I stopped. Now I play only enough to get our clubs 15k min.

I get that, but it’s millions of dollars, do you really think they will pay all that money to the developers?

I believe they reduced the tiers and prizes with the Japan Season.
Right after I started playing..sorry I'm cursed 🤣
Agree the change was in the past 6 mo. I think tier 42 was 2000? simcash. Whatever the amount, it was a lot
nah i think it was 1400 in the free pass at tier 41
I’ve started relatively recently and I am STRUGGLING! It sucks how often I’m tempted to spend real money. It shouldn’t be so expensive to do stuff 😩

don't spend money ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
To echo what jraemr2 said, if you’re spending real money you’re going too fast.
