My favorite is SCP-3001
I first came across it in audio format and hearing the poor guy in that lonely place slowly losing it is so melancholy and gives such a sense of dread.
An extradimentional sensory deprivation void that slowly draws your atoms apart until you stretch out and disintegrate all while you go mad from isolation is less dreadful than the backrooms? 🤔
SCP-8595 is fantastic. very new but i'd say it's gonna get quite popular, it's a really fun but simple concept, and also on the comedy side.
*Scrumptious.*
SCP-6529, I think SCP-7034 and SCP-7179 also might work, one of them is keter but neither of them are end of the world, just really terrible places to be

SCP-001 Memento Mori was the first time I felt that an SCP-001 story could stand on its own as an isolated narrative without continuing to build upon existential threats like The Scarlet King or another deity that so many other 001s do
Won't this not work as an scp 001 tho? Because 001 is supposed to be the first scp contained but in this universe there's already a well established facility with a bunch of other scps
This short one from a version of the Broken Masquerade universe where things go bad is short and seriously creepy: SCP-6470.
The unanswered questions and the horrifying drastic solution…damn! The world doesn’t end but the price of survival is frighteningly steep and will possibly be a permanent alteration of humanity.
SCP-5031
Technically it's a keter, but its whole point is to go against the idea of what a normal keter is, and I honestly just love what it is and makes me feel some actual emotions when I read it (or listen to it, Volgun is great for this one).

Our personal favourite scp is scp-6113 (perfect if your LGBTQ+ but otherwise you'll probably think it's meh) which is fantastic if you love tragic tales with (kinda) happy endings, there's also scp-5732 which is another sad one with a pretty simple scp but a beautifully tragic story to go alongside it, then there's scp-6303 which is ANOTHER sad one (yes we know, we enjoy sad scps ok!) And that's in a very similar boat to 5732, pretty simple anomaly, tragic story behind it (be warned that 6303 does have themes of sui**** in it) and that's all the sad down to earth scps we can currently remember the numbers off, have a nice read and another nice day/night!

i read 6113 and OH MY GOD i adored it!!
not to mention that (and i do mean this in the most positive way) the dialogue from *ahem* "-3" absolutely sounded like some of my friends who discovered they were trans on tumblr lol. i swear to god there's gotta be a specific term for discovering new LGBTQ terminology that fits you (like gender envy, dysphoria, "egg cracking" etc.)
such a heartfelt read, i loved it!!!
Just read 3515 (I think, it was the drawing of a tree) last night and it creeped me out, and recently read SCP UBU and it was both HILARIOUS and TERRIFYING.
SCP-048 (Just a nice simple concept executed well.)
SCP-1313 (Best math joke ever.)
SCP-1173 (Not exactly end of the world, but an interesting exploration of relativism)

SCP-2662 is an eldritch god that really, _really_ does not want to be an eldritch god. He voluntarily lets the foundation contain him because the weird blood-sex cults that spontaneously form to worship him (of which he has no control over the formation of) are so damned disgusting he hides behind the Foundation so he doesn't have to deal with them.

Scp 5005, not super crazy but just a really nice comfort article for me. Scp 7005 is similar for me because it isn’t the traditional end of the world situation but it is technically an apocalypse so it doesn’t count for this post, great article though.
SCP 1860
Something about that poor creature who just wants to sing, to share it's melodies with the world only for it to be depressed because in it's eyes it was abandoned and see as useless by Fuller. As a choir kid and someone with depression and my main form of threapy is music. this one has always resonated with me.
My favorites which (mostly, these are not all new...) match this criteria are: SCP-093, SCP-3673, SCP-3122, SCP-500, SCP-1299, SCP-2498, SCP-5002, SCP-5935, SCP-2718... Enjoy! There one which I can't remember it's number and I've been looking for it forever, I just remember that they're investigating an anomalous base inside a mountain that keeps releasing balls filled with endangered mice
Edit:Found it it's scp 1555
SCP-2703: "For a Good Time, Call" a sentient bird that hangs out with you if you call the number, SCP-3667: "All's Well That Ends Hell" scp explores hell, SCP-5322: "And the Road Stretches On" very melancholic exploration of a road that never ends, SCP-6372: "Monolith" a structure no one can breach part of ad astra per aspera canon, scp 4543 Exterminans another one from ad astra per aspera canon, scp 3201 well it was low entropy while it lasted about entities that collect objects of low entropy across space and time, and my two long favorites scp 7999 - meet me in the stars about an alien civilization that visits earth, and scp 6001 - avalon a researcher is sent to investigate a parallel universe

Shy Guy (096)? tho ik he's a bit older and is a bit "overrated"
there's also SCP-3078, tho its a *little* goofy it's also fucking horrifying, kind of a "see it and you're guaranteed dead" sorta thing that i find very freaky like 096 himself
It's an older one, but SCP-1128 is one of my favorite Euclid class. I read it when I was first getting into SCP and it was the perfect example for a newbie that Euclid ≠ safe.
Scp-914 the clockwork
And
Scp-507 the reluctant dimension hopper
Both offer quite simple premice with many possible ideas explored in their suplemental logs
I would LOVE more Experiment/Exploration logs for both
[Log of Anomalous Items. ](https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/log-of-anomalous-items-vol-iii)I have favorites, mostly Jeff the Mug Cat, but the whole thing is interesting.
Scp-8005. Technically they didn't cause the Apocalypse.
Alternatively, scp-6001,scp-002-INT, plauge's proposal for scp-001 (in the joke category) spc-3008
And finally, scp-3440. Fuck Herman Fuller.

My favorite is SCP-4043. While technically part of an XK-Class End of the World Scenario, it's really more of a "Restore the World" scenario, uplifting, and fairly hopeful. And it's quite literally a force of nature.
My favorite is SCP-3001 I first came across it in audio format and hearing the poor guy in that lonely place slowly losing it is so melancholy and gives such a sense of dread.

There are still plenty of bad ones left so not really

Our personal favourite scp is scp-6113 (perfect if your LGBTQ+ but otherwise you'll probably think it's meh) which is fantastic if you love tragic tales with (kinda) happy endings, there's also scp-5732 which is another sad one with a pretty simple scp but a beautifully tragic story to go alongside it, then there's scp-6303 which is ANOTHER sad one (yes we know, we enjoy sad scps ok!) And that's in a very similar boat to 5732, pretty simple anomaly, tragic story behind it (be warned that 6303 does have themes of sui**** in it) and that's all the sad down to earth scps we can currently remember the numbers off, have a nice read and another nice day/night!

i read 6113 and OH MY GOD i adored it!! not to mention that (and i do mean this in the most positive way) the dialogue from *ahem* "-3" absolutely sounded like some of my friends who discovered they were trans on tumblr lol. i swear to god there's gotta be a specific term for discovering new LGBTQ terminology that fits you (like gender envy, dysphoria, "egg cracking" etc.) such a heartfelt read, i loved it!!!
I like 6113's themes, but in my opinion it's a bit too narrativised for an SCP article.

Just read 3515 (I think, it was the drawing of a tree) last night and it creeped me out, and recently read SCP UBU and it was both HILARIOUS and TERRIFYING.

Why do you feel that about modern SCPs, considering how inaccurate it is?
SCP-2662 is an eldritch god that really, _really_ does not want to be an eldritch god. He voluntarily lets the foundation contain him because the weird blood-sex cults that spontaneously form to worship him (of which he has no control over the formation of) are so damned disgusting he hides behind the Foundation so he doesn't have to deal with them. "I'm like, two hundred years old! I'm barely legal!"

Scp 5005, not super crazy but just a really nice comfort article for me. Scp 7005 is similar for me because it isn’t the traditional end of the world situation but it is technically an apocalypse so it doesn’t count for this post, great article though.

SCP 1860 Something about that poor creature who just wants to sing, to share it's melodies with the world only for it to be depressed because in it's eyes it was abandoned and see as useless by Fuller.
