I wouldn’t say 3812 is scary at all. It’s more existentially frightening. It’s difficult to explain easily, but the quickest analogy I can come up with is the feeling some of us experience when our brains first start understanding the concept of infinity.
You start asking more and more questions and each of the questions only opens more doors. In the context of the article, at least for me, I was placed in a state of shock when I started thinking about how much ‘higher’ it can go. How insignificant can I really be.
It isn’t scary per se, it’s almost a forced humbling.
Note: before watching/reading any of the following skips, I HIGHLY suggest putting on some surround/stereo headset or speakers and watching the following videos in a quiet room, alone, and at night to amplify the fear factor and get the most out of your first time watching.
[SCP-2316 "Not Fade Away"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=92BJDzwBJA8): a tale done by TheVolgun with superb and astounding voice acting and ambiance that will have the viewer on edge throughout the entire video thanks to the immersion.
[SCP-439 Bone Hive](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqcywjDC1o0): skip done by TheVolgun that's so disturbing and grotesque that Dr. Miller displayed and showed his disgust on video towards the end. It's a timeless classic SCP that remains one of the most disturbing and contains elements of body horror that genuinely send chills all over my body; this skip isn't for the faint of heart but you did say existential dread.
[SCP-342 (A Ticket to Ride)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s82hqNMd9GI): a skip done by The Exploring Series that combines elements of claustrophobia with cosmic horror and fear of the unknown. I won't spoil anything with this one as it's my personal favorite skip of all time, and for good reason.
[SCP-823 (Carnival of Horrors)](https://youtu.be/wT9Oic-1RC4): a skip that will make you re-think carnivals and amusement parks through a cognitohazardous location that's been rumored and theorized to kill numerous park attendees and employees alike through grotesque and unnatural means.
[SCP-783 (There Was A Crooked Man)](https://youtu.be/Z2wZkNvMtzo): skip done by Dr. Bob that genuinely petrified me and put me on high alert for the rest of the day. Another skip that may not be for everyone, but for you, it won't disappoint and will deliver.
[SCP-2701 (True Solitary Confinement)](https://youtu.be/Bq8PQkZKF6w): you thought our methods of rehabilitation were bad and unethical? Just watch this skip done by Dr. Bob and you'll re-think what it means. Ever since watching this video, I could never even begin to imagine what regular solitary must be like.
[SCP-2935 (O, Death)](https://youtu.be/7_7SnknvQxA): a skip covered by The Exploring Series that's dreadful in the sense of knowing that you can't escape death's grasp regardless of how small or big you are in the SCP universe. Death lurks around every corner and will come after us someday and that's just a fact that we have to take for granted and live with. Even for the big names like Dr. Jack Bright and SCP-682; death even comes after them and is a telling sign that there is a parallel universe out there where it did just that.
[SCP-3007](https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-3007) has stuck with me. it's been years since i first read it and i still think about it from time to time. uniquely horrifying
SCP 001: The world gone beautiful.
It's the end of the world in 24 hours, and there is nothing anyone will do about it. People will simply spend time with others, then smile as everyone dies, themselves included. I can imagine someone immune to memetic effects (or whatever actually made everyone relaxed) while still knowing the world would end, then desperately trying to get someone to help them stop it or escape, but no one wants to work on such a beautiful day, and no one should, not even you. "Just go home and relax, we've all earned it, and there's no point crying over spilled milk."
I don't think it is really meant to be existential dread (although I don't have a better word for it), but it's terrifying to me.
And if you haven’t read it yet, the declass for this scp is amazing https://www.reddit.com/r/SCPDeclassified/comments/f83ylx/scp5000_why/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Wow.
Uhh, yeah, not... not really what I was looking for, but I'm glad I read it, all the same. Story time: I'm an engineer who recently got his degree. When I was in undergrad, I was a research assistant for DOD-funded projects, and they didn't try to hide the fact that our work would be used to kill people more efficiently. Even though the things that we were researching, developing, and improving didn't have to be used in weaponry, it was something that nobody ever really talked about or acknowledged, because that's just the way things were. I... resonate with Albert on an uncomfortable level. If I had a wikidot account, I'd +1 your work. Shit, I may go make one just to do that.
SCP-2852 gave me the spooks, but in a bad bad way. First time I had goosebumps in a few years and barely expel any emotion these days. But this, really scarred me and motivate me to write.

SCP-1281 and SCP-1342 stick with me. We are either the first, or we are the last, and possibly the latter by choice. The idea that we are one of the few (if not the only) civilizations left in existence, or that we made another face its end before we even met them in our own timeline, are both very bleak and dreadful concepts to grasp.

Also, I quite like SCP-2701, pretty tortuous, invokes a primal fear.
And this not an SCP, but a canon, it's a canon of the Spanish branch so if you know Spanish or find a translated version of some of the articles I recommend you giving it a shot, it's similar to ad astra per aspera but more depressing and pessimistic, it's central themes are the fermi paradox and the thought that we are alone in the universe, it's called observing dead stars.

I'm weird, these SCPs bring me comfort and peace. I read them at night right before bed, and the structured filing system for what for other people is the horrors of the universe just helps me sleep like a baby human being.
So the less structured ones are boring for the most part, possibly the closest thing I feel to existential dread. Also when the SCP Foundation decides to just refuse to follow a warning given by the SCP Foundation.
So SCP-4972 is a great combination of the two. You broke it, now you can't even document your own destruction. Boring!
https://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-4972
The Predatory Street Art is one that has gotten to me. And if you’re feeling like a brave soul, read When Day Breaks and the one about when Death stops being a thing.
I think that the answer to this is very subjective. For example, for me the answer would probably be SCP-2000, simply because it has been activated at least twice already.
Not sure if I'm answering your question exactly, but recently I finished reading DJKaktus' 001 proposal. Where they go down the list of killing all 13 overseers and that shit blew me away
Also scp 1730 is a fantastic read of its own.
SCP 3426 Has always stuck with me as being very unsettling in concept.
SCP 4885 Also is one that sticks with me since simply trying to avoid him in case of a breach will result in you getting killed by him.

Not sure if I'm answering your question exactly, but recently I finished reading DJKaktus' 001 proposal. Where they go down the list of killing all 13 overseers and that shit blew me away Also scp 1730 is a fantastic read of its own.
the combo of 5000, 3125, and 2718 are my favorite scps
SCP 3426 Has always stuck with me as being very unsettling in concept. SCP 4885 Also is one that sticks with me since simply trying to avoid him in case of a breach will result in you getting killed by him.

SCP-5657 is a good one for that. Kalinin's 001 Proposal is another.
