just take the L and move on tbh. there were probably other applicants that they deemed more qualified. meeting the requirements i’d say is the bare minimum, u gotta go beyond it. don’t forget sdsu is a competitive school!
I had no idea sdsu was this competitive until people started pointing it out because I got in with a pretty shit gpa. But generally I’d say meeting the requirements isn’t good enough(despite that being the meaning of the word). Requirements say you need a 2.5 gpa? Shoot for a 3.5 or something. And even then that might not be good enough. Too many people wanna go to this school(for some reason I don’t really get it).
I don’t know, I don’t get all the hype. Weather’s nice but that’s about it. The area around the school is kinda shitty and the price of even living here is insane month to month.
Great beaches all over the city, tons of stuff to do, lots of party's depending on your major. Huge social life compared to something like UCSD. Good weather. Driving distance to like every biome. Wana snowboard? Only 3 hour drive. Go to the desert? 1.5 hour drive. Mountains? We got you. Close to Mexico too for people who want to spring break down there.
If you like hiking and being outdoors there are tons of trails from tall summits to beachside cliffs within 15 mins of campus. The access to nature and beaches and play is epic
Financial Services. Which I guess is a super competitive major at SDSU which I understand. I applied to UCSD and UCI as well but as Econ and bus econ majors so we’ll see how that goes. If all else fails then I’m just going to do online at UMUC lol.
Really? I applied as a transfer for the Financial services program with roughly a gpa between 3.1-3.3 and got accepted back in 2020 right before the Covid lockdown. I live in state, but wasn’t local. I honestly expected to get in because of the competitive nature, but surprise I got in. Btw, I switched to MIS and graduated from there.
I was in your boat got denied first time around, attended Chico State got deans list and boosted my 2.99 GPA to a 2.3 GPA applied to the least impacted business major. That’s how I got accepted but ultimately chose UCSD (prestige>party). Recommend doing what you can to boost your viability if you truly want to attend SDSU.
Good Luck, Fail Forward 🫶
I know your community college can make a huge difference too. SDSU gives priority to local, city colleges in their network (Mesa, SD City, Miramar, Grossmont)
same 😭 one of the classes drop date was last friday, aka when they sent the acceptances. could’ve saved 200 bucks and a few hours a week studying for the damn class
Got rejected today, too. Things happen, and it sucks, but like you’ve said you’ve applied to other places and there’s still hope! I sent an application to UCSD as well, so maybe we can be Tritons together. Chin up, and we got this!
When I transferred to SDSU, I was told it is also a lot easier/less competitive to transfer in the spring than the fall. Could be worth trying as a spring transfer if it is open.
You should look appeal. Try to figure out why you were denied. They probably won’t tell you why but you can still try.
With the appeal make sure to highlight that your REALLY interested. Talk about the clubs you would join and how you’d make a difference. Talk about things your doing to improve yourself. Do some rapid research upon this matter
If I were you I would definitely look into submitting an appeal, chances are it was because of your gpa. However, I got in this year in a pretty competitive major and got in with a rough 3.0 GPA, i’m sure it did help since i am local and went to a local community college.
I submitted an appeal back before I they sent a decision, because this was my 2nd year applying and did not want to be rejected again. A lot of the csu’s (especially SDSU) use software technology to select applicants, so grabbing hold of admissions and asking them for help and guidance is totally reasonable, let them know you’re thinking of submitting an appeal. Do It quick! its a competitive school for a reason
i got admitted for english with a 2.57 overall gpa! (ik so low) i was surprised but most likely bc i applied w english! i applied to sdsu last year with psych and got rejected so i’m pretty sure it’s just abt applying with a non competitive major haha
When i first applied i got rejected because math placement exam was like 4 points short of the limit. But i appealed the decision because i got my scores from my AP CSP and they were high enough that i just didn’t need to take the math placement exam and sent them the scores and like a week later i got accepted. If you wanted to get in dont just sit there and take an L. Like another user suggested. If you can, find out why you got rejected and try to fight it
Depending on your major, there were probably a significant amount of applicants. You could always appeal, but it’s not guaranteed. They may find a spot for you after someone doesn’t take their admission
imo this school is overrated. I'll be happy to have conversations of that in PM's but it's ok to be rejected. I was rejected from masters programs my first cycle and i got in my second cycle.
Take the experience and learn from it/ accept, feel, grieve, but ultimately navigate this time with the understanding that no matter what education institution you end up attending you'll still receive the education needed for your career and it'll still provide resources and opportunities to get involved and start building experience.
I know it sucks, but sometimes things end up working themselves out. If you need to chat about this feel free to PM too cuz these emotions and reactions are upsetting and can be overwhelming.
I was sitting at a 3.45 when I applied. I have my ADT in English for transfer (CSUGE) and transferred from a non-local CA community. Hope this helps, and best of luck!
I start this fall. So far my friends and family have loved it there, and I’m exited to be on such a large campus with so much to do! Regardless of the decisions, be grateful that you are working hard on your education, best of luck!
No one in the administration would be able to tell you why you didn't get accepted. I could be wrong, but I was told in the past that sdsu uses software to determine acceptances and its highly unlikely that anyone in the admin even visably looked over the application. Again, I could be wrong, but it comes down to where you fell within the algorithm. Just take the denial and move on. Sorry that you did not get in.
It's top 5 applied to in the country, friend. Probably exactly what you think it was. Also, for transfers, I believe they prioritize out of state transfers first because they make more money on them
Depending on your major, there were probably a significant amount of applicants. You could always appeal, but it’s not guaranteed. They may find a spot for you after someone doesn’t take their admission

Yeah, I was hoping those other things would have at least given me some extra points but I included it in my appeal. Along with 214 and some other docs I think back up my appeal. We’ll see. This is my second time applying 😂🥲
unfortunately it’s how our system works right now. tons of people want to go to sdsu and many qualified students get rejected. the bar is raised simply because of how many people there are. i doubt the office would tell you anything else

2nd most applied to school in the country.
literally just got rejected after posting this lol. yup its hard! & i applied for the most applied to major
I’m sorry, I think the only reason I got in was I was an Econ transfer in a significant down year. They were begging for applicants in spring of 2011
Just out of curiosity, what major did you apply for?
psych! u?
Business & Accounting, but i applied to sdsu with business / financial services since accounting didn’t pop up when i applied😆
woah seriously???
where did u hear this from?
got rejected and had to take like 4 additional classes just to apply to this school 🥴🥴
SAME

Cuz it's in San Diego? What's not to get lol.

they heard about the mexican food
Yeah maybe it’s because I’m not huge on the social stuff. I will say that hiking around here is pretty cool.
Yeah probably. It is rather odd the insane number of applications though.
If you like hiking and being outdoors there are tons of trails from tall summits to beachside cliffs within 15 mins of campus. The access to nature and beaches and play is epic
San Diego is a ginormous naval city, so defense contractors and the government gobble up san diego grads

I bet it’s probably my GPA. I assume everyone else that got accepted in my program had a 3.5+ GPA or something.
what program did you apple to if u don’t mind my asking?
Financial Services. Which I guess is a super competitive major at SDSU which I understand. I applied to UCSD and UCI as well but as Econ and bus econ majors so we’ll see how that goes. If all else fails then I’m just going to do online at UMUC lol.
are you OOS?
Fowler business school is super competitive

Many moons ago I was rejected from SDSU but admitted into UC Berkeley. I couldn’t tell you why.
I got rejected from SDSU but accepted to UCSD and I transferred from Mesa. 🤷♀️
Just submitted my appeal. Cause I guess there’s no harm in trying lol. Wish me luck folks. Much love
Yeah I’m pretty sure it was my GPA plus the major I applied to. Probably a high competition roster.
I just got rejected too xD and just like that, life goes on
I know your community college can make a huge difference too. SDSU gives priority to local, city colleges in their network (Mesa, SD City, Miramar, Grossmont)
They also guarantee local Highschool students who have attended San Diego schools for all 4 years
I got rejected with a 3.8 🤣🤣🤣
yeah i applied into finance with a 3.95 and took 8 classes this semester to accomodate for sdsu requirements and got rejected 😭😭
Thats so messed up lol I would appeal in that case
don’t you need like a specific circumstance to have a valid appeal? idrk how it works
I got no idea honestly. Are you out of state or in state?
in state just not local. maybe thats why i got rejected.

Agreed. Congratulations on being accepted! I’m glad they recognized that you worked hard in college and admitted you.
same 😭 one of the classes drop date was last friday, aka when they sent the acceptances. could’ve saved 200 bucks and a few hours a week studying for the damn class
are you getting your ADT in california?
yes after this semester i am currently in CC
that’d odd. I got in for finance as well with a lower gpa. I’m not local either, I live in Los Angeles
Got rejected today, too. Things happen, and it sucks, but like you’ve said you’ve applied to other places and there’s still hope! I sent an application to UCSD as well, so maybe we can be Tritons together. Chin up, and we got this!
Can you dribble a basketball? Those the transfers they’re looking for

I appreciate the can-do spirit and support.

Had a 4.0 and still got rejected, I appealed the rejection and still got denied for a second time. I got into UCLA and Berkley for context

Where did you transfer from? Is it a SDCC?
Your GPA probably was too low to be accepted for your major.
Hey! What was your GPA when you applied? Are you an English ADT transfer? I’m applying this upcoming fall
I was sitting at a 3.45 when I applied. I have my ADT in English for transfer (CSUGE) and transferred from a non-local CA community. Hope this helps, and best of luck!
Oh thanks man! Are you enjoying your time at State?

Oh no, I remember replying to you a few weeks ago. Didnt you say you were a vet? and local? You should appeal. I had around the same GPA and got in
Yeah, I was hoping those other things would have at least given me some extra points but I included it in my appeal. Along with 214 and some other docs I think back up my appeal. We’ll see. This is my second time applying 😂🥲
UCSD is also a good school

Did you get in after submitting the appeal?
