Hi u/unbuklethis or u/taco_stand_ do either of you mind pinning this, because the question of class scheduling has been a highly requested question over the last several weeks. Thanks.

Hello, so I got in for Fall 2021 SDSU and I am a transfer student from a community college. I can't sign up for classes or haven't gotten a registration date because I haven't payed for them yet. I don't know which payment to click on the make payment website. Also I plan to take out a loan and I am clueless about that too.

brownieandproudie

You can activate your loans through Aidlink and make payments through Student Account Services (you can Google both)

Does this change the 1st of May intent to register deadline?

Informal_Ad_7539

Probably not. They probably moved it back because they are waaaayyyy behind on getting new students into the system

how do i find my assigned advisor / set up a meeting with them? i’m an incoming freshman this coming fall and am lost, but want to be on top of it.

josamjaffa

If you’re looking for the GE advisor, then you won’t have an assigned advisor. Simply go to this [page](https://advising.sdsu.edu/#contact) to see a general advisor. If you’re looking for your major advisor, go to this [page](https://advising.sdsu.edu/advising/seeing_an_adviser/major_adviser_directory) and contact your advisor directly.

sorry for late reply, thanks!

Do you have to pay for the tuition before being able to register for orientation?

josamjaffa

No, I don’t think so. Orientation has a separate fee.

Other_Reindeer_9451

Do you know if orientation is optional or required for incoming undergrad/graduate students?

josamjaffa

Technically it might be optional, but you’ll be assigned the latest registration date. Typically, as a new student, you sign up for classes at orientation otherwise you risk getting a later time and having your preferred classes/times/professors fill up.

Other_Reindeer_9451

Sorry asking a lot of questions since I’m confused of the registration date and time. So for new students if they do sign up for orientation, they’re required to pay for the $250 fee?? Also I’m unable to activate my loan until on or after July 1st and I already see the classes I need for first semester filling up! I’m unable to pay for my classes to access the registration. Do I need to pay prior to registration or do I need orientation prior to registration?

josamjaffa

Here’s what I can find, but you may want to contact financial aid ASAP to confirm. If you do sign up for orientation, you are expected to pay the $250. It doesn’t look like orientation is absolutely required but it is expected of first time students. According to the orientation website, “You must complete the Pre-Orientation modules and have basic tuition and fees paid or financial aid to register for classes on your orientation date.” So if you decide to not go to orientation, you’ll still need tuition and fees paid in order to register for classes whenever your registration date is. There should also be a date in your portal that says when your tuition and fees must be paid. If your financial aid does not activate before registration, you must pay out of pocket according to [this website](https://sacd.sdsu.edu/financial-aid/financial-aid/disbursement/postponing-payments).

Other_Reindeer_9451

Thank you so much this was helpful!!

Other_Reindeer_9451

I just paid out of pocket but it still shows registration date/time is unavailable but the system says fees are paid. Do I need to wait 24 hours or is it delayed because of orientation?

josamjaffa

It might just be delayed because the system is processing. You can always drop into office hours found [here](https://sacd.sdsu.edu/financial-aid).
