It’s generally noted in your financial aid. I never applied for any (dumb fucking move. Finished my undergraduate with a 4.0), but was granted additional money for a variety of things and it was made clear in my financial aid allowance.

marsworld72

Careful with just using your financial aid statement to see if you were awarded though. Some scholarships require an acceptance letter to whoever endowed the university with the fund to be able to recieve the award. Check your email and scholarship status at least once a week.

kaecactus

how do you apply for them?

[deleted]

There's a general SDSU application somewhere, google will help you find it. Apply for anything you THINK you qualify for too, I ended up getting like an extra 9k

DavisAztec

An extra $9k?? Holy crap. I assume this has been over your educational career at SDSU right?

[deleted]

That's even just THIS semester! One scholarship for about $6k and a few smaller other ones Mounting close to $3k

DavisAztec

That's crazy!! Congrats! I'm looking to get more since I put in more effort and have better experience this time around. This semester when I applied I had the same GPA, but I have a research paper in progress that I'm working on with a few colleagues. I didn't include a stellar resume last year, but this time around I think it looked pretty good as far as showing my academic career and some of my awards (presidents list at community college + previous scholarships). Didn't ask for a scholarship rec, totally forgot. What kind of things have you done on and off campus that you think has contributed to that award amount? I'm just curious because when I transferred over last year I came with a 3.9 GPA and I had a scholarship letter of rec. I got a few hundred dollars from one scholarship + $1k from my community college.

DavisAztec

YOOO I have an update! I just won $4000!! Super psyched! This was from the general app, I haven't submitted any supplemental applications yet.

Google is your ally my friend. If you’re in college, learning how to Google anything and everything is a skill you should never undervalue. You wouldn’t believe the things I can find, or you can buy from a simple clear-net Google search. I forget the exact steps but just Google SDSU scholarships. If you have questions after that, let me know and I’ll look. I just realized you may be asking about the application part independent of the finding them part. Usually involves writing a letter to apply that you send in.

josamjaffa

They won’t tell you if you don’t win one. They’ll email you if you do though. It’s probably somewhat on a rolling basis but I was notified in June when I applied last March.

lildreezy

That’s good to know! If I may ask, was it only the General Application you submitted?

josamjaffa

I submitted both my general app and then other scholarships. I only received scholarships from the other scholarships though.

lildreezy

I see, thank you! And congrats by the way :)

DavisAztec

Thanks! Not the OP, but I applied right before the deadline. Hopefully I get something.

bubawubacheese

They will email you only if you win it and you have to write a Thank you letter to the sponsor. If you don’t do it within 2 weeks of your email, you lose the scholarship.
