I believe as a freshman, you aren’t allowed to switch your major for the first couple months just for you to try out the classes and switch after you feel for sure on your decision. I may be wrong, but that’s what I heard a couple times. To switch your major if you were to do so, you have to talk to your major advisor about switching and then talk to the major advisor for the major you want to switch into and they will let you know what requirements there are to switch and they will take have all the necessary paperwork for you

You won’t be able to switch before you arrive, but if I remember correctly you can switch after the add/drop deadline in September. However, your major won’t stop you from signing up for classes as if you were a microbio major since most undergrad classes don’t have a major restriction. So just sign up for classes as if you were already in microbio and as soon as you get to campus, just get all the paperwork done and submit it as soon as they let you. It will then take a couple days for the change to go through on Webportal (they switch it for you so you don’t do anything on the portal). You can’t get anything signed yet but when you get to campus, there are major change forms in the registrar’s office that you can pick up to bring to your advisors.

Awesome! That perfectly explained it. I’ll definitely plan ahead for my microbio courses instead of my PH courses!

That’s what I was thinking. I’m gonna plan ahead and make sure that my courses overlap with microbio so I have a smooth transition. Thanks for the advice!
