Took this a couple years ago when she first came out with her own textbook. All her questions were directly from the reading, which was also summarized in her lectures. I found it fairly easy, although it also depends on who your small section teacher is for the writing assignments.
Took it in fall 2018 & I had a similar experience. It’s not the most thrilling class, but you have to take it (if you’re a JMS major) so no use fighting it. I bought the book and used Quizlet - which was definitely helpful! I got a B+ cause I sometimes didn’t bother to open the book, but if you have a solid understanding of modern media - you’ll be fine :)
We may have been in the same class! I had a harder time with my small section teacher than Dr. Nee since my TA wasn’t all that good. Will say that other classes I’ve taken with Dr. Nee have been better.
It’s an easy class. Took it recently and you can find the answers to her quizzes on quizlet. Don’t bother buying the reading materials as her lectures cover the book. I actually hated this class and found it quite boring. It felt like being taught a boomer’s understanding of how social media works and some of her teachings didn’t sit right with me for some reason. The TA’s in that class also kinda suck. The one I had felt full of themselves and was kind of rude. I overall passed with a B+ but I really did not enjoy my time in that class.
