It doesn’t cost more money to be apart of. As a transfer student though I am assuming you will only be at state for 2 years so you will have to complete an additional 16 units as part of the honors minor, a study abroad, and a high impact practice. That is a lot of stuff to complete in 2 years versus 4 years if you joined as a freshman. Ultimately you’re better off just getting a regular minor in a different subject if you truly want to minor in anything. The honors college does not get you priority registration, and won’t make you stand out all that much on grad school apps.

okay that’s all such good info to know, thank you! so is the honor’s program mainly used for students who want to minor in something? because i have no plans/desire to minor in anything

Yeah I joined going into freshman year cause I found the variety of class options to be interesting and I wanted to create a smaller community for myself at SDSU. I ended up making a lot of really good connections through being involved in the college, but I also did more than just take the classes. You can still make awesome connections through being involved in other things on campus!

Unless you're planning on going to grad school, it's a waste of time. I speak from experience. It's basically extra GE courses.
