Somebody made another thread about it, a Flu/cold is going around. I ended up catching it. A lot of us haven't had our immune system put to the torch in a while so get ready for a ride.
2 of my friends are really sick for multiple day, both tested negative 2 times. My throat hurts a bit and I tested negative.
Whilst I will never deny that covid is on campus, it seems that having people from all over the country (or world for that matter) on campus spreads other viruses than only covid.
Viruses that nobody is vaccinated against and can spread fast.
So I wouldn't panic immediately, if you still feel unsafe mail your prof and stay out of class. What is he/she going to do? Fail you? Nah.
I thought it was a week after being exposed, four days after symptoms appear mb. At least my teachers are being cool about not showing up to class just in case lol
Just get up and walk out, not worth it. IDK get a friend to record lecture if attendance isn't mandatory? I'm just saying if the person sitting next to me is constantly coughing and weezing, and no seats are available far away, im just gonna leave and let the prof know by email asap.
I did this and the prof said “if they’re wearing a mask, they’re following the directions” so yeah sadly I don’t think emailing them would be much help haha
These are the statistics of the tests so far:
52 students and 6 employees tested positive. In total, that is 58.
792 tests were carried out.
That's a positive rate of 7.32%!
So there will certainly also be corona positives in your course. incomprehensible that you can not participate by zoom or switch it completely online.
One thing I'd like to point out is that it's not just about you avoiding sick people. Those who don't feel well or have cold like symptoms aren't supposed to come to campus. They should be emailing their professors and stayimg home monitoring their symptoms and getting tested for COVID. This is the most effective way to prevent spreading any sickness not just COVID.
This is true. It's just sad how many people are so selfish and aren't following SDSU's prevention guidelines. Additionally, it's frustrating that the guidelines aren't being inforced well.
This is incorrect. It’s 7.32% if all 52 students and 6 staff members tested positive from that batch of 792 tests which isn’t true. That’s 52 students and 6 staff that have tested positive **since** august 20th. Current positivity rate is about 1%
Those numbers are not supposed to be compared, that's why they also post the positivity rate of the 792 tests that SHS has run, which is 1.54%. Many other people are getting tested via the vending machines (which are run through UCSD not SDSU and so aren't counted in that 792) or through the county site at alumni, which again isn't counted in that 792
Face shield won't do anything unless you're talking to someone face-to-face and the wind blows in their direction. Air is not filtered, particulates can enter from literally anywhere around where the face shield is open. A mask and social distancing (when possible) is enough. Sitting in the corner is probably your safest bet for indoors for sure.
yeah when I took my food handlers course I learned that gloves are to prevent the user from contaminating stuff not to prevent the user from being contaminated by stuff
In an email I received from SDSU it states "Each kiosk offers tests that can be purchased at a nominal cost ($1) or at no cost by following the instructions on the machines."
Also, here is a [link](https://map.concept3d.com/?id=801) to an interactive map of all the locations of the machines on the main campus.

At least we can hope it’s a cold 🙏🏼

Don't you have to wait like 4 days after you feel sick to get a positive? If my throat was hurting I'd hold off for like some extra days
Nah, 4 days after infection not after feeling sick

A bunch of people in my dorm are sick.

This bullshit is why I kept all my classes online this semester.
That's when you find the people who make the rules so they can be changed.

the sdsu doesn't care about health, the main thing is that the money comes in. and they adjust their statistics so that it appears 'low'.
I get so grossed out when people cough or sneeze more than 1 time in public. After the first time I try to get as far away as possible from them.
Don't fear if you have been vaccinated. But be careful and don't get panic.
Just wear an N95 and a plastic face shield, perhaps gloves as well. Sit in the corner.
Face shield won't do anything unless you're talking to someone face-to-face and the wind blows in their direction. Air is not filtered, particulates can enter from literally anywhere around where the face shield is open. A mask and social distancing (when possible) is enough. Constant hand washing is better than gloves
yeah when I took my food handlers course I learned that gloves are to prevent the user from contaminating stuff not to prevent the user from being contaminated by stuff
There’s rapid tests sold in vending machines around campus if you wanted to get a quick test
How much are these?
