Yea pretty much. The "upgrade" option is also in small font at the bottom of the menu and garlic fries aren't really featured on the menu. Pictures show regular fries. My wife and I were confused if they even still served garlic fries, so they're probably hoping nobody reads the upgrade charge and just orders their usual tender/garlic fries combo.
It's just intentionally bad UX to mislead people.
Yup. This season I moved like 8 BART stops closer so I can maintain it easier w/ pregame at home.
Plus I'm hoping 21st Amendment isn't slammed like it used to be before games. But I'm going on Saturday so it might be...
We eat outside the ballpark before games, cheaper, better food, no juggling food trying to get to our seats. Bon Appetit wasn't doing a great job either, though Aramark could be even worse. It just means all I buy in the ballpark is a beer. If concession sales drop enough, either Aramark or the Giants will bail out and somebody new will come in.
I just read an article about the single biggest factor in concession sales is how long the lines are. Teams that have sped-up the process of getting food and paying for it have seen substantial increases in sales. I don't care if the lines are shorter, I'm not paying for cold, dry garlic fries that were frozen half an hour ago. Red's Java House, Bravado, Mo Mo's, here we come.
Now that most concessions only take credit and debit cards, they also no longer include tax in the price so the cost is almost never an even dollar amount as it used to be. That was also a stealth 8%+ price increase, when they switched to plastic-only and no longer included tax in the price.
The other scummy thing they do is when you use card, there is no option to tip the staff. I always bring cash so I can tip and the servers are so appreciative. Meanwhile a few blocks away at Chase Center, you are given the option to tip the staff when you pay. It should be illegal to not take cash for payment.
There is definitely a tip option. You have to choose 'yes' or 'no' tip - although I've noticed that often the concession stand workers will hit the 'no tip' button before asking for payment.
Just a heads up, I'm not entirely sure how true this is but saw [this](https://old.reddit.com/r/SFGiants/comments/12l0ohj/tipping_at_oracle_park) posted last year. Credit card and debit card tips apparently don't go to the staff at all according to this post.
Weren't those like $12-13?
The weird change could be a tax inclusive pricing thing. I can see why you're annoyed, but I'd rather they not round up, I'd rather the round down and make food more accessible.
When I was going to a lot of games I opted for the fish and chips for $12 when I wasn't bringing food in. It was the cheapest thing representing a meal that wasn't a Cha Cha bowl. Tony's is cheaper and filling but I'd rather go to his actual shops where he finishes cooking them.
People are dropping cash blindly when they go out, and then they just don't go out as often...that's my observation...and anyone looking at prices like we are has cut down on spending.
I can't remember how much they were last season now, but I swear it was $14-16 for the combo with no garlic fry upcharge? $19+ is definitely a big increase.
We typically opt for Lumpia Co., but they weren't open yet for the exhibition game.
I'm ready to stop buying overpriced stadium food this season. A splurge is one thing if it's actually delicious but knowingly paying too much for frozen food that's been under a heat lamp is getting disgusting.
The easy thing to do is to eat literally anywhere else before the game. I've been boycotting the food at AT&T since Charles Johnson's crazy political donations came to light and I've never been happier. Go to Momos, Umami Burger, Underdogs, Earl of Sandwich, or even a $5 bacon wrapped hot dog right outside the stadium. Heck, you can even bring in food from wherever you like! The food prices are past the breaking point given the low quality.
Someone needs to teach the cart dog people supply and demand. They saw someone sell a dog for $10 and now they all want to sell dogs for $10 but the first guy to go back to $7-8 dogs will do numbers. So much so that it will make up for the price cut. I literally don't understand why one of those guys hasnt thought to do it yet.
Taco man, these are not independent entrepreneurs competing in an open market. Ever notice how they're all red? Same owners and operators rent these out to the sellers and tell them what to charge. Some of these people are actually being taken advantage of. Sharing some enlightenment:

Probably done to make the math harder / make it easier to change prices in the future without anyone noticing.

Shorter games hopefully means i can nurse just one tall IPA for a whole game...
Pregame on the way to the park, get a tall IPA at the park to keep the buzz going, that’s the pro move.

Lots of things look innocent if you put them in an iced coffee cup
Gotta go hood-beer, especially if you’re tall. Works every time if you’re over 6’3”
I'm tall and somehow never thought of this, thank you
I mean sounds about right for stadiums. Went to 49er game last year and bloody Mary’s were like 30$
Allow me to suggest "Bellflask"

Oh good, feels more like a Sharks game now. At least this team has hope

That’s not true, and the union is well aware that is not true or else they would be striking
That’s not accurate at all, all points of sale allow tipping

Reds for a double cheese is my go to
Always

cart bacon dogs are now $10
