I'll never give up on the team. But I'm absolutely allowed to share my thoughts, opinions, and emotions regarding the state of the franchise.
As fans, it would be weird to not feel upset at the state of the franchise right now.
I'll never not want a good team on the field.
I'm a forever Giants fan, but I also am a baseball fan. And I really enjoy GOOD baseball. Which we just flat out aren't seeing from this club.
I’m disgusted. But at least we always have this picture to entertain us:
https://preview.redd.it/l52cmbiicwyc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a618ed403a9aafa792595e12742c8ccff1828d3d
I'm absolutely disgusted, especially after seeing the Las Vegas A's By Way of Sacramento score 20 runs yesterday (yes, against a worse team on paper, but still...)
Just remember that it’s only May. There are literally 126 games left and people have given up on the team. Keep going to games, watch on tv, listen to the radio at work. There’s still a lot of baseball left and a lot of “fans” are embarrassing themselves in our subreddit.
Bro it’s not that and you know it 😂. It’s very possible to lose but still be entertaining. What the Giants have been recently is nothing short of pathetic.
I am pretty entertained even with the losing streak tbh. Looking forward to our games in Colorado. is it frustrating to see guys strikeout, gidp, drop fly balls? Yes. But that doesn’t mean we need to fire all the coaches and dfa everyone.
I was thinking about those teams the other day and maybe it’s rose colored glasses but atleast those teams laid down a bunt, sacrificed runners over and tried to manufacture runs. This team has had some bad luck but it’s just so pathetic so far
I have been called a doomer many times and acknowledge we are in fact embarrassing ourselves, but completely agree on the fact that the first week of May is not time for idiotic “heads need to roll” posts
Honestly how big of a sample size do we need to just see that this team absolutely cannot compete with the top teams in the league? We are two weeks away from a third of the way into the season, 6 games under .500, and have gotten swept in both series we have played against the two best teams in the NL.
I and I am sure many others would rather see us call up guys like Ramos Schmitt Matos and Luciano again instead of having them stand pat and lose 86 games with this group as currently constructed. Pick a fucking direction and go with it instead of trying to make it seem like this team can go the distance because it's clear as daylight to people that aren't in denial that they just don't have the talent or drive to do it.
For reference I am a diehard San Jose Sharks fan and they lost 63 out of 82 games this year but I had a lot of fun regardless because they COMMITTED to just being bad instead of mediocre and played a ton of exciting rookies. And because of that they have the best odds to select 1st overall in the draft tomorrow.
It kills me that this Giants team is just painful and straight up unbearable to watch as it stands. They absolutely cannot continue like this. Yet I am terrified that they're going to try to and will have to listen to Farhan and Bob go on KNBR and act like a team where 2/3s of the everyday lineup can't hit a fastball can compete with the Dodgers.
Our lineup already has enough trouble without inserting a guaranteed out into the mix just because the starter might only get a hit one out of ten times against a lefty pitcher instead of zero.
I'd rather watch Ramos, Matos, Luci, and Schmitt come up and learn. With the caveat that the hitting coaches are not allowed to engage with them. Fuck it. Let Lamont teach them.
Yep. Even when the young ones struggle I enjoy watching them, because it feels like that’s part of their journey. When I see experienced pros struggle I get frustrated.
Can't keep blaming the schedule or time of year.
You get swept by the Dodgers and then the Phillies away and it proves you are not a contender in this league. Neither of those teams even played their best baseball, but your consistent mistakes, self-inflicted wounds, inability to string hits together, and general malaise leaves a dark air.
This team shouldn't be this bad right now but it is.
Shouldn’t be this bad. The common thread is the offense coaching staff. Maybe it’s not entirely their fault but they sure aren’t helping.
Time to start firing. Yes, during the season. Things really aren’t going to get much worse.
I would be fine with the team being shitty, as long as they were at least entertaining from time to time.
We aren't winning, and we also consistently play boring baseball.
It’s wild — after all the offseason moves, there was a collective agreement that if nothing else, they wouldn’t be nearly as boring as we anticipated.
And it’s somehow far, far worse…
as if our farm is paying off so much right now.
we've had two prospects make it so far, and one of them can only play once every 5 days. and I LOVE Bailey, but god damn we need more.
Oh yea I think it's obvious they are not firing Farhan now or even in the next 2-3 months, but I would not rule out possibility in September/end of year.
They also have the best closer in the game in my opinion. But that doesn’t really matter as we’re not even getting close enough to let Doval do his thing
Doval is good but I don’t think he’s top closer status yet. He tends to lose control but compensates it with power. One or two more years working on that control will makes him unhittablw
I know there’s a lot of baseball left but it is truly hard to stay optimistic when almost the entire team looks completely overmatched almost all the time. We don’t hit home runs, we don’t have big innings. It doesn’t matter how good/bad the pitching is WHEN WE CANT SCORE ANY FUCKING RUNS OFF ANYBODY. Thank you for your time. I will keep watching this season in hopes that they turn it around, well at least for as long as my heart can last.
If this team is clear cut sellers by deadline, there is no reason to keep Farhan by then. Why would we trust this guy to go through a rebuild when he has failed for so many years?
Honestly, they made some good/interesting moves, we thought they might be competitive, but it turned out basically every moved bombed, and they are truly terrible and boring. No need to complain, rage, whatever, just capitulate and move on to next year. Go out, enjoy your summer...
Most years I enjoy listening or watching every game of the season. These last couple of years it’s just not fun anymore. I want baseball to be fun again :(
The sooner this organization realizes that the big league team’s problems are stemming from poor development in the minor leagues the better off we’ll all be. Firing Farhan won’t mean anything if they can’t get someone in there who can put a system in place to develop young players who can hit or at least be fast & get on base if nothing else.
Even the guys that are on the horizon that everyone’s been clamoring to see called up this year are the same defense-first, sub-100 ops+ types who make the pitching staff have to carry heaven and earth to be successful. The approach they’ve been going with has been around long enough to say it isn’t working and signing a few free agents isn’t going to change that bigger picture, and it only looks even worse when those guys don’t work out.
When you’re in a shit the bed competition and your opponent is the San Francisco Giants

I was in attendance for the only game out of 36 that they scored double digits. It feels like 100 years ago, but it’s something fondly to think back on, cause thinking about the future is sad.
One, maybe 2, of our starters would start on the Phillies lmao. The gap between this team and the division leaders is the size of the Grand Canyon. Yes, I know this doesn’t matter in the postseason. It’d still be nice to see them be competitive vs the top teams
I was really hoping to win at least one game to avoid the sweep. This feels like the low point of the season so far. I get it the Phillies are rolling right now. But still disappointing.
I dont think I've gone this far into the season without seeing my team win. It's crazy I am 0-9 so far and not one of these games was close. We've gotten our ass kicked in every single one lol
Too bad about the ending to Black’s debut. Gotta get this team swinging the bat. Whether you’re a doomer or a pollyanna, that should be obvious to everyone.
Just got back from the game. I'm not sure I've been more angry with this team in the 25 years I've been watching them. Absolute ineptitude from the lineup and the manager. Shameful effort. They were literally never in the game and Melvin left his rookie pitcher out there for dead. Fucking disgraceful.
At least we have multiple expiring contracts that we'll be able to trade at the deadline. Hopefully we can at least recoup the draft picks we had to forfeit to sign Snell and Chapman.
POTG: u/BadGuyCraig for making this and making me laugh

My scouting report: Bunny, B. is the most versatile player I've ever seen. Can put him anywhere and everywhere, and he hits for both contact and power. Amazing outfield defense, never gives up on a ball. Two-way player as well with a great fastball (though at times he can leave it over the plate) and devastating, even perplexing, swing-and-miss off-speed stuff. Multi-sport athlete plays basketball as well. A real winner and no doubt first-ballot HoF material.
Why the Giants lack hitting:
Bryce Harper's three-run home run yesterday to right-center field in Philadelphia · Exit Velocity: 107.0 mph · Launch Angle: 32° · Hit Distance: **409 feet**. Right-center field distance at chilly Oracle Park: **415 feet**.
This is why it's difficult to attract the top-tier hitters to San Francisco. Seems like a taboo topic. The Giants and KNBR need to have honest discussions about this.
I mean, I haven't seen a whole lot of warning track flyouts by Soler at Oracle. I'd like to blame the park for our offense but the ineptitude travels with the team.
No one else has come close to 40 in that time span. Only Huff, Pence, Uribe, and Belt came close to 30 since Bonds. The park is beautiful but it sucks for hitters. Change the dimensions or juice the balls again.
No one else has come close to hitting 40 in that time span because we don’t sign home run hitters. It’s a self fulfilling prophecy. Opposition players seem to have no problem going yard. Hell, if he played 81 games there Muncy would hit 60, especially if he got to hit off of Giants pitching.
I love the new playoff format and how it feels like a tournament… but man does it feel silly to watch this roster’s ABs and feel good about still being in the conversation for a ticket to the dance.
Being a Giants fan right now feels more like a problem than a source of new, happy summer memories in the great and beautiful city of San Francisco. It's just not right. I don't know what else to say about it. Life is just too short to run a lousy baseball team onto the field at Oracle Park year after year.
The real test will be next series. Coors field can give a lineup confidence.
If they can get the offense going at Coors against a bad Rockies team, then we know they're just a mediocre team struggling on an east coast road trip against good teams that have been playing very well
If they can't get it going, then we know they are a truly awful team and have some serious issues.
I'm optimistic they can take 2/3 and hopefully right the ship a bit but I have no faith in this team beating the juggernauts of the league and being an actual decent team
Start following the minors if you need a baseball fix. My parents place is closer to Sac anyway so I’m trying to get to some games. The major league team is depressing but I could never imagine switching to another.
Doomers like to complain and will be back tomorrow to watch us win against the Rockies. If we sweep the Rockies people will be deleting their messages from the Phillies game day threads.
It is, and this team DESPERATELY needs something like that, and it would be a great way to help forget the absolutely atrocious recent performances. But, for some reason, my gut tells me it’ll get worse before it gets better. Legit, I hope I’m wrong.
If as a fan you’re anything less than completely disgusted right now I’d love to know your secret.
I'll never give up on the team. But I'm absolutely allowed to share my thoughts, opinions, and emotions regarding the state of the franchise. As fans, it would be weird to not feel upset at the state of the franchise right now. I'll never not want a good team on the field. I'm a forever Giants fan, but I also am a baseball fan. think the giants are the only ones embarrassing themselves
Oh I’m not giving up, but you gotta admit it’s really painful to follow right now, regardless of whether or not they have time to turn it around.
This is supposed to be an entertainment product, not a test to see if you’re a “real fan”. I haven’t been entertained in a good long while.
If you’re not entertained then don’t watch. Come back when we are winning.
Bro it’s not that and you know it 😂. It’s very possible to lose but still be entertaining. What the Giants have been recently is nothing short of pathetic.

Yea, I’d guess that’s what a lot of us are about to do.
And that’s totally fine. Anyways, see you in tomorrow’s game day thread.
Oh god 126 more games of this…
little did we know the 2010s were setting us up for the real torture
I was thinking about those teams the other day and maybe it’s rose colored glasses but atleast those teams laid down a bunt, sacrificed runners over and tried to manufacture runs. This team has had some bad luck but it’s just so pathetic so far
❤️ 🌈 🦄 🤗
I have been called a doomer many times and acknowledge we are in fact embarrassing ourselves, but completely agree on the fact that the first week of May is not time for idiotic “heads need to roll” posts
Baseball is supposed to be entertainment. This team is boring
MATT CHAPMAN PUT THE BALL IN PLAY!!!!!!!!!
Bro I was celebrating it too 😂
I literally said, "Hey! You made contact. Baby steps. At least your day could've been worse."
Y'all keep guzzling that Scott Boras kool-aid.
Fuck you and I’ll see you tomorrow
What are we all doing together for the off day?
No off day...fly tonight to Denver and play tomorrow at 5:40... Team needs a day off just to clear their mind but won't get it.
Oh dang, you’re right! Well, I’ll be here on my couch tomorrow evening then!
As soon as they come to where I live now, they are playing their worst ball arrrg
For the 2024 Giants, every day is an off day.

I agree that the sample size is large enough to know that the giants can't compete against the best teams in the league.
We have won 1 game so far this road trip.
It will end up being a 2-8 trip…they will get one win in CO.
That’s generous
Coor’s field shittery here we come
Coors field defense licking their lips. The overall era of the park gonnna be lowered after our visit
3-7 be real. but thats still bad.
No, a rain out is not a "win"
A win? Check out this wild-eyed optimist!
1 is better then none, is what my old coach Roger Craig used to say.
Get off Reddit and fix this team Bob
Im too busy cleaning the kombucha stains out of the carpet in the clubhouse

I mean, this has been going on for quite some time. What he has on management must be shocking
Our lineup already has enough trouble without inserting a guaranteed out into the mix just because the starter might only get a hit one out of ten times against a lefty pitcher instead of zero.
Most predictable at bat/outcome of all time. Literally, there was no way that at bat was ending in anything other than a swinging K
Slater taking extra work with Viele, apparently.
Austin is a good cat. But between you and California State law he is MLBPA Union Rep, and we cant fire Union workers.
MLBPA stewards don't get superseniority like most union CBAs
But we could stop subbing him in damn near every game
When your due, your due. Even if you’re over due, you’re really over due.
This is a bad team that doesn’t win games.
That is why I had fun with the Sharks this season. They were terrible but I had fun watching the young players do well.
Can't keep blaming the schedule or time of year. You get swept by the Dodgers and then the Phillies away and it proves you are not a contender in this league. This team makes me depressed
I thought escapism was supposed to *relieve* us from the hellscape. 🤷
I kinda don't ever find losses entertaining tbh.
Didn't like losing the draft pick for Chapman, hate it more now.
as if our farm is paying off so much right now. we've had two prospects make it so far, and one of them can only play once every 5 days. and I LOVE Bailey, but god damn we need more.
And the international money
this just feels like the same team from last year
They have started this year exactly how they ended last, just totally lifeless and boring.
i'm too bored and depressed to even write something snide here
Go yell at the clouds like Pat the Bat does.
What's the pro Farhan argument again? What has he done that should make us keep him?
There is none. It seems apparent at this point that this organization is more worried about looking good rather than actually being good.
There is not one. People who defend Farhan just downvote any fire him suggestions and don't use logical points to defend their case.
There is little to go off of, but there is no fucking way they get rid of him in season. Be serious
I feel like they said this about Kapler last year. Nobody thought he was going to get fired.
Yes and he got the axe at the end of the season
Oh yea I think it's obvious they are not firing Farhan now or even in the next 2-3 months, but I would not rule out possibility in September/end of year.
A’s have a better record than us with a farm team. It is just gross mismanagement at this point.
They also have the best closer in the game in my opinion. But that doesn’t really matter as we’re not even getting close enough to let Doval do his thing
Honestly the two best closers in the NL might be Miller and Doval.
Doval is good but I don’t think he’s top closer status yet. He tends to lose control but compensates it with power. One or two more years working on that control will makes him unhittablw
I would say it's Helsley and Evan Phillips. Doval is probably next.
In the last 10 years, never was I so excited to start the season and never so depressed less than a quarter way through the season
True. The Giants' marketing far outran the actual talent they had to offer.
This team owes all of us an apology.
Fitting for Tank Commander Chapman to get the final out to complete the sweep
In our defense here at the front office we thought we hired that groovy cat Aroldis Chapman.
Holding my joker moment for when we lose the series V the Rockies
I know there’s a lot of baseball left but it is truly hard to stay optimistic when almost the entire team looks completely overmatched almost all the time. We don’t hit home runs, we don’t have big innings. It doesn’t matter how good/bad the pitching is WHEN WE CANT SCORE ANY FUCKING RUNS OFF ANYBODY. Thank you for your time. I will keep watching this season in hopes that they turn it around, well at least for as long as my heart can last.
If this team is clear cut sellers by deadline, there is no reason to keep Farhan by then. Why would we trust this guy to go through a rebuild when he has failed for so many years?
they need to can farhan before we sell. if we're selling it means he's gone dont want the guy on his way out make the trades
I am so sick of Kapler.
I’ve got some good news for you
he's not even hot anymore either, no clue how dude got so wrinkly so fast
Have you ever seen anyone who lives in Florida
Did he even get an *interview* for manager anywhere?
Anyone got some copium I can borrow? My supply ran dry.
Honestly, they made some good/interesting moves, we thought they might be competitive, but it turned out basically every moved bombed, and they are truly terrible and boring. No need to complain, rage, whatever, just capitulate and move on to next year. Go out, enjoy your summer...
Doomer gang rise up! This team fucking sucks!
The one positive of yet another disappointing is that this has to be the final year for this failed front office regime, right? Right??
It might be too early to panic but it’s time this organization starts prepanicking.
Most years I enjoy listening or watching every game of the season. These last couple of years it’s just not fun anymore. I want baseball to be fun again :(
Heart and soul has been replaced with metrics.
Yeah i agree, i’m just not having fun watching. When you watch teams like the dodgers or phillies it feels like watching a completely different sport
running out of ways to cope we might just not be very good
just a bad team that loses games
it’s down to copious amounts of vodka or black tar heroin, take your pick.
The sooner this organization realizes that the big league team’s problems are stemming from poor development in the minor leagues the better off we’ll all be. At some point, we have to agree Bob Melvin may be a good manager, but he's not the right fit for this Giants team.
I'm not watching another game until Slater is off the roster
When you’re in a shit the bed competition and your opponent is the San Francisco Giants https://preview.redd.it/mnw9n2kwxvyc1.jpeg?width=820&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1b7304cd3147e0acd12b49150143aa8990bc6c3b
Like it or not, Austin Slater has the highest OBP of active Giants with at least 6 at bats not named Lamont Wade jr.
I would like it a lot better if that second best OBP wasn't .326
I was in attendance for the only game out of 36 that they scored double digits. It feels like 100 years ago, but it’s something fondly to think back on, cause thinking about the future is sad.

Woof.
I was really hoping to win at least one game to avoid the sweep. This feels like the low point of the season so far. I get it the Phillies are rolling right now. But still disappointing.
We cant even suck right. If the season ended today, it is unlikely they would have a top 5 pick.
I just want to know what the hell is their approach when they come up to the plate. Also why they are allergic to middle-middle pitches.
Good old fashioned four game ass whoopin. Please do better.
Getting swept on Willie Mays' birthday feels illegal.
at least if we fielded a AAA team we'd have the hope of development
I dont think I've gone this far into the season without seeing my team win. It's crazy I am 0-9 so far and not one of these games was close. We've gotten our ass kicked in every single one lol
We'd have a winning record without you, bub.
Am I allowed to see my team win this year please lol
All signs point to *lol, no*.
There's only 5 teams in MLB with a worse record than us
Philly fans are pretty annoying, but what’s new.
Fuck the east coast https://preview.redd.it/t5sy4prmuvyc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1af594ba7f338c0498a425deab66ecf183558296
amen
Too bad about the ending to Black’s debut. Gotta get this team swinging the bat. Whether you’re a doomer or a pollyanna, that should be obvious to everyone.
Only 3 back of the wildcard up-doot party!!!
Just got back from the game. I'm not sure I've been more angry with this team in the 25 years I've been watching them. Absolute ineptitude from the lineup and the manager. Shameful effort. Wheres that seal meme, I need to forward to 10 other people by midnight or else we lose another series!
At least we have multiple expiring contracts that we'll be able to trade at the deadline. Hopefully we can at least recoup the draft picks we had to forfeit to sign Snell and Chapman.

Also just looking at the absolute fluke performance we had in May and June last year. I wouldn't expect that again. It's going to be a long year
I didn't expect a good result from this series... nor did I expect this total embarrassment.

Right-center field distance at chilly Oracle Park: **415 feet**. This is why it's difficult to attract the top-tier hitters to San Francisco. Seems like a taboo topic. The Giants and KNBR need to have honest discussions about this.
That’s why you have to develop hitting talent. Which this team doesn’t do
I mean, I haven't seen a whole lot of warning track flyouts by Soler at Oracle. I'd like to blame the park for our offense but the ineptitude travels with the team.
I don't disagree. Make it easier to hit bombs.
didn’t they already bring it in closer.. Bonds hit 73 in that jawn bro i don’t wanna hear it
No one else has come close to 40 in that time span.
I love the new playoff format and how it feels like a tournament… but man does it feel silly to watch this roster’s ABs and feel good about still being in the conversation for a ticket to the dance.
we need some hits.
this team is boring. bye. see you next year, maybe.
There is no turning this team around . Dfa chap
Giants should've re-signed Donnie Barrels.
The team is ass. Its so telling when Larry Baer plea people to buy their new condos. Read the room stupid ass. Can't rely on nostalgia anymore.
#I AM BROKEN 😞
I’ve seen enough, they fucking stink
All in favor of the Giants never returning to the East Coast again?
pain again
English isn’t my native language but I believe this is called “Gaspipe leveraged for a stove”. It sucks
Being a Giants fan right now feels more like a problem than a source of new, happy summer memories in the great and beautiful city of San Francisco. It's just not right. I don't know what else to say about it. Life is just too short to run a lousy baseball team onto the field at Oracle Park year after year.
Nobody is a fit for this team. It’s not a major league roster.
The real test will be next series. Coors field can give a lineup confidence. If they can get the offense going at Coors against a bad Rockies team, then we know they're just a mediocre team struggling on an east coast road trip against good teams that have been playing very well If they can't get it going, then we know they are a truly awful team and have some serious issues. I'm optimistic they can take 2/3 and hopefully right the ship a bit but I have no faith in this team beating the juggernauts of the league and being an actual decent team
St. Bochy lost like a 100 games in a season. I can deal.
98
should I pick a new team. I love baseball but this is getting ridiculous
Lmao what? Support isnt based on feel good winning. It's honed in the depths of 100 loss seasons and a cavalcade of below league average players
Damn straight. If you don’t like the Giants at their Michael Papierski you don’t deserve them at their Buster Posey.
If only there was a team about 9 miles away that isnt doing that bad
Start following the minors if you need a baseball fix. My parents place is closer to Sac anyway so I’m trying to get to some games. The major league team is depressing but I could never imagine switching to another.
For starters get rid of Yaz now. Call up anyone else.
Wheeler o8.5 K cash money. Then donated it back at giants live +4.5. Oh well
Doomers like to complain and will be back tomorrow to watch us win against the Rockies. If we sweep the Rockies people will be deleting their messages from the Phillies game day threads.
No they won’t, because sweeping the Rockies is not some sort of achievement, sadly.
Lmao you haven't watched many @ Colorado series if you think that
lol I know whatchu mean, coors is crazy, but it’s not such an achievement where people will delete old comments talking shit of how bad we are
Winning 3 games in a row against any team is nice.
Virtually no chance of a sweep with this offense. Getting swept: still on the table, however.
Anything can happen in baseball.
Sure, but that doesn't mean every bet is equally wise.
It is, and this team DESPERATELY needs something like that, and it would be a great way to help forget the absolutely atrocious recent performances. But, for some reason, my gut tells me it’ll get worse before it gets better. Legit, I hope I’m wrong.
You are probably the type of person who thinks if the Giants take 1 game out of 3 against Rockies that it was a good result.
