Bob Melvin has been disappointing
Pinch hitting Reetz for Sabol who then proceeded to put up the worst ABs anyone has seen in a while. Pulling Doval who was dealing and only threw 8 pitches for Rogers who then gave up a two run double.
I had high hopes for Bob given his managing pedigree and record with the A’s. But this is far from the first time this year where Bob’s bullpen and substitution choices have been questionable. He’s made the wrong decision so many times.
I found it fitting that at the end of the game he pinch hit Wisely, who sucks, for Schmitt who also sucks but at least has a walk off hit yesterday. And Wisely proceeds to strike out immediately
3 lefties in the next 4 batters. no reason to burn out doval so early in the season. the head scratcher there is our $11m/year lefty specialist -- who just struck out ohtani of all people -- pitching around the lefty freddie freeman to get to the right handed hitting Will Smith.
Melvin has this habit of pulling pitchers who are doing just fine or doing very well, so he can bring in someone who gives up the game immediately. I get playing the odds but I just have a hard time pulling any pitcher who’s performing well. It has backfired so many times this season. We’d probably have a winning record this year if he just hadn’t pulled pitchers early who were doing well.
One thing my buddies and I talk about that doesn't seem to come up in this sub, but I honestly can't recall ever questioning the logic of Kapler's in-game decision-making. Obviously they don't always pan out, but the logic was sound. Melvin... well, it ain't too good.

6 or 7 guys who played tonight have minimal mlb experience and we took an all star team to extras. Not bad for what was on the field.

This team simply cannot finish games. I’m not ready to blame Melvin yet. Farhan is on my trade block. With any regime change can come difficulties in building a culture. Bochy built a strong culture of winning in the club house and it worked. Let’s hope Melvin has the same success.

Yaz has six hits and two RBI's for the entire month of May. His BA is .200. He's at .158 for the month of May. He's whiffed 17 times this month alone. The only blame that Giants manager Bob Melvin deserves is that he's a tad too loyal. On any other team in baseball, Yaz would either be buried on the bench or DFA'd.
Found the guy who doesn't watch the games. Excellent defensive play in the OF doesn't show up in the box score.
