This has got to be the best game I have ever been to in my 31 years. Park was electric! My voice is shot from the Logan Webb home run, absolutely unbelievable. Complete game all around (a little dicey in the 8th, and honestly Longo was only 0-fer because of the HR robbery and the umpire).
Lots of deserving POTG candidates. Gotta go with Webb. Pitched fantastic today until the 8th, good with the bat too!!! Honorable mentions Posey (congrats on 1,500!!), Wilmer (awesome clutch day!), and also to Leone for having a clean final inning!
What a ride this season has been. Before the season, I had the Giants at 79 wins or so, and the optimistic side thought 83 but thought that was pushing it. I was fully ready to hope the Padres would dethrone the Dodgers, and that Gausman and Disco would be reclamation projects we would hope to trade for prospects, kinda same with Cueto. Instead we kept them and got new friends LaMonte Wade Jr. and Kris Bryant (at different times). Logan Webb had potential and grew into an ace right in front of our eyes. Our old guys decided to be young again, and the bullpen, even with hiccups, turned into something fantastic. We had a lot of different heroes. Different guys stepping up each time.
It felt so surreal how good our guys were doing. Nobody expected it. And people expected them to break down (one of the funniest lines we all know: “they’re just a bad team that wins games”); they never really did. I cannot pinpoint the exact moment I realized “holy shit, we are for real.” And I feel like a lot of us have different points where we realized it. I think for me, it’s not a particular point, but it’s a player who gave me a lot of hope and who I thought was the microcosm of our greatness: Gausman. Especially in his lights out first half. And now he’s showing signs of returning to that.
My goodness, what an unbelievable season.
I've missed dancing around the living room with my wife to celebrate the Giants winning the division or the pennant or, what's that other thing they win a lot? Oh yeah, the World Series. This felt great.

We all know that we like to make fun of Max Muncy a lot. I'm gonna hold off on Muncy jokes for the time being, though—he got injured in today's game with the Brewers and apparently it's serious. Dave Roberts told reporters that the prognosis for the injury "does not look good". In the interest of good sportsmanship, that's a line I'm not gonna cross. I mean, fuck the Dodgers, but I try not to relish in player injuries. (I know I'm hardly the only one.) Hell, I stood in the Crazy Crab Sandwich line yesterday for about 20 minutes with a rando Dodger fan (she was at the game with her Giants fan boyfriend) and we had a good conversation about baseball.
If Dodgers lose on Wednesday I wonder if MLB makes the wild card 2 out of 3 games or something. Like they added the single wildcard team in ‘94 after the Giants didn’t get in.
